I am going to replace one of my DPS shamen with a Balance Druid that is also lv 70. Since my shamen really only use 2-3 keys for most trash mobs and Bosses (Lightning bolt, Chain lightning and Flame shock), I was wondering:

what is the highest DPS rotation for Balance Druids?

What is the highest DPS rotation for Elem Shamen?

Can those rotations be put into a macro with a reset so that I can do most trash, questing and mobs with just 1 key?

Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, repeat

Moonfire, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire, Wrath, repeat

All that is relative and depends on your stats ofc.
Made mine into a /castsequence macro to make it easier. 1 button raiding ftw. >.>

Depends on your talents really.

For shaman (with CL talent): LB, CL, LB - rinse repeat

For druids on bosses (on trash just go wrath, starfire rinse repeat): starfire, insect swarm, moonfire, starfire, wrath, starfire, wrath

You may want to check: WotLK castsequences for shaman/druid (theorycrafting/long) ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=128996&highlight=#post128996')

if trash is dying really fast i wouldn't worry about much other than just spamming wrath, but its very mana-hog'ish

i use this for my 3 castsequence macros on my boomkin for pve

/castsequence reset=target/combat/14 Starfire, Insect Swarm, Moonfire, Wrath, Wrath, Wrath, Starfire, Starfire
/castsequence reset=target/combat/14 Moonfire, Insect Swarm, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire
/castsequence reset=target/combat/14 Wrath, Insect Swarm, Moonfire, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire, Wrath, Wrath

the top and bottom ones u switch back and forth based on proc's. Crits with Starfire increase damage done on target by wrath, and vise-versa. so when u crit, use the other macro.
talent improving Insect swarm, makes all damage taken by spells increase (arcane nature, etc etc) so its good to put inthe rotation for your other chars to get more dps too.
Moonfire i have in there just for more dots, but its also not very mana efficient so remove it if mobs are dying fast and just stick with starfire/insect swarm as much as possible. with some haste your starfires should be close to 2.5 sec and very mana efficient.

put the Moonfire macro on your shock hotkey so when u use flame shock/frost shock etc you'll also nuke with instant abilities from the druid, i also use it on same key as my Fire Blast on my mages.

Why not simply alternate wrath and starfire all the time and not worry about crits? Ie starfire, insect swarm, moonfire, wrath, starfire, wrath, starfire ?

/castsequence reset=target/combat/14 Starfire, Insect Swarm, Moonfire, Wrath, Wrath, Wrath, Starfire, Starfire
/castsequence reset=target/combat/14 Moonfire, Insect Swarm, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire, Moonfire
/castsequence reset=target/combat/14 Wrath, Insect Swarm, Moonfire, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire, Wrath, Wrath

Since my Pally will be leading the party, How would you modify that to target the party leader's target?

just insert [target=party1target] between castsequence and reset.
But, spamming moonfire has always been, and will always be, bad.

i like opening with longer cast spells and then nuking toward the end of their life rather than wasting 2-3 seconds on a cast that lands right as they die, so i prefer starfire opener, then wrath finisher.

spamming moonfire is useless in PVE yes, but when your trying to chase down a person in pvp and they're close to death i spam my "5" button a lot trying to get my mages icelance/fireblast and shamans shocks, and moonfire to finsh them off before they get a heal.

and i just use:
/assist party1
/castsequence yadda yadda on all my macros for pve, i put a name instead of party1 for pvp (aka /assist dustinpalmer)
