For those of us who have beeh 5 boxing with 4 shamen and a Pally tank, are you planning on keeping the 4 shammy or do u think it needs to be mixed up now and a Boomkin thrown in? I know the patch just came out, but it seems like this was a big nerf for shamen. From what I have read, having a lock or a druid is now needed in a 5m team.

It is not the Omkin aura that makes the team better, Its the balance talent "Earth and Moon". EaM adds 13% damage debuff to targets when you spam your wrath or starfire spells. Aside from EaAs HUGE benefit to a team of shaman, there are a few other reasons adding a boomkin might look attractive. The Omkin itself does insane dps when combined with your totems and their debuffs ( and pretty damn good solo ). They bring MotW buff, thorns for your tank, Faerie Fire debuff. They now have a normal rez and still have their in combat rez... innervate, and so on... It might very well be that we will not "need" a druid in our groups to be 'effective" But from sound of it, Tank+balance Druid+3 Shaman= TEH WIN!
I forgot to add that they can now CC indoors now 8)

I think he is probably refering to the balance talent 'Earth and Moon' which increases spell damage taken by 13% on the mob. Also 3% extra hit from improved faerie fire. I run the 4 shammy 1 pala configuration myself and I will definately be experimenting with a balance druid in the mix at 70. Luckily I already have a 70 druid waiting for the rest to catch up (They are at 58 ). It will be handy having the 5% crit aura be up all the time, also it saves a couple of points in the elemental tree (Not that u can get much with them). Lastly it will be good to make use of druid items that drop.
Im not sure if I can maximise the druids dps at the same time as playing the shamans but thats the reason I need to test. Luckily I am a button masher anyway so I shouldnt miss spellcasts too often :)

Yeh it wasnt there when I started writing the message but I played with talent calculator while I was writing to see if there where any major benefits to skipping elemental oath in the elemental tree. I should l2preview I guess :)
Would be it be wise to use a Balance druid? Im hearing that its good and then bad, i know im loosing some good things with a shaman, but is it really worth it to drop a shaman for a balance druid in the long run?
I ask becuase i have a 70 druid on my main account thats not being used and i was pondering respecing him balance and moving him over to one of my slave accounts.

There are advantages and disadvantages. Do it if you want to, Earth and Moon is probably enough by itself to justify the trouble, and it brings other toys too (roots, for a big one in a shaman party).
or the way more interesting battle ress :)

I added a Druid into my mix and am happier for it. Granted I am only at level 65 with my 5 box. To add to what the folks above are saying Gift of the Wild and even the ability to stealth to scout ahead is handy. If your pally drops you can always back up tank.
