View Full Version : WoW crashing question, Keyclone?

Greetings all,
I got Keyclone registered and configured yesterday. I was running my two accounts (on one machine) without any problems for about an hour. Then I got an invite to tank BM. So, I exited out of my second account, switched the primary to maximized windowed mode and exited Keyclone.

Well, over the next 30 minutes, WoW crashed on me 6 or 7 times giving a critical error. I didn't think to write down the error, but it allowed me to log right back in each time. (makes it hard to tank BM when you keep dropping btw) Anyways, I wanted to know if this was a conflict with my Keyclone installation or if it was pure luck that it happened after I started using it.

I have never had WoW crash on me before and have been using the same addons for several months. I was going to run disk defrag and check disk tonight, but wanted to get an outside opinion first.

Thanks for any ideas,
Narcyn

As an IT Monkey my first question is "Did you restart your computer after the crashes or did you just start wow again?"

Lol, yeah I should have mentioned that I did restart after 2 crashes and several more followed afterwards. We left BM, I logged out of WoW, restarted again and went off to quest on the same toon. Worked fine for the next half hour, but didn't get to test any further.

I honestly didn't think it was a Keyclone issue, but wanted to confirm from someone smarter than me.

Well, I can not speak as to being smarter than you but I have been using keyclone for the past three months with no problem like this. I would update your mods (if any) and verify your wow install.

Are you running both wow clients off the same wow install or did you copy the folder? FYI this information will not help ME at all in helping you but may help someone else.

Noting down the error which crashed you would probably give us the best idea of the problem :-)

Ok Ok, shame on me. I should have known better, but BM was calling my name. I'll monitor it and get the error if it happens again.

just a thought i'm throwing out, try this:

after you repeat exactly what you did to get it to crash...leave the instance and get another group to quest with.

i'm just going out on a limb and wondering if this Keyclone is trying to send information to the others in you party; even though you exited out of it.

also there should be a log file: Program Files\WoW Folder\Errors\<last error file to date> should contain the errors you recieved.

Knowing what keyclone is would probably help you not make statements like this.

Keyclone replicates keystrokes made on one machine to another machine that is running keyclone. So you press the "K" key on one machine and it's like pressing the "K" key on both machines. It does NOT send info or anything else to "party members".

as an FYI... keyclone was not created specifically for warcraft. it has no concept of the programs that it is managing. if it did, that would be one of the grounds for banning (or at least a step in that direction)

i'm sorry to hear about your crash... but crashes do happen, occasionally (anyone remember win98??)

if you can repeat and by removing keyclone you are not crashing, then that is something to be remedied. let me know if that is the case.
