So I am trying my little heart out to get these drivers to install for this xkeys USB. This is my email to PI, if anyone is able to help in the meantime please take a look.

Firstly: The xkeys looks to be a older model - SN: 651428 it has a green bottom, and the keys are colored
green red, purple and blue. I tell you this so you could tell me if this was a pre 2003 version or not.

Alright what I have done:
- Attemped to install Macro Recorder, macro record
crashes on a severe error saying product is not
supported.

- Installed Macroworks II, installed sucessfully but
the icon in the system try shows no devices. Clicking
on it does nothing, there was also no icon to the
desktop.

Attempted to follow the knowledg base for installing the drivers, I ran the setup XKeysSetup.exe, in x86
compatability mode and it installed succesfully. Although clicking on this installed program appears to
do nothing.

So in a nutshell, I plug the device in the vista 64 menu to Locate and install, ask again later or do
nothing comes up. I click "Locate and install", it will tell me to insert the disc. I click the "I dont
have the disc" show other options. I browse to the windows\system32\drivers (which I copied the
XkeysW2K.sys) file into by hand as well and it doesn't seem to notice the driver at all. It promptly says
unable to locate and and unable to install the x-keys programing mode.

So apparently, if your going to buy a X-Keys, make damn sure your getting a new model. If you get the older models they arnt compatible with vista 64 (sorta). PI said that I can program it on a XP machine, and just plug it in on another computer and it will work so heres to trying that out in a bit.

No icon on desktop is normal, they just have it in the tray. I don't know what model you have, mine are all X-key pro 58 keys and all serials start at 81 (got all 4 about 2 to 3 years ago)not sure it matters too much as I think most if not all of us here will use macroworksII. Right clicking or even left clicking on the tray icon should show you something like this:

X-Keys MacroworksII ..................................(cannot click this)
X-Keys Pro............................................... .(Or whatever device you have, this is what you choose, might take 5 seconds to load)
Version 1.0.0.0..........................................( think they are up to 1.0.1.2 now, but this works for me and I didn't feel like re-programming everything over, so I never upgraded)

If you have nothing in the middle, then maybe try plugging it into different USB connectors if you haven't already.

Also, try disabling UAC.

Hit the windows icon in the bottem left of your desktop (use to be Start)
In the search box, type "MSCONFIG"
Hit continue
Choose Tools
Scrool down and find "Disable UAC"
Hit Launch
When done, close out and restart computer and try to run your x-keys.

I have 2 x-keys running on XP...which runs perfect and I have 2 x-keys running on Vista 32, which I use to have to start Everquest by cancelling stuff out in order for the x-keys to work...now I just disabled UAC and it works perfectly with vista 32. I am rebuilding all my box account computers and am considering vista 64 and today or tommorrow maybe I will take one of my x-keys and run it up on my main machine which is vista 64 and see what problems there are.

Yeah mine is like their "FIRST" model lol.

I can only run in resident memory mode, I have to program it on a xp computer using macrorecorder, then I am able to plug it in on a vista 64 machine.
Other then that, its not compatible... so just caution if your buying used make sure you get the right model !

Any model that does NOT have the instructions on the back of the unit i belive is usable with vista 64 (programming wise).
