ServerMB with 32G system Ram and 64 Bit operating system is the best solution (about $1000) 800+MB/s
http://www.tyan.com/product_board_detail.aspx?pid=163
All the rest will work in 32 bit OS:
Next up is RamDrive 16G (about $800) [thanks to Aboron] 400MB/sec
http://www.acard.com/english/fb01-product.jsp?idno_no=270&prod_no=ANS-9010&type1_title=%20Solid%20State%20Drive&type1_idno=13
Then we have SSD, there are many posts in this forum for links. About $100-$300 150MB/sec
And finally HDD $190 for 1.5TB 120MB/sec?

hmm i like the look of that ram disk, i haven't seen something quite like that before. i'd give it a try if it wasn't $400! :P memory prices are way low right now, you could pick up 16GB (should be plenty for storing/symlinking wow) for under $200

There's a more expensive one with eight. You could install 12GB without moving to 4GB sticks, which I believe still cost an arm and a leg due to being rarely used outside the server market.

I just got the 8 slotter RAM from Acard over the weekend (was waiting to actually see it arrive before buying the ram). Now just waiting for 8x ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231181 ) and 1x ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211244 ) which should be here shortly, in the tradition of newegg.
I'll run a few benchmarks before and after and post them up here (probably this weekend, since it involves putting in a fresh install of windows and all the related setup time).
All things considered, most people might find it cheaper to switch to hardware 5 boxing than buying 1 of these.

Nice I look forward to your findings.

aboron,
very cool I have seen several boxers on Earthen Ring. I tried talking to one fellow but he was not very engaging.
I have my shamans/paladin up to 65 and stopped like you to try and level another 5 toons. I started 5 BE casters (3 mages - 1 Lock - 1 Priest) we just hit 25 so not too far behind you.
I am desperately trying to get to 60 before RAF expires on me in 7 days. I am out of town most of next week so this might not happen. I need enough points to gift a rogue up to 60 I need lockpicking!
My guild is Gnome Land Security I will keep and eye out for you maybe we can 10 box sometime.
