Could you guys post numbers on how your teams are performing over all after this patch?? I am getting nearly a 20% net loss in my dps. Is the sky really falling, or do just have it all wrong, and am just not spec'ing or using my abilities correctly.
I really would like some reliable info on this from the pros.

From what I have experienced in the beta and from posts made by the developers, shaman are going to be down in dps from normal until they hit 75 and get lava burst. Lava burst is supposed to bring up shaman dps to match all the other classes at 80.

Not to mention LB coefficient was nerfed so to get back to where you were you will need a druid /warlock/dk in your group... but who wants to mess up the synergy of an all shaman group!?

To be honest...
I got back from Blizzcon on Tuesday, patched that evening. Got myself a cold on Wednesday, attempted to fix all of my addons and such. Played a bit with my hunters + core hounds. Raided enh on Thursday. Been messing with my prot paladin this morning.
I haven't really had a chance to look at my shamans, but I think I can make a solid guess that we'll be seeing Destro lock + shaman groups or Boomkin + shaman groups (or any combination thereof) becoming more mainstream. To be honest, I'm rather glad -- I've always been somewhat disappointed in the over-abundance of one particular comp (even if it was my own). That being said -- in my personal experience with my enhancement shaman, my DPS was only average on trash (I was barely keeping up with shadowpriests), but I could easily push 300-400 more dps on boss fights in my raiding enh gear. So I wouldn't be surprised if ele shaman dps "balanced out" in a fully raidbuffed situation.
Also, our elemental shaman in my raid on thursday was pulling MORE dps than me (as enh). Take that as you will. ;)

Ya but what fun is being dependent on other classes to do your work? I thought the point of spreading out the buffs was that you werent dependent on what classes you are using. It's sad that to get up to "par" of other classes we need to be with them, but alone we do subpar damage. =(

I caught a really bad cold at Blizzcon too. Started getting sick Tuesday and just getting over it now. Lots of people in closed quarters...easy for stuff to get around. Did you go to the ATI/AMD booth Vyndree?

I did -- was there someone especially germy hanging out at the ATI booth?
All of my coworkers got sick while I was on vacation, so I thought I had dodged a bullet. Started sneezing like mad when I got into work, but thought it was just my allergies... By the end of the day it was a full blown cold.
As for depending on other people -- that's the point. Stacking shaman meant that you were depending on other shaman, so it's always been that way. Now, you just have to cross-class more.
From what I was seeing in my raid, our elemental shaman was pulling around 2500+ dps in sunwell gear. In my enh gear I think I could only max at 2300. The rogues were doing 3k+. Don't build your ideas of "correct dps" based off of known broken balance such as retadin. Just because they plow through you doesn't mean they SHOULD. Furthermore, we're getting balanced around the level 80 skills, which we can't really get right NOW but may rebalance the fact that we're "sub-par" at 70.
If you don't like the current direction of the shaman class (which is what you should be looking at -- direction, since we're not yet level 80) then you should consider using this month pre-WotLK to find a better suited comp for your needs. If you're willing to stick with it and think that (at 80) shaman will even themselves out, stick with shaman. :) In the end, class composition should be based on your personal preference -- not what everyone else tells you is the perfect comp.
Or.... you could just be an altaholic like me and have one of almost everything ;)

Actually I was basing most of what I said on Elemental at 80, I read up a lot on the shaman class and the best place for that is Elitistjerks.com. Their WWS at 80 are reporting shaman just above tanks in dps.... not something I will let slide by without a little complaining. I'm not one to sit back and wait for the Devs to realize there's a problem way after the release of Lich King. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and all.

I know I've seen a blue post that mentioned "It's not you, it's them"... Basically that it's not that you're doing LOW dps, it's that they're doing HIGH dps.
In any case, I believe they're aware, so there is no need to be annoyingly squeaky. But if you feel that the balance is off at 80, dual-boxing forums can't exactly change that for ya. :/
Personally I go for the "don't sweat it, what happens will happen and I will be the squeaky wheel once I reach it"

Personally I go for the "don't sweat it, what happens will happen and I will be the squeaky wheel once I reach it" I was more wondering if my numbers were just off, or if this was just the new reality we will face until 80... the dps disparity I mean. If its just a question of we will be ok again when we get lavaburst, that is calming. My shamans are my oldest and favorate five box, and I did not want to have to shelf them. Oh well... time for a month of pew pew fun on my Boomkin, and Mage team. Who needs anti fear totems, when that poor fool who can fear you will just explode when they get in target range.

If you are a brand new lvl 70 shammy, your dps got buffed due to added spellpower from flametongue weapon...like me :P
