View Full Version : Strange issue - Keyclone?

I encountered an odd issue last night, that I've not had before. First, I'll give my system layout, to try and help explain things. I have 3 machines. 2 run single instances of WoW, and the 3rd runs 3 accounts usinig keyclone to pass keystrokes. All 3 machines have wireless keyboards that are broadcasting on the same channel. Now, last night, on the machine that runs Keyclone with 3 accounts, I was getting some odd behaviour with key presses.
Say for example I pressed "2" on my main keyboard, the single account boxes got "2", account 1 on the keyclone box would get "2", account 2 and 3 on the keyclone box would get "22". I thought, well, maybe batteries are low on the keyboards, so I swapped in new batteries, relogged into WoW, and got the same thing. I tried refreshing the synch on the keyboards, still the same thing. I've not changed any hardware/software, no new equipment laying around that might interfere with the wireless keyboard signals, so I'm stumped.
Any ideas?

that is weirdness and should not be doing that.
try running notepads instead of wows... see if you get multiple 2s (or whatever key you are hitting)
btw, you will need to add the notepad directly... if you try running it with a command, the wrong window gets added (it'll add the frame/titlebar and not the edit area). so, run notepad, click add... then click on the center of the editable area of notepad. that will insure you add the right window

i've actually had this happen, but im not saying its what you've got happening as well.
over the last few days ive been really tired and end up with 2 of the keyclones loaded, which means anything that gets broadcasted means it will be added to the windows twice.
i also found on some occasions that it double added windows due to me messing around, so be sure to check that only the windows you want are listed inside keyclone.
this may not be of any help, but it does happen that people miss the obvious sometimes.

I think I figured out my problem. Last night was the first time i'd gotten to play since i reported my problem, and holy crap do I feel stupid. I had *two* instances of Keyclone running. Not sure why it was only passing double keystrokes to 2 of my 3 instances of WoW, but after closing down one of the keyclone instances my problems went away. Guess thats what I get for drinking beer while playing WoW. :P Thanks for the help guys, and remember, only run *one* keyclone instance at a time.

Hmm, perhaps Keyclone could make it so that only one instance can be run per computer?

With Keyclone I rarely get double key presses on one machine, but it has happened. I've also tried to be silly and send smiley faces to my guild chat like this: :-) and 3 of the machines send something like ;0) something with the shift key. I never reported it... didn't seem important. But if you always get double 2's you could be in trouble.

actually, running another keyclone on the same box is valid... just don't use the auto-add and make sure you only add your clones to one of the keyclones (otherwise you get the multi-key press issue)
why you ask? that way you could have the keyclones connected to each other, but using different black/white lists.

ok so I keep getting double key press. I tested with notepad, and got single key presses, but when I start up WoW from keyclone I get double key presses in the clone window. I'm using one computer, one keyclone, and two instances of WoW. Any ideas what might be going on?
Edit: Issue corrected, apparently right clicking keyclone in the task bar makes it disappear. Ended up with 2 keyclones running, had to kill the one I couldn't find.
