So, after spending almost 2 days reconfiguring macros and mods I ran my first instance in patch 3.0. It was not on my multiboxer group as I would have expected, but instead he was on my priest (my old main). Before I get carried away any further in my ramblings I need to give a little background information. Pre-patch my plus healing was sitting at 2300~ post patch my plus healing (well, it is now called spell power) is now sitting at 1100~. When I first saw this my thought was OMFGWTFBBQ I am broken.
I signed up for a heroic ramparts run; when I was invited to the group they were almost up to the first boss. Apparently the previous healer dropped out citing tank issues. The issue with the tank - we did not have one. The group consisted of: balance Druid, retribution Pally, Mage & Warlock. Needless to say my first reaction was to drop the group immediately and call them idiots on the way out. They begged me to stay and we attempted the last trash pull before the boss, the ret Pally did not have a shield so he could not tank - full stop. So the balance Druid when bear form and tanked - successfully, surprisingly so.
I elected to stay, mostly for the amusement of it, and they proceeded to pull the first boss. Unfortunately they ended up pulling the boss and another pack of 3. Expecting us to wipe I did not hold any success of pulling this off but continued to see how long that was before we actually wiped. To my absolute surprise we successfully took out the boss and the mobs without a single death. Keep in mind, this is the first instance I have run since the patch was released, and it is the first time I have played my priest in about 6 -8 weeks.
Less than 45 minutes later we were downing the last boss. The only deaths we had were experienced by the mage when he attempted to tank a couple of mobs - it did not go so well.
If you have made it this far through my ramblings congratulations. The point of this post (yes ... I think there is one) is OMFGWTFBBQ priests have been buffed to a point I believe they are considerably over powered. At no point during the run did my mana drop below 40% nor did I ever feel the situation was going to get out of hand, with the exception of the first boss pull. As a holy priest I expect to be able to heal effectively but this was just too easy.
And this brings me to my next question, have heroics been nurfed? This run was just far too easy relative to what I have experienced before. Keep in mind, our tank was a balance spec Druid in bear form. With the proper tank I wonder how much quicker the run would have been.
