Anyone excited? SW:TOR ('http://www.swtor.com/')

I'll reserve judgment until more information surfaces, but I have been looking forward to this for some time now. If anyone can create a deep and engrossing storyline, it's BioWare. At least Sony doesn't have their grubby mitts on it. ;)

I am very excited. I played SWG for a really long time and hope this game turns out really good. I have already registered on the forums to see a ton of my old friends from SWG. Just goes to show that there needs to be a Star Wars MMO.

I am pretty excited to see this come out. But time will tell how good it is going to be.

If they can bring the great story telling aspects of Mass Effect and KOTOR 1/2 into the MMO realm that would be wonderful.

We'll see (in 2015 haha).

I've been wondering how long till I saw a bioware/lucas SW mmo. I hope they can do it and that it's better then SWG... eh, that's not hoping, that's just plain assuming it'll be better. I think 90% of ganes on the SNES are better then SWG.

deep and engrossing storyline

I am not too much of a storyline person. Well let me re-phrase that, i like story lines if it talks to me and i don't have to read it. Well we all know the 2 kinds of people math and english. Well my math is great, but with that my english is really really really hurt (when i was in 5th grade my english was at a 2nd grade, but my math was high school). Having this problem my reading skills really suck (i read about 1 page in about 5-10 minutes), so having a great story line that i will have to read will probably make me not want to play this game even though i want to. This is one of the biggest reasons i love wow, you really don't have to read the quests to know what to do. I know if i read the quests i can get the lore and stuff, but i just really want to kill stuff. From what i am reading it seems like it is going to be very story based. When i come home from work (the could hours before the wife comes home) just want to log in and kill stuff and when she goes to bed and i have a couple more hours, i just want to kill stuff. If i really want to read text after text i would just read a book, or if i really want to make choices i would read one of those books that say to to page 100 to continue.

But this is a game that i would probably try, hopefully you can box on it.

oh by the way if anyone is in elementry or Jr high do not do a book report on a book that skips around. I did this once and got in huge trouble. It was a mystry story where you can choice what to do. The first page was talking about how much trouble you where going to be in cause you got an F on your test when a friend comes up to you and tells you about a "haunted" house. It then gives you a choice, go home and deal with the punishment or go out with your friend. Well i picked the go home, which brought me to the last page and said, you go home and your parents ground you from a week. So in my report i was the book was about me getting an F on a test and going home and getting grounded for a week.

I'm looking forward to this. I played SWG for a while and loved it....then Sony released the NGE and killed it....killed it dead. There's so much stuff from SWG I'd love to see in WoW...player towns, the felxibility of class combos...etc....but meh.

Anywhoo....bring it on :)

They spotlighted it in the last PC Gamer that I saw. Apparently they want to add "choice and consequence" to the MMO scene. That sounds cool to me. They want quests/missions to have morally gray areas, so that you'll think twice about your decisions.

From the brief article it sounds like you'll have a light/dark side "meter" as you level, similar to KOTOR. I would assume you can change back and forth kind of like Aldor/Scryer rep. I can't tell for sure though.

You don't like storylines but your telling a huge one :) *just fits* jk

I'm pretty excited, I like bioware (loved Mass Effect XBox 360) I'm also excited about Dragon age origins, but that's another story.

What I don't like is the way star wars was milked in the Past days, like it's a cow. Money Cow. I loved star wars as a kid ... omg ... I made me a coat and acted like be kenobi, I'm like a trekkie (nothing against them :) ) but referred to star wars.

Liked the KotoR games very much, they were not the same and with a new story (in the second it was kinda boring, but the first was kinda cool and this good and evil thing.) Hope they don't do crap and it's getting too hyped before tested. But I think they will do it, and I end up 5 Boxing it with 5 PC's with Quadcores and SLIs ^^.

I guess I'm really excited^^

btw: I like story telling^^

Man I miss SWG.
Best MMO ever made, untill SOE jacked it all up.
I loved making my own city for just leveling Jedis (when permadeath was still around)
The economy was the best part of that game, by far. Everything was player made, epics were actaully Epic. Legendarys were OMG.

Now I'm all nostalgic :)

Someone explain to this idiot how this is different than the first Star Wars MMO (SWG) released years ago? I know it's a different company creating the game (BioWare rules) so is this just a do-over?

I never played SWG but I heard it sucked so I'm assuming George Lucas has some influence :)

Lets not get crazy now. UO is the greatest and best MMO in the world. Tribute. (just kidding about the Tenacious D reference, not kidding about UO).

Its based in a completely different time period I think.

SWG = post episode VI

KOTOR = pre episode I

Other than that, it'll be exactly like every other star wars game. It takes place about a couple thousand years before Episode I, and about 300 years after the KOTOR games, so basically its a full-blown war between the Sith and Jedi/republic!!

I hope they make the worlds look as good as they are in Kotor, then it would be... awesome!

Wow Wait, Warhammer online is a really nice game. But nothing for my taste atm. Can't box it for now, but I guess I'll start 3 Boxing or something in a few month. Still have my CE :)
