View Full Version : Abusing RAF grants for fun and profit (maybe)

With RAF grant-a-level, many schemes orient about how to most efficiently grant levels to generate several fully-leveled teams at a minimum time investment. I've noticed a few things, and they lead me to an inevitable conclusion...but it seems to good to be true. That usually means there's a gotcha somewhere - maybe y'all can show me where it is? Here are a few premises to start with:

Granted levels require you be higher level than the recipient, therefore one point on a level 59 is much more valuable than one point on a level 3. Death Knights start at level 55. You can only make one DK per account, but if it is transferred/deleted you can make another. You can get 3x experience for anyone 59 and lower.
What this says to me is that I could make five Death Knights, do the starter quests at triple XP, grant their levels, then delete them and repeat until you have all the levels you want for your teams. The catch, if this even works, is obviously that each DK can only generate a total of two levels. However, it seems to only take a few hours to finish the quests, ending up at 58ish normally, and presumably even faster as a group and with 3x XP.

Apologies if this has already been addressed...but it seems conspicuously absent from my search results.

You have to have a Level 55 toon on that server to make a DK.

Two problems

1) you need a lev 55 to grant levels so a raf account would require a transfer onto or for you to get a team to 55 already.

Second i don't see much profit, up untill about level 50 in doing this, taking a few hours for two levels would be sad progress for a raf team, for example just questing I managed to average 1-1.5 hours a level after 45. Prior to 45 it is much quicker much quicker to quest level. Most questers can do 1-25 in 7 or so hours, probably quicker if you were real focused, and of course a booster can do 40 levels in 10-14 hours.

However there might be merit to going the last few levels, say 52-58, since at 58 you level quicker just doing HF than you would making and then granting with new DKs

So yes from a pure min max perspective this might be worthwile for a few of the tail end raf levels.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It would only really be useful to top them off (or say to burn that high-40s/low-50s hump). But in a "drat, I'm a few granted levels short!" situation you could generate extra points - high level points - when the only other way to do it is to level an entirely new character from 1-59.

Incorrect. You have to have a lvl 55 toon ... anywhere. Just one.

There is a bug currently that you may have to create a lvl 1 character on the realm first if you don't have any other characters there, then go ahead and create the DK.

wow - thanks for that - but is that bug going to get fixed and all characters created on realm you don't have a 55 deleted ?

Hmmm that has been (hot)fixed apparently - I'm not able to create a DK on realms I don't have a 55 - are you sure that was ever possible ?

They said they will eventually make it an account-wide unlock, but I thought you had to have one on the same server for now.
