View Full Version : Warlock Pet Changes?

I am getting really annoyed at this, but now every time I tell my lock to attack she sends her pet in as well. I used to be able to simply keep her pet on Defensive and until a mob actually hit her (or damaged her) the pet would obediently stay at her side. In terms of grinding, this isn't so bad - I don't have to think about sending the pet in - but when fighting boss mobs I want that pet at full health and 0 threat until I decide it is time for them to enter the fray. It really messed me up on the HH encounter just now (downed him twice without a death/issue) because my VW just kicked my Pallies ass for threat (when you are busy trying to keep everyone healed and DPS pouring in ... sometimes it's really hard to get back up on the threat charts) no threat = no attacks = no block/dodge/parry = no mana. Tank with no mana = wipe. Grrr.
End result: Where is this change documented? Am I smoking something? Am I the only one that has noticed this?

Didn't really sort all that out, but make a macro like this:
/cast Shadow Bolt
/petfollow

Care to link? I dug through the forums and didn't find anything. Sorry, but the search tool there is horrible.
/cast Shadow Bolt
/petfollow
Not an option because it will keep the pet at the player's side through the whole combat ... meaning that even if I sent the pet into combat they would return to the warlock at the next cast.

That's what I've done. sigh. They should put an interface option for it in the UI - like "pet autoattack on cast" or some such.

I don't know...the "attack if master is attacked" behavior just never seemed useful to me. I was always either adding a /petattack to emulate the current behavior, or using passive for full manual control.

I was wondering why my hunters pet was attacking when I starting blastinfoolz, ohwell I like the change. One less key to enter.

Like I said above - it is nice when I am grinding - but I want the option to turn it off. They have a ton of other options like that on the Combat pane - seems like it woulnd't be too hard to do. I'd just uncheck it when I went into an instance.

If you don't want your pet to zealously attack your target, put it on passive.
While on defensive, your pet effectively believes anything you have attacked to have hit you. At least according to how it used to work.
