Post 3.0 patch, has anyone else noticed that when you cast a spell on a target, and then switch to a different target mid-cast you automatically switch back to the target your casting the spell on? It's the most annoying thing ever, I wonder if it's a bug or an actual change to the way targeting works now. From my experience thus far the only way I could select a new target was when I was not casting anything

I experienced the same thing. And I was thinking I messed up my focus macro`s, since I got those running for the first time after the patch as well.

Maybe my new macro`s are just wrong.
I currently use, 2 pc`s for 4 shamans.
I have 4 hotkeys that are bind to a macro:
/Focus toonname
The 4 hotkeys change my focus.
Then I have the 2 macro`s:
/Follow focus
/Assist focus
So far it seems messedup, I have to bash the assist button a few times before my toons assist, follow allways works instantly but assist is just crap. Now my targetting takes forever and when I try to assist on a friendly target I have to hit the button a few times and toons go on different targets, like the new one and the one before.

Ya why in the #@%@#$%@$% ('mailto:#@%@#$%@$%')@ did they reset the key bindings. I tried focus for awhile but didnt get good results (before the patch) and just want back to:
/target (mainguy)
/follow
/assist
/cast (phatnuke)
So can anyone confirm that this is fixable with a keybinding change? Being able to target something else while casting is critical even for single boxing, I constantly use/used it on my single toons.

I'm pretty sure its a matter of keybinds mixed with a couple bugs. I noticed that some of my characters had tab bound again, so I was getting random results when I would change targets on my main. Try going through your binds from the UI, since they pretty much ignore the files now, and see if there isn't one in there that is messing with you.

I think your issue is related to "Sticky Targeting." In your Interface Options try to turn this option on. I believe that should fix your issue.
On a semi-related note my macros no longer work. I had used: /cast [target=Xealy-target] Lightning Bolt but this macro will no longer work for some reason, but using it as focus instead continues to work correctly.

Sticky Targetting would be worth checking, although it didn't turn on for me. I had some issues with one of my macro's and tagets. It was:
/cast [target=Souca-target,exists,dead] Skinning
but I wasn't able to get it to work so I just went with:
/assist Souca
/cast Skinning
/targetlasttarget
Hopefully I'll be able to play around and see what changed with the target options.

Sticky Targetting din`t fix the problem. I also changed from focus to normal assist by name and still they change back to old targets, quite sucks since I usually select the next target while casting the last spell on on mob to keep up the speed. Same for healing, now I cannot select one of my shamans to heal them since my main goess back to his old target.
