View Full Version : Best way to prep fresh 70s for the expansion?

So only 9 days to go till the expansion - it came quicker than I thought. I just blasted 1-69 in a few weeks, while still working. Plan to hit 70 tomorrow night.
Had all these grand plans - grind out my seaosn 2 mace, hit kharazan and za with another boxer, grind some heroics... But is this really even worth it considering I'll only have 7 days? I won't even have my normal flyers for a few days at least.
My goal is to go right into the new content and continue to do instances as I have been from 61-70. I know the gear will become obsolete really quick so I don't wanna waste the few days I have.
I'm sure there are a lot of other boxers in this same situation with all the fresh 70 RAF teams tee'd up.
What's your plan for the next week?

Do you stop getting rested xp when you hit 70? If this is the case it might be smart to just park the toons in a city/inn for 9 days and try to acrue as much rested xp as possible. It is either do this or farm gold by doing dailies.`

If your into the achievements at all and know you will probably back track in the future to complete some of them, might as well do it now. Otherwise, grind dailies for money.
Personally, I'd probably go the money route.

Actually Blizz posted that as of 3.0.2 (last big patch) rested began to accrue for players at maximum level.
So ideally, you'd like all 70's to have one-week total time in an inn, for their 1.5 levels of rested.
It was in the 3.0.2 patch notes.
If you're fresh to 70, questing will probably be your best bet for gold. Dailies are good too; anything where you do something once, and are rewarded once per toon.
The other option will be Battlegrounds, trying to attain 75k honor and 100 marks from each, just for a slight head start on PvP gear at 80th.
kill a bit of scourge for the easiest and fastest 4-piece epic set.

Yeah I'll definitely be doing dailies on my 9 toons for the gold. But that's only about 60-80 minutes a day. Rest of the time.. not sure.
As far as stockpiling honor, I swear I Just read a blue post from about a month ago saying honor was being reset entirely so 80s wouldn't get a head start on gear. Is that still the case>

Arena points will reset when you ding 71, thats is the only pvp thing that will reset, you will keep your honor and marks. And already purchased gear.

level your alt team, anything small gains you make in gear now will be fast outclassed by quest greens in Lich King. I'm currently getting my warrior up to cap, oh, and my warlock team for pvp fun.

I'd suggest doing dailies and working on any professions that aren't 350 since the new recipes will start around 350. Gathering professions should be maxed out so you can be ahead of the curve and they cost you nothing. Another thing would be to complete as many level 70 group quests as you can and sit on them in completed state so you can turn them in for a quick boost of XP after you install the XPac. I wouldn't save dailies since you can always do them again, but some of those big chains in SMV and Netherstorm have nice XP.

A buddy of mine verified our current daily quests give XP in the last version of the Beta, so saving up 25 completed daily quests on 11/12 to turn em in for an initial XP boost right after installing wrath is a good thing...
While current quests don't give nearly as much xp as Northrend quests (the "Welcome to Northrend" quest is 10k xp apparently), taking 5-10 minutes to turn in 25 BC quests and dailys makes up at least of Northrend collection quests that are a pain for us multiboxers and usually get bypassed...

What's your plan for the next week?Short anwser: No, it's not worth it.
Long anwser: Run some normal and heroic instances for fun and to more important work on getting macros/setups a bit more ironed out on your fresh new team, but don't bother burning yourself out grinding like a mad man since you're just going to be doing it again next week and the gear from next week is going to easily replace anything you can get now.

Run grab 5 friends and run Kara and ZA,, each take < 2 hours. Tons of epics + badges to be had, especially when no one else your with needs any of the stuff. Hard to be the time:loot ratio of these places. Also good times

Hundreds of players will be changing professions to level from scratch along with a flurry of new DKs rerolling with all manner of professions, so I'd say if you have the patience keep hold of all mats that are are useful levelling pretty much any professions 1-350
