my wife hates wow, bc it takes so much time to play. She would rather me play PS3 anyday. The reason is, bc it takes so much time to play. to have decent gear, you have to be online at CERTAIN times, which is not dictated by you. You have to be on when the playerbase is on. Which sucks for me. My main playing time is when she is at work 8am-5pm (I work offshore 14 days a month so when she is at work, i chill at the house). Saying that I say this.

I dont like to play when she gets home from work because i like to spend time with my family. But ive been playing wow for years and id like to not drop it, being my favorite hobby i guess.

I have always wanted to PVE, but i couldnt due to schedule and real life stuff. So i began to PVP in TBC... Now, you have to have an arena rating in WOTLK just to get BG gear, which also sucks for me. Because due to my schedule, I play every other 2 weeks, and i cant keep a stable arena partner.

Now with multiboxing, i can dictate my play time. I am going to try 5 WoW on 1 screen, and do it for PVE mainly. When she goes to work, I will have 8 hours to run any instance I want to (5man)(heroic) and get all the loot, which in itself will be the most fun in wow ive ever had it seems.

I am so excited I found this, and everyone has been so helpful. Cant wait to try it when i get home (im offshore atm so i had alot of time to research it, so ill be ready when i get home)

Welcome to a new level of addiction.

It'll be tough at first while you're trying to configure everything, but once you do you'll knock yourself in the head for not discovering multiboxing earlier.

I dont like to play when she gets home from work because i like to spend time with my family.I like you. I've been making an effort to spend time with my other half when she is around rather than being a "munt" on the computer. It's very rewarding.

I started multi-boxing because I could never get a group to do the content I wanted. It's a blast, however many toons you box with. I really hope you enjoy your "new" hobby. It seems like you are on the right track.

Where can I read about this?

Yes, multiboxing is my ticket to seeing some raid content without having to work my time around a guild. Not because I don't like other people, but because it's hard to find the time every night all year round to raid raid raid raid....

What's a "munt"?
Urban word: The meaning I take on the word is this (there are actually many other connotations and meanings, where I'd rather not go):

The popular Australian meaning is to be broken or unusable.

Hey dude I drove over a squirrel the other day. I've got it here - look its completely munted!

I multibox for the same reasons. After the kid is in bed and before my much better half gets home from work, usually 1 to 1.5 hours per day a few times a week. Multiboxing is definately the way to go if you'd like to keep playing but now completely on your own schedule.

Playing on your own schedule is the #1 reason I multibox.

I've noticed that I play fewer hours when multiboxing, but I actually get more done.

I can run into instances without spending 30minutes to an hour looking for people. Being able to heal and rez yourself is a HUGE deal. If I lose one of the toons, it's not a catastrophe. Heck, it isn't a big deal to wipe either. Just run one guy back and have him rez everyone else.

My 5 shaman are now level 28 and I just did Stockades last nite. Was pretty cool to run around and blast everything. Yup, I died a bunch because my fire totems aggroed 6 guys, but i still had fun.

i can see that all of you doing multiboxing for the same reason as i do
before i start boxing i was in guild the guild said we missing hunter so i lvl hunter till i become 70 there was so many hunters in guild than we need tank so i start lvl warrior the same happened againd it makes me angry so i get another 4acc and now i am happy as never;-)))

i have only one problem with it the HC dungeons eg ramparts till i get to the second boss i am totaly red and have to go to repair shop ;-( i think i am doing something wrong hmm what i am saying is that running HC is not that easy as i thought it will be hmm

no matter what you will enjoi it so much ;-)

I started multiboxing not for the schedual, personally... Then again I live on disability so it's not as if I have a tight schedual to keep anyways. :P

The main reason I started multiboxing was because I knew it was more difficult than uniboxed play. Sure, it trivializes most of questing. But dungeons? So much more interesting now. I *always* used to tell myself that if only I could be the tank, healer AND dps all at once we wouldn't have wiped on this pull or that. With all the PVE content in my own hands, I have nobody to blame but myself, and that's comforting because I trust myself to improve.

PVP content, however, is why I love and play WoW. Irony that, since I'm on an RP server. Either way, the intense amount of challenge offered by multiboxing is the bread and butter of why I play.

Heh, my wife would MUCH rather I play WoW (or any computer game) then a console game. She's got a whole schedule of shows she watches. I have to wait until she goes to bed to play any console games :-(

I'm in the same boat :) I do one 10 man and one 25 man every week, outside of that I'm running my 5 box team just so I can progress on my own schedule. I log in every night and run instance X knowing when I'll start, when I'll be done. It's nice to clear partway, go eat dinner for 30 minutes, and come back to continue without impacting anyone else :)

Boxing definatly saves the stress from LFG.

Absolutely man, multiboxing is SO much better for the family, my wife and kids whole heartedly agree. I made a lot of these points on TheBigBB's thread So, my guild flamed the hell out of me for leaving... ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=15677') which I won't bother retyping here.

Grats man and enjoy the adventure (on YOUR time table)

same reason as me more or less.

soloing in a manner of speaking, my own instances means i can do what i want how i want it.
without looking for lfg or dealing with pugs that gotta leave and dont know how to play there class.
having the option to take 5 or 20 min breake while inside a instance without having the feeling off,
oo there are guys waiting for me i should hurry back.

its a pleasent feeling to know that when i box i am my own master :)

I curse the day EQ patched in the ability to use /follow. I two boxed BEFORE that, but when /follow went in i was ruined for life. You do not give an alt addict a good reason to get MORE alts! DAMN IT!! 8)
