But you'll still claim you have the most right?
chillax Fur :)
hehe I said chill and we're talking about heatsinks.
Firstly this could prolly go in the hardware section.
Secondly thats an Awesome looking heatsink! :D

I don't have any yet, but who knows what claims I might bring in the future ....
Maybe 6 not sure though.I know some people who know some people who know some people and I already have 10 of them.

not to burst that bubble, but Thermalright Ultra 120 ('http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835109125') is still king. Currently what I use in all my systems. Thermaltake does make decent coolers though.
Edit: if anything, look at the Zerotherm coolers as well, great reviews.
Edit of Edit: Actually Sam, if you wanted to do something really impressive, do what a friend of mine does. Watercooled his 6 computers  , he looped them altogether, & with the right pump it actually runs great. Though his pump cost like $400.00 which most are $60.00-150.00
Actually, the lrod of all cooling atm would be phase change imo.

But damn is it expensive, and it's really REALLY annoying to work with/on. I had the dubious pleasure of messing with one of these units, friend bought everything and wanted the fastest PC he could get. He insisted on having one of these things ... the whole smothering your motherboard in silicon so it doesn't get destroyed kinda turns me off.
Anyhow, I personally like the Thermaltake's Orb series. I use Ruby Orbs in all of my machines. They're big (big enough you have to put them in AFTER sliding the mobo tray in a Lian Li case) but they're incredibly quiet and still keep my Q6600s nice and chilly even under constant use.

Somehow since he does own a construction company, he could get some parts from local stores maybe even a discount, I second the phase change. Just don't deep freeze that mobo ;)

Of the air-cooled solutions, the Ultra 120 is still a better heatsink thermally. See those big, long-ass heatpipe runs? All that wasted pipe length is actually utilized by the Ultra 120. I can't tell you the specifics regarding the thermodynamics of the pipe length but suffice it to say that bigger/more fins closer to the "block" is much more efficient than longer pipe runs. If anyone's really, REALLY interested, I can probably ping one of my old cohorts and get him to write me up something that explains it.

Sorry, air cooling is just so last season. I'm looking into this sort of a solution in future gaming PCs

If that thing is over $3K I wait til the new Intel chips come out. Nonetheless, I was loving the pictures & the idea.

14cm is a very large, and quite fan.
Sure 800-3000 solutions will be superior.
This will be well under $100 for sure.
That one without a fan might be a winner though, Ill wait for a comparison between the two.

This heatsink is nice as it also doubles as a bolt in upgrade for your air cooled Porche or VW

I fully believe this is the best heatsink out there.
It's huge and not only that it comes with 2 fans that blow cool air through the fins. You just have to clean it out every once and awhile or that cool air becomes hot air which is the case in any computer case.

Sorry man but anything that blows air directly onto the cpu is BAD imo. If you don't maintain your box then it is blowing hot are directly onto the cpu. Air going across is better then air blow directly down.

I was drooling all over that when I first saw it 2 weeks ago. I really think that this is the way gamers are heading.

I have the same box as in the picture and the side has like a ton of holes. Cool air from outside the box in blown onto the cpu and you get some cooling for the northbridge, ram and gpu with the air blowing onto the cpu like that.
Two small fans are way to much noise.

Still not true.
the king is the IFX-14. Which me and jen both have. It scored the absolute best on cooling (Even compared to water cooling) on tom's hardware.

probaby could. But we strap on 2 14cm fans to taht bad boy.
Blue led's on em to make it look spiffy :)
Let's just say overclocking the QX9650, heat isn't an issue ;)

hmmm....
i dont have a cpu fan except for the stock one that came with my pentium. does buying an aftermarket product make much of a difference? i know yes it will be cooler but does it really make that much of a difference that i should spend $40-50 on one?

my system is actually pretty quiet. i have plenty of fans going, two pointing out, two pointing in, a vga card fan from zalman (i figured the videocard gets more stressed from gaming than the processor), and the stock fan/heatsink for my pentium. the only time my system ever overheated was when the fans got so cloged up from dust that one of the fans stopped working. the system turned itself off to avoid damage. put half a can of dust-off to my rig and it purrs. now i regularly dust my computer, once every two or three months or so, or when my game gives me low FPS while in low demand areas (anything old world, nagrand, blades edge. zangramarsh happens to tax my videocard the most). in any case, i dont plan on overclocking my processor. so it appears i will not have to get a fan. however, does getting a fan/heatsink keep the processor running at a lower temp? improving performance and prolonging the life of the processor? just thought those may be benefits. with all this talk of fans and heatsinks, im trying to come up with some rationalization to buy one. lol

cooler tempratures will extend cpu life, but you will no doubt upgrade the cpu way before running even hot will make a difference. Best to be cool so you dont get to hot and destroy the processor or start having random errors you can't figure out where they are from. I never overclock but I do like silence.
Running cooler does not improve performance (below the normal non burning it out) per se its just lots of people overclock for some reason and if you over cool you can over clock.

I watercool. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?!?
Oh, and Thermaltake usually sucks. ThermalRIGHT is the one that usually makes nice heatsinks. Thermaltake is a bunch of cheap knockoffs (cheap quality - and usually overpriced not low-cost) for the most part. A few exceptions.

I use thermaltake for case, power supply, case and cpu fans and could not be happier. Being able to move hard drives from computer to computer in seconds is a big plus for me, with the drives facing the side of the case instead of the back. I dont see anything "cheap" about their products, they are costly.
I havn't looked closely at thermalright products though being satisfied with the thermaltake.

Thermaltake is a bunch of cheap knockoffs (cheap quality - and usually overpriced not low-cost) for the most part. A few exceptions.I'm sorry but Thermaltake doesn't suck. I'm using a lapped Big Typhoon VX (YES AIR) and am overclocking my Q6600 to 3.4ghz and staying under 61c under 100% cpu full load for 8 hours of prime95. For those that are counting thats a 1ghz overclock with a Thermaltake product.
Edit: My main issue with cooling is getting cool air into the case and the hot air out. As soon as I solve that problem I'm going to actually push for 3.6 or higher. Enjoy your $150 water solutions.
Edit 2: Anyone have some good input on how to accomplish edit #1.
