Question about professions

I have heard that a lot fo recipes will not drop in instances unless there is at least one person that can use them. If this is true should I have my team cover the different crafting professions : enchanting, jewlcrafting, blacksmithing, engineering, etc?

1. Do I have to have the skill level to use it, or just have it trained?

2. Are these BOE? or as some of them BOP?

Personally I would love my jewler, who is not on my multibox team to reap the benefit of jewlery recipes if possible. All the needed ones go for over 300 gold at the AH and I hate paying those prices.

There are many BOE JC patterns as you can see on the ah but those patterns are world drops. The instance specific BOP patterns will only show when that profession is carried by one of the group members. You can have 1 skill point and loot the item. Chanting, tailoring etc have bop's and they are usually on trash mobs.

You have to be careful though. Those BoP recipes only show up for the person with that profession, so if you don't have a screen for each toon, an auto greed roll mod or alt tab after every time you loot...you won't know when it drops.

or set the loot to free-for-all and yeh get to see it but cant pick it up.

I was specifically hoping BOE dropped off of bosses if someone had the skill trained. I really don't intend to have my boxing team persue professions themselves. Thanks for the information though.
