I am currently using a brand new computer that I recieved, it's an alienware with Windows Vista on it. Obviously I assume it has updated drivers and everything, it has a fairly decent spec.

But since I recieved it and have been playing WoW in windowed mode it freezes. In full screen (max resolution) it does not.

Obviously when I am dual-boxing I don't use full screen, but this occasionally causes 1 of the boxes to freeze (not the whole computer) which creates problems, and then it doesn't allow me to end the task. Does anyone know a logical explination for the freezing? (I'm pretty sure it's not the graphics drivers or overheating... and my other comp. with vista doesn't freeze)

P.S. When I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del it freezes my whole computer at all times.

Thanks guys!

Obviously I assume it has updated drivers and everything

When you assume... you make an ass out of U. (I can make an ass of myself just fine without your help TYVM)

Step 1 update all your drivers. I know your comp is new, but a new update could come out the day your comp was assembled.

Step 2 Possible bad Vista install :pinch:

Step 3 Bad RAM stick test?

Step 4 Bad motherboard test?

Step 5 Bad grapics card test?

Step 6 Bad processer test?

Step 7 Return the whole damn show and get a replacement.

Even with a manufacturing rate of 1 bad part/million, there are a lot of little parts in your comp. I just put this list in order of my personal experience with what goes wrong most often.

I have Vista on my new laptop as well. What I notice is that when in windowed mode it sometime takes a long time to minimize, maximize or change resolutions. I don't think its the hardware, my laptop is an XPS 1730 with nVidia 8800 SLI. It maybe that your system is not locking up, but taking a very long time change.
