Dual-Spec system
The dual-spec system will be introduced in a content patch. The goal is to let you switch specs very easily in raid, even between fights ! However it won't be possible to switch specs in the middle of an arena match.

What do you guys think about this? Any thought if it's gonna cost anything? (I dont think it will, but limited to two specs only)
This is awsome, ofcourse.

-It will be easier to find PUG's - to anything (read:raids 10/25 for boxers)
-We may respec healer/tank for PvP when they need to farm honor.
-We may repsec the healer for dps on trash in heroics etc (despite it doesnt cost anything)
-We may respec 1/+ dps to healer on bosses, to learn heroics faster etc.

-Even respec tank to dps on certain fighs (kael mgt)
What are your thoughts?

Sound great to me. I love having 5x boomkin for questing/pvp but being able to change spec to feral and restro easily for instances would be awesome.

It'd be kinda funny to see 5 resto shaman in a BG just healing everyone else...

But it'd be really sweet if it's true. I love hybrid characters (never liked classes that cant self heal) but for solo play, playing a healer just plain sucks. Now all I have to do with my shaman is give all the healing gear to one to be my healer when needed. And my holy priest can be Disc for PvP. Too bad its not a triple spec :) I guess thay have to keep some sanity, otherwise it would just devalue spec in general.

What I want to know is how the mechanic for switching the spec out will work. According to the Blizzcon Q&A, it can be done inside of instances which really rocks. But is there money involved? I would hope not and I would think that we'll have to pay twice as much (if not more) than we do now to "respec" (note that in this new system, "respeccing" would refer to swapping the specs, what I mean here is REDESIGNING the specs). I've been out of the Beta test for a while now to concentrate on prepping for the launch with my RAF teams and everything - has anyone in the beta test seen this in action yet?

As far as i understand, this isnt even i beta yet - "will be introduced in a content patch" doesnt that man when the next 25 man comes?
Anway, i hope and think that you will be able to switch between 2 premade specs, without paying.

This goes well with not having to repurchase spell talents everytime you respec. I would like to see a preview of the interface when you setup the 2 specs. Will the trainer offer you all the spells in your dual spec on the first visit after the content patch (whenever that is)? Enquiring minds want to know!

However it won't be possible to switch specs in the middle of an arena match. With dual-spec introduced in the game, there are also discussions about an Itemrack-like mod being introduced to the default UI There is going to be a dual-spec interface introduced in a content patch after the expansion. The talent spec process will be revisited at the same time. (Confirmation boxes to prevent misplaced talents, etc ...)

This is all of the info I found on the dual spec feature (listed on mmo-champion.com)

Sorry for the borked copy / paste job.

I hope they don't change their minds on this. Being able to hit one button to switch specs and another to swap out some gear will make playing this game MORE FUN! IMO. i LOVE IT!.....

....BUT! I have been reading some very valid points against this idea. With the way they are making all DPS "specs" do similar DPS, ask yourself this ( as a raid leader ) You have nothing but good players to choose from. So skill is not in this equation, assuming all your players are geared and skilled the same for the class they play. Now lets say a rog and a druid can do the same dps ( feral druid ) would it not be wise to take the druid over the rog? The druid can "swap" and become a healer or tank. The rog can swap to do another type of DPS? I know theres more to it than that, like what debuffs they bring etc.. And a "fair" raid leader will make sure everyone gets raid time. But to optimize a raid you want as much flexibility as possible right?

Anyways, a lot of people are giving the above argument against duel specs ( better examples than I gave I'm sure hehe ) I hope it goes in and its not crazy expensive. But i have a feeling that if it goes live, they will add a cost to it to keep it from being abused. So it will be like " Hey druid.. were short tanks tonight, going to need you to swap tonight." druid "damn! i don't have a 100g atm! "

Bear in mind that the "parent" classes have utility that the hybrids just don't. The DPS isn't the only issue here, especially in raids. The various changes to DPS were made for the sake of five man content so that everyone could get through it.

I'm surprised no one brought up the possibility that it may cost money to initially enable your second spec. This seems like a great opportunity for them to add a huge gold sink (5000g+ imo) into the game that EVERYONE will want to purchase. I doubt too if it will be available for lower level characters, perhaps becoming available at 60. For a new player, it's hard enough to figure out one spec, let alone two.

I hope they don't do this since (I think) they intend this to be a primary mechanic in the game. They've needed this for quite some time, along with spellpower.

I hope they don't too :D
