I left a group of Shaman at level 40 in the inn for about 5 weeks, so I understand I should have the max 30 bubbles rest experience. After boosting them to 50 and doing the totem quests to 52 I noticed they now had only about 14 bubbles of rest xp. Of course they've been in RAF the whole time. I was under the impression rest xp went by bubbles rather than actual experience, is that incorrect?

1.5 levels.. but I haven't used any of it, so I'm trying to figure out where it went

I thought it was 1.5 levels.

"Bubbles" have no meaning TMK other than something players came up with based on the skinning of the increments in the default UI, which are only there to make it easier to see your progress. It's for psychological effect so you feel like you're accomplishing something, while an undelimited bar would be less distinct.

Did you do anything while you weren't grouped or while the level delta was too great? That would eat rest instead.

Nope, just boosting with an unlinked 70, and the totem quests. Oddly enough the totem quests were giving 10-25k xp per step, is that normal at level 50?

You can also check your current rested xp by /script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Current Rested XP: " .. GetXPExhaustion());

The answer is simple:

As someone has stated bubbles are just a visual indicator. I will elaberate further:

Rested EXP is is an amount of exp marked for "double".

If at level 5 you need 5000 exp to level, and you have 2500 exp rested, then leveling to 6 (lets say you turn in a quest right at the end of level 5) would mean you would now need 6000 exp to level. You still retain the same 2500 exp rested, but the "bubbles" shrink because there is now more total exp in your new level.

Sorry if thats not clear.

Edit: For a personal example I didnt notice this until I was about level 40 on my team. I had 1.25 levels of rested exp, I then went to level 44 very quickly based purely on quests, magically I only had .75 levels of rested exp.

Rested exp is a number, not a visual indicator.

I use an addon - Rested - it shows u how much time till u are back fully rested.
With the fast leveling today it lost its importance a bit. But it's still nice to do some theorycrafting after all.
