Pros for Demo:
Easier instance runs with better tanking pets
Slightly better direct damage
Cons for Demo:
Much worse dot damage
no instant aoe fears
no siphon life
no unstable affliction
no haunt
no corruption crit (!!! BIG ONE)Additional pros for Demo:
Felguards chew faces off.
Felguards continue to chew rogue faces off even with Cloak of Skill up. Felguards continue to chew warlock faces off even when they proc the shadow/fire resist talent. Felguards continue to chew mage faces off even when that mage blinks out of range of you. Felguards continue to chew faces off even when you're silenced or OOM. Felguards continue to chew faces off even when they're LOS'ing you. Felguards continue to chew faces off while you're DoTting up other people Felguard charge stun = no running away from me on mounts. Soul link = 15% damage mitigation = huge benefit against high-DPS rogues or other burst classes. Quick and cheap pet recovery (instant every 15 minutes)
Lifetap gives mana to the pets as well.Realistically, it's a fair amount of eggs in one basket but when properly employed it does give you a roaming semi-intelligent DoT in addition to the rest of your DoTs. I've never had enough +spell damage to make it seem like affliction was worthwhile to me but I've not kept the spec for very long, either.

Uh. Did my last post just zap the OP? That's damn strange. Shows my posts at the top of the post history? Did a forum option change?

I'm planning to leave my affliction spec and change it into a demonology spec:
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?tal=000000000000000000000000000000523 301035012350011500100000000000000000000000000000
Just looking for thoughts & experiences about,in,over,under,.... warlock-spec's as dualboxer.

My personal opinion is to skip demonic sacrifice, master conjurer and demonic empowerment. I picked up Fel domination and master summoner as an Oh S**T button.
Of course, your preference may vary, but this is what I went with as I hit 50:

This is what I'm working towards at 70: (I may take one point any put into Metamorph if it really is all 'that'

Go Demonology. With my 5 locks, it's like a blender and you only have to put one DOT on just about anything (including other players) and the pets will do the rest. With the new addition of Fel Synergy, very rarely are any of the pets under full health. I can't wait for WOTLK and the ability to add the Siphon Life DOT to the arsenal. Should be a strong PVP spec for arena as well.

I debated this, having a demo lock already for solo play and leveling my 4 lock team as affliction, and decided for sure to stay affliction now at 64 (and probably at 70).
Pros for affliction:
Instant cast AoE fear times X (ie: no worrying about cooldown)
WAY more damage on dots (corruption can crit on each tick now!)
Much more self healing
Haunt is an awesome talent, for both PvE and PvP (20% more damage and getting healed when the spell ends? hell yes)
Draining life so fast it can kill a target by itself in one cast? Yes please
Dot, run, dot, run, dot, run, dot, run, howl of terror, dot, run, dot, run, dot, run, dot, run, howl of terror (repeat forever or until you're ready to loot 30-40 corpses)
Can now also get soul link if you sacrifice Haunt or wait until 71, which is all I wanted from Demo anyway (primarily for PvP)
Primarily used for pvp and awesome for it
Cons for affliction
No felguard
Worse for instance running unless you pick up fel vitality and the improved void talent on all locks
Pros for Demo:
Easier instance runs with better tanking pets
Slightly better direct damage
Cons for Demo:
Much worse dot damage
no instant aoe fears
no siphon life
no unstable affliction
no haunt
no corruption crit (!!! BIG ONE)
Honestly every time I think I want to respec demo I look at the talents again, write out the pros and cons, and decide overwhelmingly to stay affliction. I can almost level as fast grinding as I can questing as affliction because I can kill 30 mobs in far less time than it takes to finish a single quest. (rested xp for 30 mobs around my level is like 10-11k xp) Usually if I dont feel like looting but want xp while im questing, as I'm going from one location to another i just dot everythign i pass and aoe fear periodically and get an extra 10-20k xp just traveling between quest locations lol.

i have several locks, including a pair of 70's.
My current RAF group (Lv-50) (3xlocks, 2xpriest) has affliction locks, and they're staying that way until at least level 70. I don't instance much while leveling, as I find questing (especially with RAF bonus prior to level 60) to be as fast, and more fun. Affliction locks can take on an almost unlimited number of non-elite mobs at once, expecially with a priest to do AOE healing to refill the life taps. We rip through mobs so fast, that any more damage would just be wasted.
Felguards from demo builds are fun, but slower to level with, as they' run out of mana very quickly when doing non-stop killing. Voidwalkers, however seem to do fine in the mana consumption department, and make pretty good tanks.
I'd recommend staying alliction until at least outlands, and even then only consider a re-spec to demo if you want to run instances. Against non-elite mobs encountered while leveling, the advantages of an affliction build are just to great to give up.

I like affliction a lot, but I do a lot of my levelling by running instances almost exclusively. It is with this in mind that Demo is clearly the best choice. When the 4 locks were just barely 58-59, I was levelling them up in ramps. Between the last two bosses on the platform where there are about 18-20 mobs I had goofed a few times. Amazingly enough I didnt run backwards one step, I kept all my pets alive and when the dust had settled, I was left with a platform with all mobs dead.
It took a few moments to process this as I was almost sure I would be dead. I have tried voidwalkers with affliction before and for whatever reason, they just dont hold aggro so well even when specced properly. The felguards never lose aggro to my experience, which makes it a great way to go for multiple groups. I plan on adding multiple seeds to the equation when they all hit 70. Add in the Glyph of Felguard and changing my current spec just a little and there wont be a 5 man instance I dont think the guys wont be able to do.
For giggles, I got all of them the Barov Peasant Caller and was thinking about getting them all the cannon trinket from Strath to confuse large groups of the opposing faction. Sort of crazy seeing what looks like 2 warlocks on horses transfer into 25 in about 1 second =)
