View Full Version : How do YOU spin your group to take on people/npc's that manage to get behind your group?

I am presently having fits trying to figure out a way that actually works quickly to solve this issue. If an enemy player gets behind my shaman team...it's lights out for me. I can sort of handle NPC's, but I'd like to hear from the community on how YOU personally handle these types of situations.
thanks

Arrow keys :)
Currently there is no macro that will physcially turn your character around. You can turn your camera around, but thats it (you're still facing foward)

It would seem useful to even a player that's not mboxing that blizz implement a way to target what's actually beating on you and better yet if you were grouped the mob that was attacking....sigh

they did.
Deselect your target.
Next hit will auto-target your attacker.

The answer is staggered thunderstorms (do not waste them by blowing more then 1 at a time)
If your thunderstorms are all on cooldown just spread out into a box pattern, then you do one of 2 things:
1.) if they are on your lead guy tap follow so they all auto face you, tap a broadcasted packpeddle to stop them and nuke away,
2.) if they are on an alt just face the alt with your main, tap follow, tap broadcasted back peddle, and nuke (usually you can only pull of a shock as your alt getting beat on will return to you as well, unless he is stunned)
thats what i do anyway, works for me
When we get nova totem stuns back, you can stagger drop these while your spreading out to make things easier. You can use a warstomp here as well, though the totems will work alot better

I just mouse-turn with my main and run through my group slightly in the right direction. Works most of the time for me. Have arrows as backup.

This lets me spin and fight guys that are behind me.If theses more then 1 you can hold spin and hit your spell rotation key that takes care of the guys that run around you. Frostshock and a snare totem help slow them down.

turn keys are slow, just have alts follow main and make your main "spin" them the right way. Your main won't be doing any damage (other than instants) but at least 4 guys are able to cast vs one.

In KeyClone I mapped 2 side mouse buttons to the left and right keyboard arrows.
Therefore, i can keep my left/right hands in their appropriate spots, and use my mouse to turn my toons. This also saves a keyboard remapping in WoW if your concerned about that.

I thunderstorm and drop earthbind totem then move to the screen of the one being beat on and hit my follow - everyone turns to the new leader and I blast them before they can get back to me or chase them down. As suprafro said, you want to set your keys up so you are only casting one Thunderstorm and another toon is dropping one earthbind - not all 4 at once.
I'm 64 now and every now and again a 70 rogue manages to pull me apart over 5 or 10 minutes but I do not fall victim to 64 or 65 rogues (maybe one toon before I kill them). Nothing else my level gives me any trouble.

I changed the kkeybindings on the page up/page down keys on my slaves to be turn left/right and unbound those keys on my main. Im a keyboard turner anyways, and this puts those keys close to my mains arrow keys. I also changed the delete key on my slaves to move backward. I find that i use that much more often and it seems to respond much faster than the turn left turn right keys. I just hold that key down for 2 seconds and my slaves are all facing whoever was behind them and I am back in the business of killing stuff.

I have /follow on my main /cast macro:
/target leader
/follow
/assist
/cast
Its a real art to see in 3rd person who is hitting you where and then bringing your guys to face the mob, something you don't learn from quests. Although at higher levels I am sure thunderstorm gonna help a lot for that.
You don't waste time turning the main you back up or angle back. Lets say main is at 12 o'clock and group at 6 and mob at 7 you want to back up the main through like the 8 oclock point. Accuratly determining where to move to, forward or back, takes some skill and practice; This is the only real skill Iv seen needed up to level 20.
In the above example should you back to 8 or back to 7 (or even 9) for minimizing the amount of time before you can cast with your crew.

Thunderstorm, keyboard turn all chars, chainlightning+shocks. If they live through that, drop 4 nova totems times to go off when they reach you while chasting chain heals.
Hardware multicasting mouse and 1 machine per WoW. Click the one mouse and spin around on all 4 near instantly. Keyboard turns *can* work but not against PvPers with half a brain. This is also very useful for targeted AoE casting. I believe there are some software solutions out now that do this as well.
