View Full Version : Shamans getting crushed

So my shamans probably do 20% less damage after patch, even though I have about 1400 spell power.
But the REAL problem is - just about every other class got buffed - big time. ESPECIALLY ret pallies, locks, mages, hunters - it's nuts.
I find I'm getting stunned about triple the amount I'm used to.
It feels like I'm wearing 0 resil gear - that's how fast my guys are getting crushed - it's nuts. Hopefully bliz fixes the OP and UP classes - it doesn't even make sense at this point.
My druid bear form went from 23000 armor to 12000. :(

Are you talking about inside instances only? I know resil will count for 0 in WotLK but I'm don't remember reading that it started already.
I think he's talking about PVP. My shamans go down fast now against ret pally's.

How is anyone even getting near your shamans? It sounds like you're not spec'd for PvP.

I think he's talking about PVP. My shamans go down fast now against ret pally's.everything goes down fast now against ret pallies. they are killing clothies in anything less than the best gear almost instantly. My toons have mediocre gear, about 200 resil and ret pallies were killing my priest through dispersion (90% damage reduction) in less then 4 seconds.

I haven't been able to play much yet but... While setting up my keys a 70 mage in the guild complained about being 3 shot by 65 ret pally.
It's anecdotal, but the wealth of such info suggests there is balancing yet to be done.

I'm not trying to defend paladins, because I agree that currently ret paladins are hitting a bit hard and changes may be necessary, but the issue is that the game is not balanced for level 70 currently. I believe that at 80 the differences will be greatly evened out, so I'm very concerned that Blizzard may have a knee-jerk response to ret paladins in their current form.
That being said, they didn't take level 70 out of the game completely, and people will be pvping at level 70 years from now. There's no reason you should be unable to pvp at 70 unless you're a ret paladin, so some level 70 balancing is not out of the question. However, I think it's important it not affect end-game performance of ret paladins. I am VERY interested in finally getting a ret paladin in my raids, I've been too long without one because of prejudice. If a period of overpowered-ness is required to force guilds to be less adamant about keeping them out of raids, I'm glad to accommodate.
yep ret pallies hit hard but keep in mind that at 80 you'll have on
average 20k health. From my experience in beta ret pallies hit
hard.. but DKs can really do a number on you. WIth 2 or 3 of them
.. you'll end up flying around to each one and taking 4k crits.. now
that's fun :)

You ought to see what they do to a hunter team...
Although, the worst foe for my hunters is a new fire mage. PBAoE ownage.

Had a single fire mage almost take down my whole team, then I remembered to Tstorm his ass away. I camped him for a while, just for good measure.

Yeah it feels like I'm a brand new lvl 70 again. In av I'm getting stomped, as if I had zero resil. Thunderstorm is awesome and all, but all the other crap other classes got screws me up pretty badly.
LOL I'm LOVING my Ret pally atm because so many people are just simply not expecting the differences to Ret pallies that have been made. :D In Beta ppl are much more use to it and it's not such a slaughterfest.
Don't worry however as a few have already said. The pure ret pwnage is greatly reduced by the time we all will hit 80. Not that Ret paladins aren't still doing good dmg at 80, but it's alot more manageable.

ill tell u this. i logged tonight and world server went down (azeroth), but anyways, i still could access my chars in shat: a rogue and a pala. i built a tree for retri and grabbed my garbage gear, 2 minutes later i was one shoting mobs and other players. seal of command procs, divine storm, crusader strike, a normal weapon swing...a SoC judgement followed by a SoC refresh and on top of that, use ur Hammer of Justice. and wtf is up with that uber mana regen ? lololol i mean...wtf?! no wonder they stun a target, and it basicaly dies, its just amazing...i have close to 160 days played on that paladin, and i never had so much fun watching so many big number in such a short space of time.
It's too much imo, but if it stays this way, im gonna enjoy it sometimes :)
as for our shammies in AV, imagine what it is to fight single char against melees...

But never fear, the floods of QQ tears have already made their way to Blizzard HQ and the ret pally nerfs have already began. They might not be class breaking nerfs just yet but this is looking way too familiar with exactly what happened to Ret pallies right before BC. Only time will tell but let's just say I wouldn't be suprised if I'm playing another class by the time Wotlk goes live. I'm not going through all of the shit again for a 3rd time.

the floods of QQ tears
Seriously, this is not just people whining. This is a class that is doing too much damage and too much burst.
This is 2-Handed Windfury pre-BC type damage... it won't last.
