So I have dual boxed a rogue/shadowpreist to 60, with macros set to have him cast smite or something when I use sinister strike. So i mash my sinister strike and when the preist stops movng cause I'm rightnext to mob then he casts his spell. The problem with double melée is the second character is rarely close enough to the target to hit him. Im guessing I would just have to run around and through the target and thatway some of the warrs abilities would hit from time to time. This sound right or is there a better way... Ps I've looked far and wide on this site and can't fnd anything on this

im new to double melee too. i'd use my main and walk backwards. the mob will follow my main while the slave is hacking away from his back, and oftentimes, my slave's toon is right on top of the mob. im sure there're better methods. i'd like to see other posts too. =]

It shows up every time someone asks what composition of classes they should start out with, and the answer is always "all ranged dps is much simpler for new people".

That said, the cure is to run your main directly through the mob, which turns the mob's back to the trailing toon, which comes in range that way.

Currently for my group, what i'm doing 85% of the time is what jheusse said (run through the mob until the alts are hitting the mob, then i turn around and attack with my main) but there are some mobs that like to dance around me endlessly for some reason (not sure if it's agro bounce or network latency or something. but happens pretty consistently with certain mobs like the ogres in burning steppes) what i do is i have all the alts movement key bound on the small directional keypad underneath the island of home/end/insert/delete keys, and since all 3 alts are bunched up together from the autofollow, i can effectively control them as one toon in terms of movement most of the time. In those instances i will manually control and walk/turn the alts to make up for the mob moving around me) i'd imagine this method would probably be a lot easier when you're only 2 boxing melees as long as you can get used to controlling 2 toons simultaneously with your left and right hand (main with asdf, alt with directional keypad)

alternatively, what i do sometimes is have alts on autofollow, have main hit the mob but if alts are still out of range due to network lag or whatever, then i'll tap the walk back key for the alts so they stay in place and then i'll manually walk the mob back to within range of the alts melee range. up to now it has worked ok for me most of the time.

good luck! running a bunch of melees is a pain. just hoping pallies get buffed enough in wotlk to make the effort worthwhile. :p

DOGS OF WAR: A Melee Multi-boxing experiement ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=61835&highlight=melee+experiment#post61835')

Lots of good info in that thread.

I use Jamba with follow strobe on 1 second with my 5 paladin team. /startattack then move my main right towards mob, usually stopping before mob is in weapon range. The mob usually runs toward your main and stops right in melee range. Then tap up arrow (do not pass) until your toon is touching mob, watch death happen. I run through and turn around on casters, as they usually remain stationary to cast.

Not having follow break makes it way easier to wiggle around if you need when a single battle becomes a scrum. Still, MB melee is way harder than ranged any day. I'm doing it for the challenge. My goal is to 5 box single class teams of each class as far as I can. Have fun with it!
