I would like to start a discussion about Macaroon. I read about it in another thread about how is was a great bar mod and that it is very multibox friendly. Since the patch is in and allot of things had changed, I decided that now would be a great time to learn how to use a bar mod (been tri-boxing on the default bars since I started).
So far I am very impressed with Macaroon, however, it seems fairly complicated to me and I am afraid I am missing out on some of its great functionality. I have a list of a few basic questions.
1. I have not been able to figure out how to make a "stance bar" for my druid. Yes I have looked at the developers FAQ and he does describe how this works but I must be missing something. When I click on a form, lets say bear form, both bars (the stance bar and the paged bar that I created below it) disappear. I haven't figured out how to get the bear form actions onto the paged bar since that bar goes away when I exit bar edit mode. Has anyone here had success at setting up a druid with Macaroon? I would very much like some advice if so.
2.It seems there is a way to set each bar to have a target? (this made me very excited when I first saw this for Mbox reasons) Does this mean that if you create a bar and set its target to "focus" that all spells in that bar will be cast on your focus? I tried setting that up last night and it didn't seem to work for me like I thought it would.
Anyways, there are probably a few more questions that I could come up with but those are the most important for now.
What other cool functions of Macaroon have you found that makes your Mbox experience easier? Inquiring minds want to know!

I won't be much help with your questions, but I'd like to see the answers too. :)
I just started messing around with Macaroon last night. I managed to get 1 of my accounts set back up, and all the binds re-set.
I was using bongos before..and I was just too lazy to change to Trinity. But I really like that you can create macros in each button.
I'm trying to get used to the whole mouse-wheel used to set up everything..thing. But it's growing on me. :)

I can only help you with your first question :
How i did it for my druid : Right click the minimap button. Select Create new Bar. In the middle of your screen there is a new blue bar visible. Right click on it to show its menu Select Stance bar. Click on Button count and use your mouse scroll to determine how many buttons you want.
Press done when you are ready... As you can see your bar has switched its name.. instead of Bar 1- Normal. Its should now be called Bar 1 - Caster Form. Simply select Dire bear form from your spellbook. The bar will change into.. bar1 - Dire bear from and your gonna need to set the amount of buttons again. Do this for every form/stance and you should be all set.
For question number 2 : i have no clue and would like to know myself aswell :P

Was messing with it and was gonna put a thread up on it and ask questions myself, it took me a while to set it up but I cant even seem to set up the first part and assign it to be my main bar with all the cast buttons on it.
Will continue to mess with it when I got time but for now just using Dominos the replacement for Bongos.
Macaroon in itself is a great bar and Maul the creator seems to MB himself and from what I saw yes its a great MB addon since it allows you to set up the bar to have you cast on the target-target, focus-target so technically takes out the whole setting up macros to cast on focus or if you have your main selected just cast what ever is on the bar on the target the main is targeting.
I am still playing around with it and I R kind of confused with it but slowly picking it up.
As you all mess with it please post what you find out :)

Thanks for your reply Goat, however, I am more confused now then ever. In your example you only make one new bar and that is for the stance itself. What about the abilities bar that is supposed to page along with it?
I was messing around with Macaroon a bit after my first post and I thought I had it figured out. Created 2 bars, bar 1 being the stance bar with 4 buttons for my 4 shapes (bear, cat, travel, tree). Created bar 2 under bar 1 with 10 buttons for each shapes abilities. With bar 1 reading "Bar 1 Caster form" right clicked it and linked it to bar 2 and set it to linked state page 1. With bar 1 reading "Bar 1 Dire Bear form" right clicked it and linked it to bar 2 with the link state set to page 2. I did this three more times, "Bar 1 cat form " linked to bar 2 linked state page 3 , "bar 1travel form" linked to bar 2 linked state page 4 and "bar 1 tree of life form" linked to bar 2 linked state page 5. Then I exited out of edit mode and shaped into each form, each time dragging that form abilities to bar 2. The problem is that bar 2 isn't paging. When I click on dire bear form, bar 2 isn't changing to page 2.
I also played around a bit with setting a bars "target" . I created a new bar with just one button for now. Set that new bars target to "mouseover" . Exit edit mode and that new bar totally dissappears until you mouseover someone, then the new bar shows up with an empty button, With some tricky positioning I was able to mouseover a player while dragging my healing touch to that button. Next I set that buttions bind to key 1. Now I was hoping that when I moused over another player and hit key 1 that I would automatically cast healing touch on that person, However, I only got the "blue" glove icon. I again have set something up wrong.
I hope that since the Author (Maul) says that hes is a multiboxer that he visits these forums and can help us out with a tutorial or something. This mod has got great potential and I don't wanna give up on it yet.

Hm, I just tried to set it up.
It was easy enough to create a bar with buttons, but I couldn't for the life figure out how to 'drag n drop' spells onto it. It just didn't accept it.
I have this version: Macaroon_30000.beta.22.7 .. not sure if that's the one I need to have.

Hello all, Maul here...yeah I have been lurking for a bit. Unfortunately for me "Maul" is taken on this forum X(
Anyhow, I will try and answer some of the questions here.
@dbick ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=User&userID=11294') - #1 - Macaroon, like its predessessor Trinity, is a different beast than other bar addons. Each state contains its own unique set of buttons. Therefore, in order for there to be buttons when you switch states, you must add them to that state. This allows each button to be unique and offer much flexibility.
#2 - Bar targeting used to be a simple matter, at least in Trinity :) In Macaroon, any button set to type "action" will follow the target set for the bar. However, macros only follow the targeting via the macro code they contain. So, that means you can have a bar hide/show based on unit existence, but any macro buttons on that bar will need to be written for that target...unless, of course, you set the buttons to type "action"
@Metalocalypse ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=User&userID=1509') - When you are in an edit mode, the buttons have special frames covering them for editing purposes. Spells currently cannot be placed on them while in an edit mode. Once out of edit mode, it should not be an issue. I will be adding a feature when you pickup a spell or macro, the special frames will hide themselves temporarily.
Please note that Macaroon is still a "beta" addon. I am still working on getting all features working fully.

I'm glad you're here Maul, I just spent at least 2 hours trying to get a grasp on how to set up Macaroon. I've read all the FAQs and all 8 pages of the forum thread (didn't try the 41 pages of comments though).
I've never used any bar other than default Blizzard, so I'm way behind the curve at configuring this. I'm going to an action bar mod for three reasons:
1 - supporting my shammy team now they're getting to have more spells they use than I have on the base bar.
2- Making me more effective on my raiding feral
3- And shaping the bar to mimic my belkin n52te.
Is there an idiot's guide or a tutorial? I was able to create a bar that was 4x3 to match my speedpad, set it to paged (is that correct?) and set the other 5 bars to the same shape. Switched to bind and bound 1 thru = to page 1 bar 1, then managed to get into a mode where I could drag chain lightning to the slot corresponding to the same number on the blizzard bar, and it came up showing the icon for attack. Fought with it for a while and logged out in frustration.
Several hours to get the addon with sub-addons into all the right directories, but most of it was fighting to make one stinking bar on the main toon of my 4 shammy team.
Tooltips, helpfiles, tutorials, "Hey Stupid!" Diaries, help? A link to the old trinity "owner's manual"? I'm burning RAF and may have to brute force on the default bars to get my teams finished and then go back and try again.

I gatta agree, I love that the author has found us here.
I am still stumped. I also have read through everything including all the comments from others who say that everything is working great and they love it. I must be really slow. I spent over 4 hours on it today trying to make a simple paged bar that changes when I change shapes and Cannot get the bar to change pages when I shapeshift. I know that I am just missing some simple step and its driving me nutty. I love the potential of this mod. Please create a Macaroon for dummies(or stupid asses in my case).
I downloaded the newest update tonight and messed around with setting the bars "target" again. It still does the same thing. If I set the bars target to focus, that bar (or spells loaded in it) does not even show up on the interface until you have a focus set. Spells cast from that bar still do not automatically cast on the focus though, I get the glowy hand icon just as if it were a normal bar. Is that the intention? The whole functionality of the "target" function is to hide that bar from the interface until a focus is set or a mouseover occurs or whatever? Thats cool and all but I guess I don't see how that really helps a mboxer since we are not looking at the slaves interface that much. I guess what I was hoping it to do was autocast those spells on my focus,mouseover,targettarget..whatever without having to add all those conditions into the bar as a macro, thus making solo play a bit easier to set up.

Stupid people don't multi-box 8)
Before I go into specific answers, I will say this. If you used another actionbar addon, just know Macaroon (and Trinity) works differently. Bartender/Bongos/Dominos all use a system of minimal frames. That means, if you have a bar that is 12 buttons long and you set up paging, when you page, the buttons do not actually change to new buttons. The contents of the button gets updated with new info but the buttons are still the same "physical" buttons that were there before the paging. This is why in all states, the bar always has to be the same length.
Macaroon employs a system of independent, unique frames for each button in each state. This allows for great flexibility. What this means is that setting up bars requires each state to have the user add buttons to it. If you add buttons to page 1 of a paged bar, page 2-6 are still needing buttons. A bit more configuration, but it allows each button to hold its own unique data. One great flexibility with this that some users use is the ability to have different binds in each state. Lets say on page 1 button one has a bind of "1". Well, with all other action bars, each page 2-6 will have a bind of "1" for the first button. In Macaroon, on page 2 you could have a bind of CTRL-F1 on button 1 if you wanted to.
That being said, terminology is a bit more precise. Other bar addons refer to paging in a generic sense. Everything is part of the paging system. Macaroon is more literal than that. Paging in wow is really only the bars 1-6 on the default UI. But they are not stance "pages". The stance system is independent of the paging system. Other bar addons kinda merge it all together, because it indeed makes it easier to understand. However, with great flexibility comes great configuration :D So, if you want to set up a stance class (Druid, Warrior, Rogue) you have to enable "Stance" on a bar. This will then give you a "state" for each form/stance that class knows. To cycle through each "state", you merely left-click the bar and it will cycle through them. And as you cycle through them, you set them up, adding buttons. I hope that makes things a bit clearer.
Now, another thing that has to be understood is the nature of the buttons. Buttons can either be action ID-based or not. Action ID's are what the default UI uses to store the contents of the button on the server. Typically, most other bar addons also use these action ID's. When two buttons share the same action ID, their contents will mirror each other. Macaroon has a different button type - the macro button - this button type does not use action ID's but instead stores data about it's contents in it's own table locally (again why each button is independent in each state). This is what makes it possible to have an unlimited number of them. Due to server database storage reasons, Blizzard only allots 120 ID's for action buttons.
Now, a button that is action ID-based can take it's targeting from it's parent bar. If you set a button to type "action" (Macaroon still supports action buttons) then setting a bar's target will also tell that button which target to cast on. Macros, on the other hand, only get their targeting info from the macro code itself. They do not, and cannot, look at their parent frame and get targeting info directly, at the time of execution. This fact is important as all buttons created in Macaroon are type "macro" by default. That is why some targeting settings don't seem to work, because the macro did not get written with the data expected. Now, when you drag a spell from the spell book to a macro-type button, Macaroon auto-writes macros for you on that button based on the current settings. If you change settings after that, the spell had to be re-dropped onto the button or you have to manually open up the macro and edit it.
Now, macro editing is what this addon is all about. If you did not figure it out yet, to edit a macro you need to go into button edit mode. /mac edit or alt-click the minimap button. Once in that mode, each button will display the current type they are set to. If you right-click on a button while in this mode, a small editor for that button type will pop open. For macros, a macro editor not dissimilar to the Blizzard one opens up. There, you can see how Macaroon auto-wrote the macro for you. You can at this point adjust it to your needs. In the case of targeting, if you set a bar to target say "focus", you will have to add the [target=focus] macro command to it. That way the macro will target the correct target. Now if this button were a action button, it will get it's targeting info from the bar's target. A bar's target feature also serves to hide/show that bar based on unit existence, targeting is not it's only purpose.
I hope this clears up some mystery. Once you get the hang of it, you will begin to see the flexibility Macaroon offers

thank you very much for making an appearance on these forums. i've tried playing with macaroon on tuesday but with all the other addons breaking, relogging to see if things work, etc etc etc, i simply had little time to configure macaroon. i will be spending an hour or two (hopefully less) to configure all my buttons for basically all my toons... and their stances! hehe. just nice to know i can go to the source, pun intended, if i had problems or questions. peace.
Thanks for showing up Macaroon, so I can thank you for Trinity and now Macaroon. Great job!

Hi Maul, welcome to the forums. I really love Macaroone (especially, that you can copy it between toons :-)
One thing I find annoying: Is there a way to display the button editor/macro editor in the center of the screen, or make it draggable/resizable? I have a big screen and my bars sit in the lower left...

Thanks for this mod. I've come from using bongos (I was too lazy to reconfigure everything) and I'm really liking Macaroon so far.

Hey Maul! First off, thanks for Trinity and now macaroon. Secondly, how hard would it be to add the ability to set a bars target to a players name? I know you have the functionality of setting a bars target to Party1, Party2, etc... But I really would like to have multiple bars with each party member as the target. This would allow for a Focusless, leaderless multiboxing setup without requiring keyclone.

Biggest thing I stumbled around with was figuring out which mode I was in and what you could or couldn't do in each mode, a lot of blind right clicking experimentation.
That and all the possible checkboxes when you are setting up a bar, some make sense (stealth, pet, stuff like that) but not all.
And things like Alpha and Strata lost me entirely. Is there a resource somewhere that explains what those things do or what they are best used for?
I can tell the thing is powerful and endlessly flexible, but usually in cases like that you need tutorials, great tooltips, helpfiles, or some combination of all of them so schlubs like me have a hope of doing something flexible and portable among my team. Rob's youtube clips and sample setups and other endless idiot's guides to keyclone are one of the reasons a fairly powerful tool is less intimidating. Similar with Rawr and Jamba, they lessen complexity with tooltips or explanatory text.
That said, someone mentioned being able to copy the bars to another toon easily earlier in thread, how does one go about that? Once I get things settled in I'd like to copy paste and tweak to my other toons rather than do it all by hand again.
edit: can you tell I posted this from work with no wow windows in front of me?

Ok Maul thank you again for not only spending the time to create this addon but for spending the time over here holding our hands. Its all starting to sink in finally. That quote above made the light bulb appear over my head and I got the stance thing figured out. I guess what was confusing me was in your FAQ you made reference to creating 2 bars, one stanced and one paged then somehow linking them together, that is what I was struggling with.
Loved trinity, thanks for macaroon I'm sure I will end up loving it to. Trinity was by far the one addon I felt I would never be able to replace if it stopped working.

Wait, so to do Leaderless/Targetless - Focus Based Hydra ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=135241#post135241') , all I need to do is Bar target = focus, custom state as target=focustarget, exists , and then set all the buttons as actionIDs instead of "macro"?

That's somewhat what I've come to conclude as well, however i just set focustarget in target. - haven't gotten around to play with it yet, just configuring it
one thing though if you set the bar as focustarget target, it won't show as a bar until you .. have a focus and a focustarget it seems. - then it pops out.
i'm sure macaroon/maul can answer on how this exact feature works.
the most optimal solution for me would be to have a list of targets you can move up or down, call it "priorities" - with an added "condition" - it would then traverse down the list and cast on the first match it finds - not sure if that's possible though but that would allow for one bar to be used for all purposes without having to redo them
Question,
I used Bongos before, for one reason only: Able to use modifier (alt, shift, ctrl) to change bar (which also had 1-9 buttons).
Is this possible in macaroon aswell?

Ahh, that's nice that you can left click it, I wasn't aware of that. Instead I was shifting to all
my different forms to change the bars while editing them, 'twas a bit tedious ^_^
By the way, why aren't you just making two stanced bars instead of making one stanced and one paged?

One reason alone to swap to Macaroon is the possibility to trigger on key-down event instead of key-press. I haven't seen that since Discord.. Much love..
However, why do different bars share the same action id button? <- Read I am a moron that don't rightclick enough. Rightclick an action-id- button then "propagate" ..

Dear Maul,
Thank you very, very much. Please know how much I (and obviously others) appreciate your efforts. Words here cannot express the depth of my gratitude for your efforts to make this mod public and then to hold our hands while we try to get all this power under control.
I can truly say I have never felt this strongly about any other addon I have used. Most addons are a new flavor of mostly the same functionality. Your out-of-the-box thinking on this has gifted the MB'ing community more than most yet realize I suspect. Extending the macro character limit to 1024 characters - HUGE! Increasing the number of buttons beyond the 120 - also big. Just the whole idea of your action bar buttons each being macros... well, enough worship I suppose.
Again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Hàrem

Having never played around with bars other then the default one (I tried, just never got them to work), I think my only questions are these:
1.) If I install a bar mod and set it up, do I need to drag off all the spells from the default Blizzard UI bars before I install and hide my old default bars?
2.) If I don't need to drag off the old spells, do I need to unbind all the bindings I currently have for the default bars? (i.e. the normal 1-= and any custom binding I have like Num0 for Lower Right #12)
I think not doing those things may have been what has messed me up in the past, but I don't want to drag everything off and unbind everything if this isn't going to work the way I want.
Thanks!

1. No you can drag the spells from your spellbook or make macro's for the spells you want to use. You can install macaroon and in the menu disable blizzbars. Just remember what you put where. Or come up with a beter scheme, that is why most of us dont use the default blizzbar.
2. You can rebind in the process of making new bars. Start simple and mimic blizzbars and after a while find out how to implement the new functionalities it gives.
One thing I promise is that it is going to work like you want it to. But it takes time to get that accomplished. When 3.0.2. hit I installed macaroon since trinity was no longer supported and in about 2 / 3 hours I had all I had with trinity and more :D Starting over with stuff makes sure you take a clean approach.

Now that I'm working on my multibox characters I'm having issues when I drag my macro from my macro book to a bar.

/cast [mod:shift] Chain Lightning
/cast [mod:ctrl] Earth Shock
/cast [nomod] Lightning Bolt
I've put this on the first button in bar 1 (which is an action button with id#1) and bound it to '2'. When I press 2 it does lightning bolt (great!), when I press ctrl+2 it does earthshock (perfect!) but when I press shift+2 it does lightning bolt again and I can't figure out why.
This is the exact same macro I've used prior to macaroon =/
Most likely because Shift-2 is bound to switch to second bar...so bind it to an action then unbind it and it should work.

Once I get things settled in I'd like to copy paste and tweak to my other toons rather than do it all by hand again.
edit: can you tell I posted this from work with no wow windows in front of me?See if this thread helps - http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18454

(I'm Dragonsblaze from wowinterface Maul :P)Yup! Or maintain the macros with the targeting info you want ;)

That's somewhat what I've come to conclude as well, however i just set focustarget in target. - haven't gotten around to play with it yet, just configuring it
one thing though if you set the bar as focustarget target, it won't show as a bar until you .. have a focus and a focustarget it seems. - then it pops out.
i'm sure macaroon/maul can answer on how this exact feature works.
the most optimal solution for me would be to have a list of targets you can move up or down, call it "priorities" - with an added "condition" - it would then traverse down the list and cast on the first match it finds - not sure if that's possible though but that would allow for one bar to be used for all purposes without having to redo themThe bar target feature is meant to hide/show a bar on unit existence. If you do not want a bar with this behavior, then just make your macros with the targeting info you need and don't use the bar target feature.

I used Bongos before, for one reason only: Able to use modifier (alt, shift, ctrl) to change bar (which also had 1-9 buttons).
Is this possible in macaroon aswell?Yup!

Dear Maul,
Thank you very, very much.
Sincerely,
HàremHehehe, thanks :D

EDIT: Nevermind....I enabled the blizz bar and dragged my macros to it instead :)
I got all my solo characters set up with no issues (they dont use any macros)
Now that I'm working on my multibox characters I'm having issues when I drag my macro from my macro book to a bar.
Here is one of the macros:
#showtooltip
/assist [target=focus, exists]
/cast [mod:shift] Chain Lightning
/cast [mod:ctrl] Earth Shock
/cast [nomod] Lightning Bolt

That's the whole reason for the bar target, to not have to write all these macros :)

Totally loving this addon even though I haven't used it to it's full potential. I LOVE how I can now use large macros and put the macros right into the button. No more using bliz macros. Also, no more navigating that crappy key binding gui. This is just a boxer's dream as far as I'm concerned.

I migrated from Bartender (which I used as a solo-boxer) to Trinity and was completely floored. I'm a heavy macro user (integrated /assist macros in all of my dps buttons) and the standard /macro slots weren't cutting it because I also happen to be an altaholic ;) Character-macros + general macros would be filled by one 5-boxing group.
In any case, it also let me not have to worry about the length of character names or whether or not I wanted to stay within the character limit on macros -- complete godsend!
I migrated over to Macaroon and, while it did take a couple hours per team to get all of my macros rewritten (I didn't much care for the trinity->macaroon migrator as it didn't quite migrate correctly -- I would be missing an entire bar and many macros) -- I do appreciate the efforts and I like the new UI.
One comment -- when I was raiding with Trinity I would sometimes have time (during trash pulls, for instance) where I wanted to tweak a macro for a particular boss (purge dark fiends on m'uru for example) but I'd be in combat thanks to my guild's method of chain-pulling trash. Is there a way to turn off the "lockdown during combat" setting (on macaroon) so that I can still tweak my UI settings while in combat?

/mac create bar - Adds a bar...
Right click that puppy...

Right click again... Check the "Custom" box.
In the custom states...
[target=focustarget,exists]
I can get the bar to show up and disappear, I'd really rather it always be there, but either way try as I might I can't get it to cast on a focustarget...

Type /mac bind and mouseover your newly created bar and bind your keys...
I also /mac edit and then left click on each button til it says "action..." and then right click and set it to the right button ID (1-12 for the first toolbar)...
Now I have a bar that disappears if I have no focus... and disappears if the focus has no target. However it DOES work the way I want it to, if the focus has a target, I nuke it. If not, I nuke my target.
So I've setup a 2nd toolbar, did the same things for it without keybinds and without the custom state, but is that really teh best way to do this?

I believe so. I think maul stated earlier in this thread that this is the design of macaroon. When the bars have targets and the buttons have Actions ID's, the bars only show when the targeting is true (i.e. you have a target or a your focus has a target in this case). However, if you use macro buttons and assign each button a macro with the target in the code, i think the buttons are supposed to always show. I could be wrong though, but thought I read that in one of maul's earlier posts. Anyways if you want to use your leaderless/target setup thing like in your thread, I think the way you did it above is the best way to do it, otherwise you have to input the target code for each individual button.

Creating 2 bars per bar isn't horrible I suppose, I'm still confused on the keybinds... do the binds go to the ButtonID not the bar/slot (I'm guessing so...)
I can see amazing flexibility here once I get it all configured...

Must be macaroon flavored bait on my breath. Why is it I can box 5 characters, and figure out how to macro them all. Then I can learn the focus based hydra, and now I can't make it all work anymore.
All I want is a bar that stays where I can see it, that automatically tries to cast on my focus target. If I have to set up two matching bars one over the other for the first effect I will. Thing is, all this action ID is over my head, and I can't always drag a button on the bar. Help me Macaroon-kenobi. ;)

Oh, great you visit this forum :) I tried to post some remarks on the wowinterface forum, but yet another registration was too much for me....
I was using TrinityBars2 and tried to convert and ran into 2 problems preventing me from moving over. After diving into the lua, I "fixed" them (read: I managed to move my settings :p).
The first one was in the Trinity->Macaroon importer, can't remember the line right now (not at home) but the problem was something like:
if data[1].type == "item" then
macaroon.button.type = "macro"
if GetItem(data[1].item)
.......... /use
else
/cast
Somewhere around line 400-ish I belief (in the importer).
Turns out in my old trinity settings I have buttons of type "item" with the item tag being "". When passing this to the Wow function, it threw an error. So I just added a check for data[1].item != "" and skip over them. Solved my problems for converting trinity saved settings to macaroon saved settings.
Then I tried to import them, and got the next error, this one is posted on wowinterface too, with the 500;501;502.... numbers being displayed.
Turns out it's the pet bar giving problems.
I closed WoW, disabled the importer addon, and then manually opened the Macaroon saved settings, searched for the "500;501;...." string, found it in the pet bar, deleted all the buttons for that bar, (i set it to "")
I opened WoW again and lo and behold, there are my old buttons, perfectly as they were before :) I remapped the bindings (although they worked, they didn't show up on the buttons, even though I checked the option to display them).
Hope you read this info and can do something with it. Also, if others have this migration problem, the above info might help ;)

and there i was posting about macaroon in other threads. i am smrt.
hi, maul-acaroon. your add-ons are very sexy. my blood elf huntress wants to have your toons' babies. ALL of your toons. she's got plenty of stamina. =)
not only have i been using your stuff for ages, but now just about all of my wow'ing friends are on macaroon(even the ones that were a bit intimidated by trinity). you are officially expanding the parameters of sucka-mc amateurs.
forgive me if you've already posted this, but do you have a donation paypal address? as a game developer myself, i'm highly in favor of rewarding such efforts where clearly due. attaboys, kudos, and knob-polishing, oh my!

I have a question someone may be able to answer on Macaroon.
I am a long time user of Trinity, therefore setting up Macaroon came very naturally to me and I love it.
I am having one problem. I cannot work out how to setup one of my bars to show the appropriate button when you control something else like a zombie from the current world event. I thought this might work on the pet bar, however it does not. I single box on a mage and my pet bar for my water elemental works every time. Last night I was on my mage fighting KJ in the Nerfwell and I was assigned the dragon orbs. I had feared that the dragon control would not show up on my bars and I was right, I sat there in the dragon whilst appolagising to everyone on Vent for wiping the raid. I had to restore default blizz bars to continue the raid and although I like retro, I love my macaroon.
Does anyone know of a setting I am missing for this?
EDIT: I just found the answer to my problem. "Posess" anyways ignore this post :)
Thanks

started using Macaroon and loving the way that it works, but I have found a bug with the bags bar, if I turn on Snapto ? (think that's the option) and stick it to the Menu bar it doesn't stay after log off, it ends up in the middle of the screen, I have been able to put the bag bar on my screen and it does stay there after log off but if I join it to the Menu bar it's back in the middle of the screen again :(
ok I know I should log this at wowinterface but creating an account just for this would be a pain, sorry Maul :P

Is there some kind of guide or howto on setting up Macaroon? It looks like a pretty useful addon but I'm struggling to work out how to configure it.
Currently I use default Blizzard bars with /cast [target=focustarget] ability macros for every ability. I'd like to eliminate the need for all these macros if possible.
EDIT: Actually I use the focustarget macros for my shammies. For my hunters I use /target [target=focustarget]; /cast ability macros. Can those also be eliminated with the help of Macaroon?

Well I just started using Macaroon (from dominos) and its looking great.
Im not using the advanced stuff myself but to clear up some confusion just think of bar in which you set the targeting for as rewriting your macros to put the targeting of the bar into the macro you drop into it.
So you basically write macros without targets and then drop them into whatever bar (which has targeting set for it) and the macro gets auto-rewritten to match that bar.
So you write a macro "/cast nuke"
If you have two bars, one which the target is focus and one which the target is assist leader you drop this same macro into each bar and it writes the target line for you depending on which bar it is.
Then you can have many diffent targeting bars, which can fade in and out as needed if you wish. If your leader is alive you might have the assist leader bar be visable and the others faded. If the leader dies you can have a bar pop up which has "/assist toon2" as its target (you can customize the targets as you wish). I think you can fade them in and out like that, not sure.
This saves a lot of time in writing macros as you just need to change the "/cast nuke" to "/cast other nuke" and you dont have to rewite every individual macro (I dont think you have to redrop them into bars but maybe you do). Basically once you set up your bars you never have to put in targeting infomations with macros.
Obviously you can do a lot and with the ability to save profiles you dont have to write stuff for each toon.
All and all better then dominos ...
I'm Sam DeathWalker and I approve of this Product.
Ok you make a bar with this targeting stuffs:
/target [target=toona,nodead]; [target=toonb,nodead]; [target=toonc,nodead]; [target=toond,nodead]; [target=toone,nodead]
/assist
And you won't have to retype that all the time, and you have a single bar where if your "mainbrain" leader dies you can go to the next alive as the targeter.
Here is modifier for using right click to cast on urself:
button:1/2/.../5/<virtual click>
Similar to [modifier], [button] allows your macro to respond differently based on which mouse button is being used to activate the macro. Button numbers 1-5 correspond to left, right, middle, button 4, and button 5. If your macro is activated by a keybinding, [button:1] will always be true. As an example, here is the macro I use for mounting:
#show Swift Green Mechanostrider
/userandom [nobutton:2, flyable, nomounted] Ebon Gryphon; [nomounted] Black Battlestrider, Swift Green Mechanostrider
/dismount [noflying] [button:2]
Behavior when not mounted: left-clicking will pick Ebon Gryphon if it can be used (flyable), otherwise it will randomly pick the Black Battlestrider or the Swift Green Mechanostrider. Right-clicking will always pick one of the mechachickens.
like this:
/Target toona
/cast [button:2, target=player] [] Healing Wave
Point being you can make a bar that lets you right click on things to cast them onyourself, otherwise they use the target or assist you have set.
Put them together you have a heal button that will Heal your main (or 2nd if he dead) (or 3rd if first two dead, or yourself if all 3 others is dead) if you click on it or heal yourself if you right click on it!
/target [target=toona,nodead]; [target=toonb,nodead]; [target=toonc,nodead]; [target=player]
/cast [button:2, target=player] [] Healing Wave

HOLY THREAD NECRO BATMAN
Maul, WRU?
Someone was kind enough to update the main lua file to be 3.0.8 compliant, but your extras are only kinda working. I hope you're not in a diabetic coma from all those Coke's people bought you.
Lets keep this mod going, it's too good to let go.

Hi guys, wicked/awesome/uber addon!
Excuse the noob question, however I have searched many a forum in search of such a basic answer. Maybe I missed something/several things.
Basically, I play warrior. Stances. I have managed to configure my main left action bar to be my stance bar. It successfully cycles through my desired stance buttons as I change stances (yay).
HOWEVER: I would like to be able to use one keybind for a different button in each stance. I.E. in slot "1" i want it to be bound to Hamstring in Battle Stance, Heroic Strike in Berserker Stance, and Revenge in Defensive Stance. How do I do this? It seems I can only bind spells to keys. Not button slots to keys...
As i am noob, i will need a noob-friendly response please :D
****EDIT****
Figured out how to do it. Really basic. Type /mac bind and then mouse over the buttons u want to bind and bind it to the corresponding key!
Another problem has surfaced >_<
All went well whilst dragging abilities from my spellbook onto my stance bars. however when I tried to drag them to my berserker stance, It wouldnt let me drop them onto the bar? Almost like the bar was locked or something? it worked fine for battle/defensive stances.. I checked all the configs for the zerker stance bar, and they are exactly the same as the other two bars. Why is this one locked and wont let me drop spells onto it?!?
Thanks in advance!

Dumb question, but do you have buttons added for that stance?

try to edit the buttons and see if it got changed to an action tag or something else. if so click the button while in edit mode until it turns back to macro.

Ok slowly but surely im working through it. Couple questions for whoever does use macaroon. 1. how do you bring up your bags and key chain bar 2. how do you bring up your computer and character bar.
I guess im gonna stick to focus based since i am using the original ui mini map but not the action bars.

They are part of it, you just need to have it turned on to let the addon handle them

Like i mentioned i got all the stuff to work out putting in the macros and all and binding them to keys which allowed me to reset to defaults thank god lol. Just need to find my baggies and make a spot for them. Thanks for any help. One more thing i want to change the look of my character icon is there a addon to do this without messing everything else up.
