Here's where you get to smile and make fun of me. :)

I took my newly formed team of 5 (lvl60) shamans in lvl40 gear to HF Ramps...guess what happened?

Why lvl40 gear you say, because RFA had me using my rogue to level 4 of them through questing and ZF and then Felwood/Winterspring and then I used the grant free levels to make a new 60 (59 but you get the idea).

So I started gearing them last night through the basic HF quests, but at what point should I make another attempt at HF Ramps. Do I need a certain armor level? Spell Dam level? All Shamans are spec'd Elemental.

Thanks for your insight in advance.

As I run with a tank, I can't give personal advice - I didn't clear the place until 64, but that's because of the last boss - 5 grounding totems should may make that a bit easier. In any case, the wiki has a page for each instance, including what level what teams have had success at clearing it - here's the one for Ramps:

I was in a similiar situation, I boosted my 5 shaman from 1-60 so they were litterly naked. When i did cruuls intention my characters only had a shield and hat on, hehe...I thought just getting gear first from quests made the most sense, it was also pretty quick. Most of that gear you will keep using for quite a while...took mabey 5 hours to go from being naked to totally geared out minus ring and neck (boes are fine here). I was level 61 on all characters after this questing, did ramps and had around 300 spell damage...it was a joke. Then did bloodfurance 61/62-63, it was also pretty easy, only challenge being the second boss but hes doable

Best bet is to just do all HFP quests that aren't collection based. Once you're done with those, you should have sufficient gear to easily finish HF Ramps. The biggest thing is make sure all your guys are wearing mostly mail, and the most important - all 5 have a shield!

Getting the last boss down will be easy as well with 5 shamans but ONLY if you use the "cheat" method (check the wiki or every other ramps post out for the info on that). I first solo'd it at 61.5 after doing all HFP quests. I think I had something like +200 spell damage and around 4500 armor (I can't remember exactly).

If they were boosted all the way, it might be quite low. To solve low defense, someone suggest going to a lowbie area and turning your toons back to a mob (that way they cannot dodge). Apparently this builds up defense skill. (Not that I have tried it to confirm it.)

I run it at 60 after I'd done approximately 2/3 of the HFP quests (1paly 4 shaman) team. I would expect, given the nature of the boss fights, that you could do the same with 5 shaman.

The key for me was some strategy on a few of the pulls. This might help some:

Ramparts? Do I just suck 5 boxing? ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=108739&highlight=#post108739')

Little different for you without a tank, but the basic strategies should be sound.
