Hi guys, I have been 5 boxing on 1 pc with a single 8800GT Im now getting to the point where I would like a seperate screen for each character. I have a couple of spare fairly old gforce cards with only a single lcd input. I was wondering if I stick them in my 2 spare pci slots and plug 2 monitors into the 8800GT, and 1 monitor into each of the old gforce cards would I experience a slow down in performance? I read somewhere that the 8800GT would have to process all the information and then send it on to the older cards to be processed again, Am I right to think that the older cards would slow down the speed significantly? I havent tested it yet because I need to pick up a couple more monitors. Anyway if the case is that the older cards would cause a slowdown would I be better off grabbing another 8800GT and plugging another 2 monitors into that instead?

Just trying to work out the most effective way to run 1 client per monitor

Thanks for any help u can give :)

Read through this post :

1 PC, 2-3 monitors ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=133026')

From what I can tell the problem you will have is that with same brand cards (geforce) they all must be able to use the same drivers. So if your other cards are too old they wont be able to use the current drivers like your 8800gt. If the cards were a different brand (ati) then it wouldnt matter.

Aha thanks for digging that out for me, the driver problem makes sense to me now. I will get another 8800GT then and stick that in there to give me 4 monitor ports :)

Might want to try a triplehead2go .. http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/

This will drive three screens from one video card.

Thanks, that could also solve the problem, unfortunately they are pretty expensive, will work out cheaper to get another 8800gt :)
