View Full Version : People already 74. Exploiting?

Ok so on our server there are two people that are already 74. Do you guys think this is actually possible without exploiting? I've been instancing for about 10 hours and I'm just now half way. I can understand 71.5 reasonably but 74?

I posted something in the PVE forum about instance leveling. It was something like 17 instance runs per level. If they got a group together and did this they could easily achieve there level.
Or maybe they are going about it like the one guy that tagged mobs then had his guild kill them. I don't think technically that is an exploit. ~18 hours wotlk has been live. I will be interested in loggin on tonight to see what the highest level toon is on my server.

4.5 hours per lvl, sounds very achieveable. You could get a xp boost from having 25 quests completed before upgrading then handing them all in straight away. That's like 270k xp right there.

There was a post on the WoW forums about an EU guy hitting 80 in 13 hours. He had lots of helpers. He tagged the mobs, they killed them. He has print screens of the GM telling him it was okay, and then after he hit 80, they banned him and his team of carebears...
What I don't understand about the carebears is that if they were just killing what he had tagged, then they don't gain EXP, so how do they still help him at the higher levels???

i'd say.. max out on +hit gems/gear.
or have two teams do it. one team helping him while the other team tries to hit 74-76. and have that team help him when the other team start to continually miss the mobs.
but who knows. that's just my idea.

Mage hit 70 in 28 hours. Got banned by noob GM. Couple days later ban was lifted, guessing same thing will happen here.
Secondly, you don't need to kill lvl 80 mobs to be become level 80. The mobs only have to be lvl 72 for you to go from 79-80.

All the ones that are hitting 74+ are in Zul'drak. Wouldn't be suprised if there is some tagging thing going on. I doubt very seriously this is normal instancing.

Leveling seems to be just as fast or faster in wotlk than BC was when it came out, regardless of the extra XP. I played a few hours today and got half way to 71 just slowly doing quests and exploring. I don't doubt people that popped some energy pills and stayed up all night and day to level would easily be able to make 74. There are many people on my server claiming they started playing last night at midnight and only stopped to sleep for a few hours (sad as this is).

There is nothing sad about pulling an all nighter to play a new and exciting video game.

i dont see anything wrong with this. yeah, it may seem unfair, and idk why someone would forego lvlin themselves to help someone else make realm first cap. *shrug*

Really that doesn't seem hard at all. Everything came out at 9 pm pst. Especially if you have been playing beta and know what to do, questing can be extremely fast. I don't care what you do nothing is as fast as questing if you are good. Except maybe that mob tagging thing. Joana has been making his guide for the last like 4 or 5 months and it uses a tour guide like thing. If you download that and follow him close to exactly, and did a little preparing before launch i think that is definitely possible. It also is supposed to be no harder than BC from what i hear but idk about that one.

Meh, probably the same people who will be complaining about how boring and lame the expansion pack was in a couple weeks. All the power to them though, but I don't see this as a big deal. The game really isn't that hard.

I don't see it as a big deal. Just was curious if people thought they may have been exploiting or if they think it's possible to get there normally. I've played quite a few hours with my team since release and i'm only 16 bubbles towards 71. Just depresses me to know how many hours I've already logged and to be left in the dust.

meh, other than my pre boxing 70 paladin main, I only have a team at 64 so all I wanna do is finish up Outland... I started seeing DKs in hellfire right before I went to bed last night, I wonder if there's any lvl 70 DKs yet?

what bothers me about that are doin this is they will always gloat about it. so you were the first person to hit 80, big freakin deal. bein the first group to conquer a new raid or something is more of something to feel proud about. but regardless, people shouldnt gloat. its one thing to know you were first with this, first with that, but it shouldnt be pushed into peoples faces.

It's a game, seriously, don't think so hard on it. There is no way those 74s hit that without help. I have been playing since midnight and I'm only 71 (took a 3 hour break.) However my blue xp was nonexistant and I did spend an hour wiping in Ugtarde (as I like to call it.)

couple of 74s on my server by about noon today, not hard to believe - full tier 6, easy classes like hunters, played beta, have a guide. once they leveled out of the first zone it probably got faster, no competition for mobs

There is much more to the story than just helpers getting him to level 80. That's fine to help other players level.

I'm going to assume he was lvling up using whatever method. Was wondering if it was legit so he tickted a GM to ask about it...which leads me to wonder how the hell he got a GM response in JUST 13 hours lol

It's a game, seriously, don't think so hard on it.I'm just curious that is all. I'm not getting worked up over it or anything. If these are legit methods then I enjoy hearing about them and what was done. I hit 71 with my pali and 3 shamans just a bit ago so i'm more than pleased with my progress. I'm leaving one of my shamans behind so that I can level with my fiance and quest together.

Remember its much quicker to level 1 character with probably the best damage gear in the game available than to level a 5 box team. You only have to look at the damage meter on that 80 warlock to know that. Some 5 box teams wouldnt pull 2kdps between them.

First, its a ton easier leveling one character than multiboxing. There are quite a few 76s on my server already.
There is a really simple trick, beyond stuff like having 0 downtime, instance grinding, specing for fast kills, etc. DONT LOOT. You waste a ton of time looting. However, I think this is just dumb. I'd rather have all the gold, profession mats, etc and take an extra few days than to hit 80 first and sit around bored.
One of my guildies is 74 and he is a ret pally, he says they never loot anything except bosses and he is running in a group that is just grinding instances 18 hours a day (they are sleeping for 5-6, lol). That seems incredibly boring and a horrible way to experience WOTLK personally, but to each his own.

First I have to say that I really like this forum and besides a few of the ass hats most in here are realy cool and helpful but when stories like this or the Prepared story come out a lot of you say the same things that people say to us when they see us boxing. "The game is not hard" "You are not playing the game right" "You are not experiencing the game".
Let's use the same argument that many of us have macroed. Some play the game for different reasons.

most death knights should be mid 60s and early 70s by now. no surprise.
and those who started at 70... they should be almost 80 by now. i expect a bunch to hit 80 and stand in Org/IF pseudo-afk for hours just to gloat come tonight or tomorrow morning.

Theres 2 Level 80s in Alliance Bonechewer at the moment.. Apparently theres a 1min slack for the 1st to level 80 achievement.. So 2 people got the achievement in bonechewer US
My DK just hit 70 today, and is already almost 72. If I were playing my original team, I'd be mid-upper 70s I'm sure. For me, it makes more sense to get max level quick, then smell the roses. There's more available to do at 80 than there is at 71 as an example. As was stated earlier, we each play the game differently. I've played the game "exploring" the content as I go along, and that's fine. It took me a lot longer to level, and I eventually ended up feeling left behind and that I was missing out on fun with my friends and guildmates, so in the end I started power levelling anyway just to catch up. I DID however take a little time (a few hours) to work on enchanting for my DK, mainly because I wanted to be able to DE all those drops and quest items. Right now, I'm levelling the DK alongside my Shamans. My mixed team just has absolutely no gear since they were RAFd up, and no epic mounts even. I can't be bothered to get them up to speed right now.

That doesn't shock me any. The group I want to start WotLK with is almost ready for northrend, and I've seen PLENTY of DK's already past my level. That class starts with great gear right off the bat and has a pretty quick learning curve, IMO.
