tank is main (i will make it where i can spam buttons 1/2/3/4 with most used tank talents)

3 dps ( 1/2/3/4 will be all fireballs/shadowbolts, that kind of thing)

With my healer, on his action bar, do i set it to heal every time i push 1/2/3/4 or do i setit to heal only when i need the heals?

General statement:
Separate buttons for healing. You'd burn through all your mana way too fast the other way.

Personal setup:
I set up my F1-F5 keys to Healing Wave on each of my party members, and I have another set of 5 keys (on an extended keyboard) to chain heal on each. Before I got the nice keyboard, I had shift-F1-shift-F5 doing the chain heals.

Consolidate your buttons for tanking and dps, mash that button to make things dead. On a separate button, put your healing macro. Mash that button when needed.

Before combat, I smash the 1 button to drop totems, buffs, etc. To start combat, I click AS. In combat I smash the 2 button. To heal, i push the 3 button when needed. Button 4 is bubble/bandage and earth elementals, Button 5 is fire elementals and angel wings. Button 6 is trinkets/NS/EP/taunt (aka the Oh Shit I need to make it go away button).

Shift+F1-F5 are my dedicated stop casting healing macros.

ive found so far that i hardly ever have to heal (only about once per fight after i got past RFC). all my tank abilities are unbound except my seal and judgement which are bound to my side mouse buttons (im thinking about swapping out the seal for consecrate now that i dont have to refresh it every time i judge though). 1/2 are pet attack/fireball,shadowbolt and 3 is heal the tank. i have other spells like warlock DoTs mapped out around the board but i mainly just use those three buttons. now im still in old world content but so far i havent had any problems. i also have healbot as big as it gets on the healer window and if i need to i can just click over on it and top some one off in a pinch, but im gonna look into that f1-f5 idea it sounds real good.

how could you not have to heal much thoguh?

You aggro mobs with your tank (say 4 mobs in a group)
they all jump on your tank and start nailing him (which seems would be mega dmg and would need healing)
while all the dps focus the same target your tanking?

i dont know i was expecting to heal way more as well but ive found that after the initial low level dungeons i only really have to heal much on boss fights or accidental double group pulls. maybe im just getting good gear or something but my tank get healed once maybe twice per 3-4 pull. and yes dps just pummels the tanks target. now boss fights are a different story and they gerenrally take 5-6 heals. my healer never drinks and has never gone oom yet. its really strange and at this point im wondering how all the pug's i used to join ever wiped... ive only died once since rfc and that was in sm cathedral when i was i think 33 and accidentally pulled about 9 dudes and got caught way off guard.

I use a resto druid to heal, and I spam that rotation of rejuv,lb,lb,lb,etc. as often as I do the dpser blasts (and I mash the button, so I'm casting a heal every 1.5 seconds).

I use the mouse on the healer's machine, along with Clique and Lifebloomer to just do click heals on toons other than the tank. Sometimes I have to halt mashing the attack button for a moment, but it works well enough.

Now that my priest/locks team is into their 30s, I finally set up the F/T/L setup on them. Granted, I don't have a tank (except for 3 voidwalkers), but my priest is the "main" and doesn't cast anything but heals, using Clique. While the warlocks are casting, I just click whoever looks like they need a renew, or if they all lifetap, I shift click each portrait to cast a heal. When doing a high-kill quest (or a collection quest that leads to a chain) I just tab, 123, tab, 123 (CoA, Corruption, Immolate) and life tap. As I'm running to the next group, click each portrait for a renew. I can clear a pretty large area without ever drinking since my priest only heals. Going to try some instances pretty quick with that setup and see how it goes.

I have tanking, DPS and healing on three separate places. I want the tank to be able to gain aggro without DPSing and I want the healer to be able to heal only when needed. I also have a separate DPS button for the healer in case healing isn't needed.
