View Full Version : Wow... PSTs for Me !

So I have been multiboxing for just about 4 days.

I generally play at around Midnight to about 3:00 AM server time, so there's a lot less people.

First day, at Elwynn Forest with 5 humans (testing them out). 3 other people followed me and mostly just /lol, saw me kill a couple of things while figuring things out. 1 PST me asking me how I'm doing this, and I just tell him multiple keyboards and mouse.

2nd Day at Goldshire, I find 5 other toons there... with similiar names... WOW, another 5-boxer trying it out. :D Talked very briefly because I guess we were still settings things up.

3rd Day, finally started at Dranei. A person followed me a little, asked me how I do it. Told me that people will probably report me. I said yeah, but it's legit because I'm controlling all of them. He thought it was funny, gave him dual-boxing.com wish me well and moved on.

4rd Day (yesterday). 1 PST asking me if I'm 4-boxing. I said 5-boxing. :) He lol, asking me how I handle the finances, I just told him $160 for the 4 additional accounts (because of the battlechest special), and $75 a month for the sub. He /lol and left.

It's just amazing to me, because of all the times that I've played (solo), with so few people playing so late, I barely having any conversations.

Now, people are psting me (understandably).

I know that most of the veterans here already had their share of this while leveling (some good, some bad)... it's just funny and I felt like sharing my first experience with the general population while 5-boxing.

I'm guessing that as I level up, I'll start getting tickets and complaints.

4rd Day (yesterday)

:D :D

Sounds like fun! I'm already level 12 and haven't gotten any tells yet, although 3-boxing isn't quite as impressive looking as 5-boxing I suppose.

Am I confused about what PST stands for? Pretty sure PST stands for Please Send Tell as in "Looking for a priest Please Send Tell". I could be wrong, but I think thats right.

Not intending this as a flame AT ALL, just wondering if I've fallen behind the times.

People use PST now generally to mean "a message". In this case "messages".

I usually hear: "Please send PST" (which doesn't really make any sense ;))

I can't help it. I read acronyms in my head by their intended words ;) When I see someone say, "PST me for invite!" -- I hear, "Please send tell me for invite!"

Really though this is what happens with acronyms that catch on. Have you ever seen someone type "I LOL'd"? LOL stands for "Laughing out Loud" or (depending on which internet definition you are reading) "Lots of Laughs".... So LOL'd would read "Laughing out Louded"?

I too read PST as both Please Send Tell and/or Psssst (Like "Pssst... hey, want to buy some gold?")

PST originally meant "Please Send Text", but a lot of people butcher the meaning because they simply never knew where it came from. It has come to mean a "whisper" to a lot of people, but for people that have done MMO's for a long time, it still means Please Send Text.

As for "I LOL'd"... it's the same thing. Yes, LOL means "Laughing Out Loud", but it has a broader meaning of simply "laughing". So, "I LOL'd" is usually saying "I Laughed Out Loud".

Internet slang... never has any rules :)

Oh damn... even the realm forums!?! I haven't thought about that... that's when you're VERY well-known. :D

Hopefully my late night playing will go under the radar a little bit. :)

I've been triple boxing up some Locks. Up to level 34 now. I don't get as many tells as you seem to have, but I usually get at least one everytime I play.

I have yet to have anyone notice me on the Realm forums, but I have had at least one person shouting in Orgrimmar "/y Omg, everyone /who ryan!" (My characters are named Ryanone, Ryantwo and Ryanthree.)

This is only the beginning, you will get heaps of responses trust me. :D

Only peice of advice I can offer is dont waste too much time defending yourself or what you do, if ppl tell you they are reporting you or try and irritate you just ignore it, what you are doing is totally legit.

QFT. The forum and in-game spam is rediculous.

Getting a lot of whispers myself, but yet to be topic of any forums even though I have boxed 5x lvl 70's and working on my lvl40+ team.

However I think if you're pvping a lot you would piss a lot more people off than when you're pve'ing like I usually have done.

I guess I will confirm this theory when my new team hits 70, since their going to be mostly pvp'ing ;)

I direct people to this site when they ask how I do it. So far I haven't had any negative confrontations about it. Some people asked if I was afraid I'll get banned. I tell them 'nah', then spread my characters, reapply lightening shield, and off I go. We just have to raise the awareness that there is a difference between boxing and boting.

I seem to be getting a lot notice more recently but then 3x Ghost wolves are fairly obvious even though semi-transparent!

I also don't do myself many favours by dancing in sync in the towns ;)

I dual boxed for over a year and no one ever noticed. I started 5 boxing on Saturday, and I've already directed 3 people here. So far, all I've heard has been positive - though one guy asked if I was going to sell my accounts. Heh, like I would put this much work into something just to let someone else take it away from me?

Yeah I got the are you gonna sell em? line a few times. I get the "oh they must be friends on TS/Vent/Phone"

yesterday someone asked me if i was a pimp and if he could book one of my 4 ladies out for a date.

every now and then i go afk and come back to my PC to find 15 people crowded around me going OMG DO SOMETHING COOL, OMG CAST BUBBLE ALL AT SAME TIME, OMG DANCE FOR US.

Feel like circus sometimes, showing off can be fun but also gets irritating if your looking for something in patiuclar in a town.

Haha... you should have said sure. And then put one of them on follow on him.

PST for me comes from the good ole game Star Wars Galaxies.

In that game, it was /tell *playername* to send "whispers"

So PST meant, Please Send Tell

I miss that game

I also miss my left pinkie

And my purple tennis shoe

But most of all I miss SWG

(kidding about the left pinkie, its the right pinkie)

/tell is from WoW too ya know ;). In fact I'm pretty sure the 'tell' command has been in use since the early days of BBS gaming.

Or you could have said "No, but I now pronounce you man and wife." Put her on follow and then just followed him around with that toon nagging him to take out the trash. Just put that in a macro infact:

"Take out the trash!"

"Take out the trash!"

"Take out the trash!"

"Take out the trash!"

"Take out the trash!"

Oh another thing heaps of people do is try and duel my main and want to fight all 5 of me at once.

This probably happens at least once or twice a day, so much that I have a mod to decline all duels.

Yeah I was thinking of doing the skit thing too... I was going to do some argument ones. :P

I had a nice conversation with a guy some days ago running into BRD I think. Should have screenshot it.

Random: Fucking chinese keke farmer!
Random: Reported
Me: I probably get reported 10 times a day. Do you really think I care.

Periode of Silence.

Random: Invite for BRD then.
Me: Sorry, full team.
Random: Fuck you then

I've rerolled Horde recently on a "Oceanic" server, Barthilas. Made a guild, setup a website/forums, ts etc etc. Had just reached Ghostlands when one of my mates on TS says:

"WTF Slats, I'm pretty sure I just ran past some guy doing the same shit as you..."

He gives me the guys name and we start messaging either other goes something like this:

Me: "multiboxing?"
Him: "Yep 5 you?"
Me: "5 as well!!"

etc etc and after a lot of talking he helps me out with some bags and stuff because his main is a tailor. Was so cool to meet someone else that boxes like me who was Australian as well. =)

Once we both get to 70 I think we will try Kara as his team is Prot Pally, 3x Mage, 1x Priest and mine is 1x Prot Pally and 4x Shadow Priests.

I have started two alliance teams prior to this horde one, and I was aoeing them up using a 70 mage and I have to say while its slower playing the 5 characters as a team is SO much more enjoyable than the aoe them up fast aspect. I could hardly bring myself to login doing it with AoE. My concepts have gone from "this will be awesome at 70" to "I'm having awesome fun RIGHT now!" which is great.
