Main is a warrior. Slave is an elemental shaman. When my warrior charges, I want the shaman to stand still and start casting lightning bolt. As it is now, the shaman runs all the way upt to the warrior before I can cast. Sounds simple, but I can't get /follow to stop following...

you could add to the shaman's cast macro at the beginning
/follow
If you have a mob targeted it may break the follow from your current "leader." I haven't tried that though.
If that doesn't work, before the /follow add /tar YourNameHere so you try to follow yourself.

Last i checked there was no way to stop following with a macro command. The only thing I can think of is to use autohotkey to have a specific button press actually press your turn left button momentarily prior to the actual spell cast. I'm not sure of the legality of using autohotkey, however, since it can be used to automate certain functions and blizzard may not approve. I don't use it because of this.

Don't automate it at all.
Tap your back arrow key (you did keep the arrow keys off of the DNP list right?) just before you hit your macro that does the charge and lightning bolt.

No matter how many guys I have on follow, they always are controllable with the arrow keys. Tapping backwards on the arrow stops the follow and allows them to stand there and cast. You can even turn them like this.

Cool.. that does it. Actually solves other problems for me as well (like when I'm not facing the right way).
Thanks.

Thanks. This is how I set it up right from the start - I unbound the arrow keys from my warrior account and only pass through 1,2,3,4 and the arrow keys and a few other keys on Alt so Alt-H casts healing, Alt-U casts Dismount, Alt-R casts Riptide, etc.
