core hound leveling

I've picked up some of those core hounds from the exodar beginner area and they seem to be leveling extreamly slowly.
two of my hunters have played with them for more than a week and they are still 4 levels below the hunters. They ones I just got today are 5 levels below the hunters as per the limit.
everytime I dismount my pets show up as having 1/2 health and it jumps to 100% health, I assume that at the time I dismount they are at their true level for split second before the hunter level-5 kicks in.

how do I level these guys I've played with them for a week and I've been using them non-stop, do I have to find something level appropriate for the level 10 or so they are supposed to be?

Are you level 70? Wouldn't it be better to just tame a core hound from say the ogri'la area or something?

the one on Azuremyst Isle is the only white one.

If your 70,I found the best way to lvl your pet is by doing dailies in Quel Danas.
All mobs are 70-71 takes about 4-5 days,faster if you are doing other outstanding quests.
I rolled the 2 activities into gold farming for my alts.

NO, the mob has to be able to give you xp (not grey to you) for your pet to get xp. From experience on my hunter, my gorilla was getting about 90% of a level on just the QD dailies.

I think I was level 63 when I picked up the first two, I'm currently level 67 and the oldest ones just dinged 65 so maybe they are catching up.

I suppose I can trade up when I get to 70 but I've become a little attached to my white ones... I've been playing fetch with them and all.
