Well my 5x install went smoothly last night. Headed into the cold to face the assumed lag problems. Wasn't that bad at all. Sure town had it's share of lag here and there but most of us will probably shoot straight to utgarde keep anyway.
Speaking of which... I zone into UK about 3AM with work less than 4 hours away I decided to browse around rather than attempt to clear it. Ended up facing off against the first boss only one time and due to my characters only spending about 3 hours /played at 70 and in mostly quest greens and a few blues it was a wipe at 8%. Interesting boss fight and this instance is very cool so far. The boss won't pose problems for my group of druid,priest,3xMage.
The boss seems pretty straight forward tank&spank with 2 additons. 4 Skeleton adds that get rez'd periodically throughout the fight and an ice trap similar to the demon chains on illhoof. These two seemed to occur at roughly the same time every time for my one attempt and were dealth with easily enough by the massive aoe of 3xArcane explosion and holy nova. However due to the aoe spams my mages ran out of mana with the boss at 10% and i watched the fight slowly turn for the worse as I tried to figure out why I didn't buff or make mana gems or even bind evocate to a button pre fight  So as I watched the skeleton adds /lol me to death I chalked up the wipe to it being 3:30AM and work starting in 3 hours I called it a night.
After this I'm curious though. What groups are being run by the community and which ones have what strenghts/weaknesses in what instances. Has anyone in beta or with abundant free time looked at the mechanincs of the non heroic northrend instances? What are we in store for... are there ones we will have trouple 5 boxings?

I had trouble with the last boss in UK with my 1x Pali (Kara/Badge Gear) and 4x Shamans (All S2, 2S3, 1S4 Geared) but it was mainly due to learning the fight mechanics and having to pay attention to moving out of his smash and stopping my casting when he did his huge interupt ability. This is the only instance I've run in the expansion though. I was rather suprised with the difficulty of the first instance compared to my gear. I can see people in quest greens having lots of trouble.

That's the first thing I did when I logged in was to head to Utegarde and I think I wiped about 7 times on that last fight (5 x shaman group); but I finally killed him then headed off to bed to get 3 hours of sleep before work :p

I was rather suprised with the difficulty of the first instance compared to my gear. I can see people in quest greens having lots of trouble.I know TBC starting instances were designed for new 60s or people with lesser gear to do a few quests first then hit the instances. The group I ran with back then was full T2 or more and we had some issues the first few times through ramparts. We cleared it but had rough spots. This sounds like it is shaping up to be similar.

I'll probably go there for a for a little less then a week (when everything cools down, this weekend is going to get hit hard). I might just skip the last boss. I'm going there just for xp, so having wipes kills the xp per hour. So cutting out this guy and just resetting might just be better xp wise.

I,m thinking the same thing. One thing that i noticed on the first boss is that grounding totems don't suck up his shadowbolts. But if they did the fight would be too easy i guess. Also there are two mining nodes otw to second boss 8) And lots of skinning. Great place to farm for a level or two.

I find the new instance super funny and a grat challenge for boxers, when i first go to nitherend i zoned in to utgarde, had to learn wiped totaly 3 times, 2 on trah 1 on first boss.
after doing that instance 3 times i moved on to the nexus, first 3 bosses were jokes, but the final boss was a real hard one, but atleast the gy is just next to the instance and that boss is staning just at the zonein ish, had him down after 5 trys. But i didet want to go again i found that instance wired, so i moved on
My next stop was azjol-nerub, fastes instance ever :P , the first to bosses were jokes, its that wave trash before the bosses thats hard here but tank and spank just remeber to heal, The trash before the last boss had a nice suprice when thay die :) i ended op having less then 100hp on 3 of my shamans, last boss was kinda hard, had to chain heal alot and went oom, but atleast he dosent have that mucth hp, so i got him down in my first try had one shaman die in that fight

Im trying not to get discouraged here, but im wiping on the first boss in UK. i can get em to 52% but then the skellies just become too much with the iceblocks needing to be broke, my dps drops off . Im HOPING its my gear, cause I PLOWED through some instances of the appropriate level in BC. My other issue is healing, i find myself with TONS of mana on the druid, but him not being able to keep everyone up. Im "driving" with my tankadin and have assorted F1-F10 keys for healing and types of healing on the druid. He just doesnt seem to be able to cover everyone in an AOE situation ... and definately not like a 4 shaman chain heal ( im jealous ). I find that i spend a lot of time trying to JUST keep the MT healed. If more than 2 people are taking damage Wild growth isnt fast enough ( or doesnt heal for enough with my current gear).. **sigh**. Do you professionals that have cleared Heroics easy have any suggestions? Thanks guys
