View Full Version : Party Monitor and Part Sort Modification
Slats

Hi,
I have finally started to utilize my X-Keys for healing etc and OMG some of the things I can do with it are so hot.
Currently for healing I am using macros like this:
/cast [target=Slats] Renew;
Stealing a little from Xzins layout on his X-Keys, I have all my Renews down one side.
My biggest problem is my party doesn't 'sort' into alphabetical order. My character names are:
Slats (Paladin)
Slatsw
Slatsx
Slatsy
Slatsz
Ideally I want the party leader (pally) to be at the top and WoW natrually puts the group leader at the top. I then want everyone else sorting out into alphabetical order so that the layout of my key macros matches my group so I can heal someone without looking too closely at their name.
Anyone got a mod for me? I would prefer to not change unit frames if I can, currently use AG_UF and Ace2 mod.

Change the unit frames or recode them. I don't see any other viable options really unless you switch to Pitbull or something.
Healbot might let you sort by class.... some other mods do as well.
Thus far it has always been a workaround - most mods don't have any reason to support this.

how does it sort? by who is added first? if so just make a script to invite each character in a set order.
never looked at that my self :{

Yeah my invite macro invites them in order. I havn't tested wether it is done this way though. Could be lag on my clones accepting the invites.
I have noticed however if I have a party of 5 and I kick out the person in party2() - lets say its Slatsz - when I reinvite Slatsz back into the party he goes back into party2() and not down to party5().
I really didn't like Pitbull, it was buggy as hell - and I love my ag_UF setup at the moment. I'm sure there must be a mod or a way of doing this.
Any other ideas?

Doesn't matter which order you invite them in. My team always stacks up in one particular way.
On main it will be: Paladin, shammy, mage1, mage2, mage3.
On my healer it will always be: shammy, paladin, mage1, mage2, mage3.
I can't figure out why they always go this way, but it's not alphabetical.

I just recently re-starting multiboxing (from scratch) and when creating my new party I wanted to make sure my party is in the order I wanted them (tank, healer, dps, dps, dps)
After much experimentation it turns out WoW orders the party in the reverse order of the absolute character creation time.
I.e if you create toona, then toonb, then toonc then party them up with another leader the order will be:
leader, toonc, toonb, toona.
So if you want your party "in order" make your last toon first and your leader last
It works.

PS: Conversely (other then party leader) you can tell who in the party created the character before you did. The characters listed before you are newer then you. The ones listed after you are veterans ;)

Your going to run into a problem because of your palidin's name compaired to your clones names...
Slats
Slatsw
Slatsx
Slatsy
Slatsz
When you /follow Slats it is not always going to get the Paladin because follow only looks for a name that starts with what you say...
is "/follow Slats" hits Slatsw before Slats your going to follow Slatsw...
I ran into that problem and had to remake my names...
Went from:
Wyvrn
Wyvrnssting
Wyvrnsteeth
Wyvrnsclaws
to
Wyvrn
Awyvrnssting
Awyvrnsteeth
Awyvrnsclaws

Absolutly correct.... I found this out over a year ago when I started multiboxing... and when I create new characters I make them in reverse order of the way I want them stacked. I have 4 teams now and its worked for every one.
This is why I named them X A B C D and then stack X at the top with Pitbull and problem solved.
There IS the name change feature now though :)

If there ever will be issues, the new command /targetexact (will be added in 2.3.0) will fix them :p
What it does is probably self-explanatory.

Where do you read these changes?

Hey, that's very interesting to know.... Makes perfect sense!

I assumed (yes i know the saying) that wow created your group alphabetically. I just got lucky on my first group then in the way I made the group. However, with my 2nd group I just made 5 toons and didn't care about what order I made them in. The names are all over the place which is fine at least it is consistent so I made my macros to correspond with the current group setup. However, when I do BGs my party order is flip flopped around and it's not always the same some BGs Lolshawk is party 2 other games Lawlzshawk is party 2. Anyone else know why this is or has anyone found a way to fix this ?
