Hello,

WoW is running on a single PC.

The 3rd screen is on a 2nd pc for web, mail, etc.

Maximizer done manually, code is posted in sticky of Beginner Heaven

I see you are using almost the same setup as me pc wise, but i wonder about your gfx card, i recently switched back to ati (2900pro) and found out that ati is very unforgiving with 2 windowed games of wow on top of eachother. You have the same trouble? Or perhaps fixed it.

I'm fine with the ATI X1950Pro 256meg, only issue is that no card can single-handle a resolution such as 3360 * 1050.

I'm running the 5 boxes in 3200 * 1200 and getting 40-70 fps on all.

But it's not optimized for comfort so I ordered a Matrox DualHead2go and an ATI X3850 (DualHead requires X2... or X3... serie to go beyond 2880).

Pasting a comment I added in the TripleHead2go thread
http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=662

*******************************
Please be aware that the Matrox team ain't the fastest at updating its DualHead2go - TripleHead2go "drivers" to keep up with ATI chips.

I just found out that their lastest version of PowerDesk app, in charge of listing all different resolution available to your card, isn't capable of detecting the new X3850 and X3870 chips.

As a result, it considers them as sub-X2000s and limits the max res to 2880 * 900.

While the X2000s get to 3800 * 1200, even the slowish X2400.

This has been confirmed over the phone with their HQ tech support in Montreal a few hours ago.

No deadline available for the patch, the folks actually opened a ticket to the Dev team.

Greetings,

Updating my initial post to reflect latest upgrades (in bold)

I now run 5 WoW clients on :

One single PC
1 Antec Nine Hundred case
4 G.Skill Kit Extreme2 1Go PC6400 PK (4Go total)
1 Intel® QuadCore™ 6600 (simple Bios overclocked to 3.0ghz )
1 Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R rev 2.0 motherboard
1 MSI ATI Radeon™ RX3870 512mo (factory overclocked GFX card)
1 Seasonic S12-650 Energy+ (650w power supply)
1 Western Digital Raptor X 150 Go - 16 Mo 10,000rpm
1 Logitech G15 keyboard
1 Logitech MX 1000 laser mouse
1 Vista family edition premium

I found this system to be far more performant for multi-boxing (but no change while mono-boxing), mainly due to QuadCore cpu and faster GFX with 512mo ram (5 clients eat at least 350mo GFX ram).

Note : the Raptor is probably overkill for WoW, I won't buy one on my next setup.
Though I love the sound of the 10,000rpm drive 8)

I was thinking about making a thread about this but maybe you can answer this. What resolution do each of your 4 clones on the 2nd window run at?

Looks good man. I love how you have the monitors in place.

How does 5 run on the Duo? Any lag?

Greetings,

@ Schwarz : the screen is 1680 * 1050 so each quarter runs at 830 * 525, setup done with maximizer add-on.

@ Diamndzngunz : 5 didn't run too well on the Duo 6850 3.0ghz, run lot better on this new setup with the QuadCore 6600 2.4ghz (o/c to 3.0) and with processor affinity tweaked in order to get all 4 proc operating under WoW (only 2 operating otherwise).

Why is your desk so tidy? Is it just me that plays in a shit tip?

No one else seems to have a messy desk or do you all just tidy it up for piccies?

Nice set up, I have 1x 22" Samsung 2232BW atm and am saving for a 2nd, but I will get my Quad Core and an 8800 before them as I have a second computer I can run them off for now.

@ LOS : they are very nice monitors indeed. Though I'm testing a new one MW221U from ASUS, about 10% cheaper in France and it's darn good. I think I'll continue with ASUS.

@ KHAYOS : I did clean the desk a bit for the picture, I admit 8)
