View Full Version : Ditching Lightning Overload, I think

Um... this is a tough one. Basically I don't feel that Lightning Overload is worth its points anymore. A lot of my dps these days comes from TS, Novas, Shocks.. sure I use CL and LB a lot too, but in the case of LB Lightning Overload proc, it's almost always useless because the target is already dead (BGs).
I just feel that 5 points can be spent in a better way. LO feels lackluster.. it provides a small damage boost for ONE of our offensive spells, in practice.
What you think?

So it's settled.
Went for something like this:

I kept LO - I use Chain Lightning more than any other spell in BGs, ESPECIALLY now that it has a reduced cooldown. Since LO affects CL, AND the proc is instant (unlike LB which has a travel time), it REALLY benefits this spell, and 5x CLs almost never kill my targets, usually takes a tiny bit extra, so that usually finishes them off.

to elaborate more, your changing your playstyle on players that have 10k hp, in xpac your looking at 20k-30k easy, so the current kill method won't cut it. although you'll have more points to spend.

My biggest concern at the moment is staying alive against the new burst classes.. too bad there are no real survival talents that can be allocated instead of LO.

I've gone with:
70 ToW Toon - http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?shaman=053300152321015132531051000000000000000000 000000000052020000000000000000000000

Personally, I cannot imagine not having LO. It's not as big, when Lighting/Chain Lighting aren't 90% of our spells anymore, but its still substantial.
If anyone has suggestions for my builds, I'd appreciate critique.
I'll be leveling five shammies, all five (elemental) will BG - but one will be my PvE raid toon and step out in arena for a healer friend.

With 5/5 specced into LO you have a 80% chance to proce on each wave of lightening. So mostlikely 1 of the shammys will proc it on each or each second wave cast. Damn i love that talent..Its the whole thing about elemental shammys!

Magwo, you now took mana regen talents?? I haven't played arena yet, but for BG (and for arena to?) 5 mana stream totems and watershields regen quite some mana?

Well yes, but I have poison cleansing in my rotation.. suppose I could have mana streams.. but hmm.. unrelenting storm gives a very good endurance in long battles.
