View Full Version : How suspicious are you of level 1 alts?

I get lots of random conversations with level 1 alts on Mag asking if I'm zin and then asking me how to box. While I'm pretty helpful, I can't help but wonder if I'm being scammed sometimes. Tonight was a case in point.
<lvl1>Hey, are you the legendary Xzin?
<me>LOL...no. Can I help you?
<lvl1>Maybe. I have a question. I was thinking of starting a 5-box group but with 5 live players playing a priest and 4 mages.
<me>OK.
<lvl1>I was thinking Zin could help me learn how to coordinate them.
<me>So, do you like pie? (The cake is a lie.)
At that point, I felt sure I was being setup for something. The guy said a few times after that that he/she/it? was serious. /shrug
Am I growing cynical from all the verbal shenanigans? :P
Its more likely they are just admirers but how do they get your name? It's not like boxing is impossibly hard to do - especially considering I lay out almost exactly how to do it.

im more suspicious of them level 1 alts that relog after am arathi basin complaining to me about the dots and how they can survive that many.
they must be really upset or annoyed because they seem to have a raging temper, even after i calmly explain to them that their twinked up char they spent thousands on got raped by 3 locks 8 levels lower they still seem upset.
i seriously wonder how many times i've ben reported since i made my 3 locks and 3 shamans.

Could it not be people who normally play on other servers who have heard of Xzin (is the anyone who hasn't?) and want to do the same thing? One of our MVPs says he gets the same deal on the EU servers people making a lvl1 alt just to say hi. :?
As for talking to you, probably does a /who Zerg and picks you as you're online/highest/best named/something else.

Hmm...I guess some it is the conversations I've had lately are on such a dumbed-down level (typos, "i no rite?" etc.), I can't help but think it must be a ruse. I suppose I need to consider that not everyone has been playing WoW for almost 3 years. :P

I usually just respond with my macro'd "For more information on multi-boxing go to www.dual-boxing.com and check out the forums."
Been thinking of adding to that lately with "... btw, please jump RIGHT in with questions before you even begin to read the forums due to the fact that everyone loves answering the same questions over and over."

Huh, I get weird characters following me around and then finally asking me, "Chinese?", and then a couple lines of mandarin or whatever, that I have no clue as to how to decipher.

I need to incorporate a dual-boxing.com response macro as well. It saves soo much time. I love the response when they check out the site and usually then reply with, "ohhhhhhh".

There's actually someone claiming to be Xzin on my server, playing eight of something.
Yeah, European server.

Yeah, European server.
How sad... get Xzin in here to confirm it's not him, and then link that guy to this thread. Some people need to get a life/identity of their own -.- (unless ofc Xzin is on holiday in EU ;) )
edit: all those of us on EU servers should roll a team on that server and start following him around and spamming "I'M XZIN!" "I'M XZIN!" ;)

Eh you guys are pretty helpful to people... But I've even better.
Here's what I do.
/dnd www.dual-boxing.com is all you need to know.
*edit* The best is when I put my shaman in ghost wolf form and make a train of follow, people love it. :)

Flattered but I have never played on an EU server. Will post this to the official (US) WoW forums if you want.

random: r u xzin?
me: no
random: then who r u?
Similar has happened to me several times when I was on mag.
When I was leveling my 2nd set of 5 box 'locks, people accused me (Xyzin) of being an imposter :)

I probably would. I imagine anyone that knows of you but only the original five would either assume that or an alt team. I can't think of anything else it could be.
