It was only two days ago I decided to go try multiboxing because of the recruit-a-friend bonus. I have to admit that I always felt that multi-boxing was cheating and should be disallowed, but now I tried it myself a whole new world opens! I haven't had so much fun in a long time :). It turns levelling to a really fun experience again instead of the drag of having to level yet another character.

So I decided to start with 2 hunters on 1 computer as I assumed that would be the easiest. I use Octopus and a couple of macro's and it was indeed very easy to set up and get rolling. The biggest annoyance where the collection quests, but with RAF I suppose I just have to avoid those and I'll still easily level up by questing. Since I didn't really like sacrificing a lot of screen real estate for only 1 extra client I decided I'd attach a second monitor instead. Since the monitor didn't fit on my desk anymore (big screen) I decided to use my laptop as a second PC instead. So now I have my PC and my laptop coupled with Octopus. KVM was a breeze to set up and I prefer this a lot over 1 computer. I can even imagine collection quests aren't so annoying anymore using such a setup (as long as you don't have too many toons).

Now I got slightly more familiar with multiboxing and don't really like hunters I want to give melee a shot. However, with melee you have the problem of positioning and facing. I realize that you can work around this partially by careful movements while engaged with a mob (i.e. face towards your alt and then step backwards while holding aggro so your alt can attack his back). I was wondering though if there where easier (and safer; if you have to step backwards like I described you sometimes also risk pulling unwanted aggro) methods of aligning yourself. If for instance I look at the screenshot of the 36 boxer I see the toons positioned in a way that looks automated. What are the best ways to do that?

The easiest way is to use the search engine. There are literally 95 hits for "melee facing". I am feeling less generous than normal so I am only gonna supply one link

DOGS OF WAR: A Melee Multi-boxing experiement ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=57395&highlight=melee+facing#post57395')

EDIT: I hate misspelling.

Thanks for the answer. I already read some of those. I suppose what I really should have asked is if something like this:

is done manually or through scripts/tools/whatever
