When the same thing happened with the T6 shaman set, they removed it from anyone who got only one of each. People who abused it and took multiples of each got 3-day account bans :D

I hope there resolution is too give everyone free S4. Are they really going to spend time/money trying to roll back outdated gear? I am kind of pissed I didn't stay awake for the servers to come back on line last night.

The 3 hour maintenance today is to remove it all. I took some, I wanted to see if I could keep it, for my lock, I liked the idea of him running around in full S2, when he's never PvPed. :)
Oh well, he was semi-uber for a while, I guess he'll have to suffer in his Frozen Shadoweave epics for a while longer... :)

Oh well, he was semi-uber for a while, I guess he'll have to suffer in his Frozen Shadoweave epics for a while longer... :)I loaded my three locks and priest up on season 2 and decided, "now! Now I will be able to finish MgT! It'll probably be rolled back tomorrow but I will finally get the pleasure of multibox-killing Delrissa and her merry band!" Went to MgT, got slaughtered as badly as I ever do. In fact, I wiped twice on Vexallus because I decided that season 2 PvP gear trumped lame-ass blue arcane resist gear. It does not. PvE gear seems better for PvE than even really good PvP gear anyway ... maybe obvious to some, but not to me, until now. Frozen Shadoweave and Primal Mooncloth ftw! I don't miss the PvP stuff. :)
Wow, for people who claim to hold yourself up to high standards you all who took gear suck. Really...thank you very much for contributing to the servers being down again. Go ahead and tell me you really thought Blizzard was meaning to give away that gear for free...OMG. Asstards. I can understand idiots who don't multibox doing this and thinking they are going to get away with it but you know better and come here boasting about it, GTFO. I didn't donate to this site to see this shit.
Yeah, I'm in a bad mood from all the server downtime.

Yeah, I'm in a bad mood from all the server downtime.Blizzard would have taken the servers down to fix this whether anyone "took" anything or not. The multiboxing community has high standards in terms of hacks and cheats and botting. Blizzard accidentally making certain epic gear cost nothing doesn't fall into any of those categories. I'm pretty sure they don't manually remove each item from every person. The rollback would be a global action.

i didnt really care about it too much when i heard about it. i figured it would be fixed eventually anyway and i would have wasted time picking out gear that will disappear in a day.
now i wished i did buy some gear. at least to take screen shots of me wearing them if nothing else! lol.

Yeah, I'm in a bad mood from all the server downtime. The bug with PvP gear has nothing to do with the server downtime, and seeing how the servers didn't crash with thousands of people getting "free PvP gear," it didn't affect anything afterward either.
We knew they didn't mean to give it away free, but in the slim chance they wouldn't delete the items (they didn't delete the Mojo pet from everyone who got it from the bug) I didn't want to be left out.
People who were obviously abusive and filled their inventory with multiple copies of the item, I agree with you about them :).

Each of those database operations takes a small amount of time. Multiplied by hundreds of thousands and may millions of times it adds up contributing to longer down time. Yes it would have happened anyway because of others taking the gear but why come here boasting about taking some yourselves and looking like asshats?

This isn't true. The downtime this morning was due to the PVP gear.

The maintenance message when you login clearly states as such "This maintenance is designed to correct a very recent issue where players were able to obtain certain PvP items without paying the intended price."
How one could misinterpret this, I'm at a loss to understand.

Seeing reports of free gear being gone, looks like an item by item roll back. One dude gemmed some free stuff out and wants his 400G from the item being taken back. Also seeing players that had legit purchases lose the gear, get honor back but not marks. Also hearing that people who got some S4 weapons with no rating cost are getting to keep them.
I am still at work. What are you guys seeing? I wish they would pull the rating requirements off the gear. I am at arena point cap with nothing left to buy on a couple of toons I 2v2 with my daughter. We are generally terrible but have fun playing together. It would be nice to be able to use the points, even if the gear is obsolete tomorrow. And I know there is a gear reset but top gear won't be reset with the first new drop. BWL and Naxx weapons were not replaced until 68 and 70 blues, respectively. My Thunderfury was arguablly the best tanking weapon through T5 and beyond, even after the nerfed it. Heck right before TBC came out and we converted to the current Honor system, the HWL/GM gear was essentially free.

Oh please, all they have to do is for [all pvp gear purchases between patch and now] remove items, refund any honor spent. DONE, WOW THAT WAS HARD. Quit being such a weenie. Do you really, I mean cmon REALLY, think that they go through each purchase of s2 items last night by hand? If you do you are truly naive. The power of a database it the ability to alter and retreive many items quickly. Grow a brain.

I see only one person who actually tried to use the gear to do anything. You've used quite a vocabulary of insults, when I think the vast majority of the community here would be against using this to meaningfully exploit the game. Also, I'm pretty sure that running a script to rollback items would take the same amount of time whether 10 or 1 million people did it. You should direct your anger at Blizzard.

Wow, you really made youself look like an idiot with this post. IT'S A GAME. Get a hold of yourself.
So... I've got the honor points to spend, and need the gear to help me level to 80. I show up at the gear vendor to buy my gear and it's free. Free or not, I'm getting gear. Apparently I was the first person to notice this on my realm because the place was empty.

Certain gear costing nothing is a bug. Purchasing that gear during this time is taking advanatage of a bug, this is against the EULA and TOS that YOU agreed too. Blizzard also has high standards in terms of abusing bugs in-game. It's a shame really that probably no action/discipline will be handed out as so many took part. But this is no excuse to do it. I for one didn't.

It's like rushing the boss with all guns blazing when you know you've got a savegame to fall back on. Who cares? Enjoy it while you can, it's only temporary.

Its hillarious the colossal cries from people like Xar something like this causes simply because their classs cant get it.
My priests got virtually same sorta gear anyway, although I grabbed it all on each just for same reason someone else said, the off chance it doesnt get taken back :D I didnt care either way though so close to the exp. What you should be QQ'ing about is all the people that grabbed S4 weapons without the rating or something that still got them, and by the looks of things will be keeping it, im just upset I didnt realise S4 gear was up for grabs also haha
One of my priests actually didnt get the leg piece rolled back, but when I went to equip it from the bank it just dissapeared lol
Either way I aint gonna whinge about someone else getting new gear through bug or not because I realise at the end of the day its a game and im not a whinging SKIRT.

No, it means Blizzard screwed up.
A vendor displaying the wrong price is simply incorrect data being sent from the serverside, not a legitimate bug built into the game code. There's nothing outside normal gameplay mechanics involved in using a vendor or even in a vendor having stuff for free.

Incorrect data being sent from the serverside...sounds like a bug to me. And it is outside normal gamelay mechanics because they are not normally free.
If lb started doing 1million dmg when tremor totem was down...I wouldn't use it. I'd suck it up and wait for it to be fixed. Pretty sure that would get hotfixed dam fast too...wouldn't want end game bosses to be downed in 10 seconds now would you?

Actually if it did 1 million per LB and you went and solod BT to get the best gear you could... they prolly would give you a 3 day vacation for exploiting a known bug.
And to everyone on either side of the argument please just relax :)
