View Full Version : Think I'll be able to run DM (for warlock mount quest) with 1x shadow priest 4x afflic lock?

So my current team is level 61, shadow priest + 4x affliction lock. Really good so far for questing, etc, but it comes time now to get my 4x dreadsteeds...
I'm going to start the quest chain tonight and hope to finish the entire thing tonight or tomorrow. I have a 64 prot pally I could sub in for my locks but to be honest I'd rather just run DM with the 4 locks and shadow priest (and 4 voids). Anyone think this would be possible? I have like 5 pieces of outland gear so far, maybe 6 or 7 by the time I go. None of my locks have any points in demo (so no improved voidwalker or whatever).
Don't want to waste my time going through everything only to find out I'll never finish it. Advice wanted, thanks!

use your pally. you will need to go to DM east first to chase down the IMP for the DM west key.
in DM west, you will need to deactivate all five pillars that keep the center chamber locked. also, you will have to face one tree boss and a demon bulldog looking like thing, which is the final boss in the instance. make sure you kill him off of the platform since you will like to have the center platform clear for the summoning.
defeat the summoned demon and the dreadsteed.
boot the pally from your party and invite your fourth lock.
as long as the defeated dreadsteed is still spawned, he'll be there for a while, any lock who's at that stage of the chainquest can talk to it and learn the summon dreadsteed spell.
oh and one thing about the fight... drop all your demons and just enslave the felguards that spawn. they will he super helpful, and it takes away 3 or 4 mobs you have to kill.

Actually, it would have been fine but for the damn owlbeast blood part. http://www.l00py.net/phpbb/images/smiles/arg.gif

The problem with waiting is that it will make my mount cost significantly more expensive...
Right now by doing the quest I only have to pay the 250g for the "re-use" mats once, the other 3 times I only have to pay 150-200g for the other mats. So I'm getting 4 mounts for something like 1000g, if I wait till the patch I now have to pay somethingl ike 2800g for the same mounts :(

I can't speak from experience but I've heard that a certain collection part on the lock quest is a pain in the ass, 2800G is nothing with an enchanter and knowing how to play the AH properly

Invite some friends, complete the event and summon your locks in afterwards. They should be able to complete the quest that way. At least... thats how I did it.
And yeah, the owlbeast part is a pain in the ass.

Hm, so is 3.0.3 officially coming out next tuesday and will it officially add this change in? If so I might just run some SSO dailies with my 5 shamans and get the extra money to buy the mounts - I don't really want to have to deal with spending hours and hours farming anything.
Ok so enlighten me on the AH + enchanter to make tons of money? One of my shamans is a 375 enchanter (no special recipes though) - help me make money! :D

That's lame, they should both have trainable and keep the quest as well, I enjoyed the quest for both my pally and my locks they where a lot of fun, except for the blood part as Siker mentioned.

I had already completed the quest chain up to the point of going into DM west and downing the boss, so to me it a no-brainer to go ahead and do it.
I completed it last night with 4 warlocks and a priest. One of my locks was level 63 (leveled to 64 in the instance), and all of them are specced demonology, so it's not going to be exactly the same experience as you would have. Still, it's doable!
I posted my experience here:

yea with demo locks its a bit easier because you have demons to tank most of the instance.
do it this weekend. its not hard to do most of the prequesting. you just need to buy a lot of mats off the AH and complete a few quests. oh and you must have everyone complete quests up past Scholo, the one where you use the Imp-in-a-Jar to write up some glyphs for you at the Alchemy lab inside Scholo. after scholo, only one of your warlocks need to buy mats for the summoning.

Yeah the more I look at the quest chain the more I realize even saving the money isn't worth it, time wise, as I could make twice as much money just doing dailies if I spent taht much time doing SSO dailies on my shamans.
Also I already did the dreadsteed quest on my single box warlock like a year before BC came out so I have no desire to do it again just to "see it done".
