I haven't finished rep with the consortium and/or done any of the netherstorm/SMV questlines. What are your opinions on the matter?
Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about rep but I'd get your shamans to at least 69 in outland - should be easy with the reduced XP and for the next few days anyway you wont have any competition hardly...maybe go to 70 there. Northrend is really crowded and at 68 if you're on a PvP server you'll have to worry about lots of ganking.

I took my second group of 5 out to Northrend at 68ish after I got all the outland flight points and such. I am happy I did so. The items you get questing out a zone in Northrend are really a big upgrade even from Outland questing gear. You also get like 40% more experience per quest than you'd be getting in Outland. 20k is the standard exp for a normal quest there. I think I was only getting 11k at most in Outland.

If your worried about running out of quests starting wotlk at 68 you can always just quest up to 70, then run UK/Nexus 70-72. With a 5 shaman team you can blast through UK pretty fast, 2-3 runs an hour once you get a feel for the place. Nexus isn't bad eigther though I haven't killed dragon boss yet

Depends on how you feel about story.
If you don't care and are just interested in leveling efficiency, I say get to 70 in BC, then go over and don't do ANY collection quests.
If you're like me and like to get into the story anyway, it's not really THAT much longer to just do all the collections. In that case, you can probably just head on over.

My five went from 68 to 71 just doing all the quests* in the Borean Tundra plus they got at least 600 gold each. I can now go and do all of the Howling Fjord should I wish, or move into Dragonblight. My toons were rested the whole time which might explain that.
*5 quests to go (I'm not going to pay 350gold for 5xOVERCHARGED capacitors) plus 4 Nexus dungeon quests. I'd say there are about 140 odd quests for Alliance in the Borean Tundra. I got the achievement for 130 BT quests and I was still going with more... (wowhead only lists about 153 for alliance?)
Edit: * no idea what I was thinking about that day ... I think I had done too many quest :D

I am confused... wowhead has every single quest in both starting zones as having a level 69 minimum level. How are level 68's questing there?
My whole team is now 68 and I would love to pop over and start northrend questing tomorrow if it will actually work.
My DK hit BT last night at 68 and dinged 69 a couple of hours later. There are lvl 68 quests on both HF and BT.

ok maybe I will try it. There are only 4 level 68 quests in each zone according to wow head... maybe they got it wrong. Oh and maybe this is a stupid question but to get to one newbie zone from the other... do you have to go back to stormwind -> wetlands and take the other boat or can you gwet from one to the other by land? (at level 68)

Wowhead is not up to date, both starting zones are 68 friendly.
You can catch turtle boats from BT to HF and vice versa. As alliance you can take the boat from Stormwind Harbour (far end) to Borean Tundra. From Valiance Keep go east to Unu'pe and catch the boat from there to Moa'ki Harbour and then take the other boat to Howling Fjord.
From wowwiki: (http://www.wowwiki.com/World_of_Warcraft:_Wrath_of_the_Lich_King)
Zones
To alleviate some of the problems experienced at the launch of the Burning Crusade ('http://www.wowwiki.com/World_of_Warcraft:_The_Burning_Crusade') expansion, players will be able to choose where to enter the continent more freely—both Howling Fjord ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Howling_Fjord') to the east and the Borean Tundra ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Borean_Tundra') to the west feature level 68+ content, and it is planned that you can level all the way to 72 without visiting both. The continent is designed to allow players to level from level 68 to 80.

How are you blowing through UK with level 70 shamans in quest gear?
They last 2-4 hits on trash.

I'd say there are about 320 quests for Alliance in the Borean Tundra. I got the achievement for 300 BT quests and I was still going with more... (wowhead only lists about 153 for alliance?)

From leveling a DK to mid-70's in the beta, I'd say skip BEM -- very slow XP from all the traveling. Your call on SMV. Definitely do Netherstorm -- very dense quests, good XP per hour. The gear isn't worth it, but it's good XP. You absolutely don't need gear or level 70 to do Tundra questing. I did most of my leveling naked, srsly.

Here are a few ways to consider it:
If you love upgrades on a continuous basis, keep doing Outlands quests. You'll see upgrades, and get xp.
If you love doing quests just for storyline, do Outlands quests.
If you want achievements, keep doing Outlands quests.
If you want fast xp, go to Northrend.
If you want big gear upgrades, go to Northrend.
If you like quest storylines, and gear, but not so worried about xp - go to Northrend, do some quests for good gear upgrades, then head back to Outlands to continue questing. But if you do this, I'd bet that most people will just stay in Northrend, because the gear, gold and xp are so much better...

Consider this:
Level | Exp Needed to level
70 1,523,800
71 1,539,600
72 1,555,700
73 1,571,800
74 1,587,900
75 1,604,200
76 1,620,700
77 1,637,400
78 1,653,900
79 1,670,800
Tot 15,965,800
Compared to TBC
Level | Exp needed to Level
60 290,000
61 317,000
62 349,000
63 386,000
64 428,000
65 475,000
66 527,000
67 585,000
68 648,000
69 717,000
Tot 4,722,000
Taking in to account that mobs are worth between 850-1050 Exp ( 70 - 80 ) and quests are worth 22,500-31,625 You need to do about 725 quests with zero instances to level. If you are able to do instances it makes this number drop ALOT.
In fact when you are able to do Gun'Drak, if you are quick it takes about 15-20 mins and is worth 7.1 % of a level ( Level 76 ) So if you are able to do this over and over and over it's much quicker then questing.
Leveling my main ( warlock ) completing every zone up to IC and SP ( and one run of the instances, just for quests ) I am 78 - 7/10ths. So i can see that you really need to do just about every quest in the zone to ding 80 in SP or IC.
