So I am just about to log out last night and everyone in trade chat were saying anal and linking spells. Some person didnt think it was as amusing as the rest of us. I hope the people who made the investigation found it as funny as the rest of us. Maybe my humor is warped but I dont know how this is bad. I guess this game of linking is off limits from this point on.

You could also have been given a warning for not using trade channel for trade. Take your pick :P
I'm betting everyone in that period of time got a warning.

Because the trade channel spam before a shutdown is getting pretty old...I don't know...maybe after the 20th time. As does the lame attempts at wit with linking spells/abilities with anal. It was mildly humorous once or twice, now it is just annoying and sad. Get over it.

I used to report everyone for that anal [whatever] crap. I'm all for joking and messing around but I find that just lame and unfunny :( (again thats just me) anyway, I found an even better way to solve this problem. I left /trade months ago and never returned ;)

I'm betting everyone in that period of time got a warning.WTF? You can actually SELL stuff in trade channel? This must be new! I thought /trade was short for /tradeshit or /tradeinsults or /tradetrashtalk.
I got one a while back myself, it was for the Anal Linking stuff, and I honestly figured I'd get a warning for it. It was Anal [Warglaive of Azzinoth]. I figured, best of both worlds. Funny, that's the only one I did ... and I still got a warning for it lol.

^Yea, Blizzard would have recieved many reports/complaints about it and just done a search for anyone who typed "Anal" in a given time period and gieven a warning to every single person.
Great thing about boxing is you can report people multiple times, and you don't have to speak to a GM about it, you can just type out the message and atthe bottom add in "I don't require a GM response."

I don't report people for doing it because it annoys me, I report them because it is lame and so 3 months ago. They should know better and try to find something new. They deserve the account warnings for being lame.

I still find it funny.. To me its like fart jokes. They are so old yet still make me smile. I guess any further linking will need to be without anal. There are some creative ways to WTS things linked.

has your server been through the "harry potter and the [item link]" phase yet? And what about quoting movie titles but substituting one of the words for Murloc?

This is one of the reasons trade is off on my units. I turn it on every so often and it's the exact same jokes that were running through there like a bad case of Montezuma's Revenge a year ago.
On the other hand, a quick search reveals folks are working on solutions to the peurile nitwits endless sophomoric banter: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info10116-ASSinTrade.html
And this one is especially appealing: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info9754-TradeBlock.html
BRB...need to go test 'em.
[edit] ASSinTrade works great! Just have to edit the LUA to add more filters (like "LF JC" which isn't in by default). Well worth the effort. Hafta wait 'til primetime to test the other one. ;)

eh... the anal thing doesn't bother me. Kind of like listening to the radio, if I don't like it... I look for a new station or turn it off. I don't see it that often though.

I'm on a RP server so I report people non stop for that kind of behaviour, for me it really ruins the game. I realise that it's pointless and that these stupid egotistical people will never stop their silly antics but maybe if I report enough people enough times blizzard will find a way to automate policing of the trade channel.

Freaking hate the anal spam on frostmourne horde.
It wasn't funny on wowbash and it sure as shit ain't funny ingame after months of it being spammed.
As for tuesday shutdown spam, I so hope that people get banned for that as my ignore list is full, and ignoremore is broken.
Omg how many anally repressed people are on this forum? I SO agree with pinot, shit like that can be funny, even you guys agree its funny. But the problem is, they made the joke 3 months to late so you report them.. hypocrites.
Must say the gms in the us are a lot faster with warnings, the shit that goes on in my servers /2 goes way beyond this crap, and i never even heared of somebody getting banned/warnings, thank god. Keep the repressed on 1 server so they can keep eachother company! :)

Think I'm going to start reporting everyone that does it now too, it's not funny, nor was it ever. Falls in the same category as Chuck Norris jokes and Leeroy Jenkins references :/
I posted a "Multiboxing is great because it allows me to report your spam 5 times" line in /2 or /1 a couple of times. That usually resulted in a few "LOL"s and some panick and insults from the spammers that knew that they were going to get reported.

In general, I report anyone who uses the /trade channel for idiotic spamming with each of my accounts. And yes the "intelligence-challenged" anal [whatever] spam is top of the list. Doubt it has any effect, except the temporary /ignore that reporting someone for spam generates, but that'll be up to Blizzard to police - it's their game after all.
We don't get the "anal" jokes on French servers. At least not yet. We did suffer the Chuck Norris ones, but this seems to be over.
I report quite systematically /trade spamming when I am in town trying to actually buy or sell something. And I also like to think that reporting five times helps attracting MJ attention. I never said I was doing it, though, but I will, great idea Ken. I will also give a try to the addons Ughmahedhurtz linked.

It's vulgar and not funny. I personally report any and every one I see doing that sort of thing. Murloc, Anal, whatever.
Personally I think blizzard needs to ramp up 2nd offense violations on these, the warnings stop some folks, but I see the same offenders in the channel every day...
Of course, I saw a guy make an anti-semantic joke in trade, reported him and actually spoke to the GM about it, and the guy was on the next 3 days as well... yet a guildmate of mine earned himself a (well deserved) 3 hour vacation from WOW by spamming a short bus ascii art into trade a few hours before raid...

Bwhahahaha! I haven't heard it called that in forever! I bet less then 1/2 the people understand what that means without googling it.

No, it's not funny. To quote the Master: No, no. That wasn't funny. Hmmm, you see I'm not making myself very clear. Funny is like this [He smilies manically] Not funny is like this [He frowns] And right now, I'm not like - [He smiles again] - I'm like [He frowns] because you are traitors. Yes, YOU ARE! As soon as you saw the votes swinging my way, you abandoned your parties and you jumped on the Saxon bandwagon. So, this... is your reward. [He pulls out a gas mask and puts it on]
The only thing that might possibly be funny and only the first time is Anal [rentetive] but since there isn't a spell called that yet, not funny to anyone over the age of 5.

Don't forget you will get some multibox hate by doing that ;)
And I suggest doing that in /1 because else it's also spam and you might get corrected for that. People with /2 active generally also read /1 anyway.

I am shocked by the number of people who report constantly. I have been playing wow since it released and I only reported people who curse me out in tells which has only happened maybe a few times. I dont have time to waste reporting every person who says something I dont like in this game. I guess the people who always say Reported are not kidding. They need to make a new title for wotlk called Jr. Report Police. How can you report someone for saying murloc? Quoting EA Sports... It's in the game!
How can you report someone for saying murloc? Quoting EA Sports... It's in the game!
The short answer: I press "report spam" because it's spam and disallows people to use the trade channel what it's meant for.

The long answer:
I think you're completely missing the point. Trade chat is meant for trading and general chat is meant for general chat. Any general chat in the trade channel is spam by definition. It requires no extra effort to post it in /1. There are people who actually use the trade channel for what it was made for and those people's messages get lost because of the spam. The spam you describe basically disallows people to use a part of the game because their messages get wiped away instantly by the spam.
I don't report all the spam there, but I will definitely start reporting when there's a constant flow of spam in that channel which makes it impossible for me to track the actual trade messages.

It's pretty simple, if you want a world chat channel, just create one. Type /join analshitisfunny and tell every other retard to join it, too. Then you can all spam that crap wherever you are! You don't even have to sit in Shatt and waste our time!

Is there any way to report spam on someone using a / command? Ie: turn off DNP on keyclone and type /report spam <name> to auto report the person with all 5 of my characters? If so I would so report people more often.

The reason those people spam those stupid anal links is because they think they're funny and being unique somehow. If they were all stuck in a room together spamming anal links, they would
A) Not be annoying anyone so that goal would not be accomplished.
B) They would not feel unique anymore as everyone in the channel is spamming the same stupid crap.
C) I believe it's an attention issue.
But take it how you will, I report senseless crap constantly in trade or even in battlegrounds. I am just a cynic.

The Anal linking is absolutely stupid, it goes on so heavily on Blackhand that at times you will get 20-30 bullshit lines for every ONE line of chat that belongs in /trade. The ONLY reason people use /trade instead of /general is that /trade goes to all capitol cities, so even if you stealthed into the alliance/horde capitol you have access to stupidity.
Now here's the problem, I actually LIKE having access to the trade channel, on a rare occaision I see a real steal of a deal, or "Gee, I wish I had thought of buying that for these guys" and it's something I don't want to give up. Leaving the channel because some immature dipshit thinks Anal [Skill we have all seen a thousand times] is funny just isn't right. Blizzard needs to crack down on these guys and not give them a warning past their first one. Start giving vacations, and bigger ones with each additional infraction.

@ Don, I have been using AiT for a few months now. Can you PM me your LUA file? I kept screwing mine up trying to alter it. I PM'd the author of AiT and asked him to give us some slash commands to add / remove filter keywords, but I got no reply.

It's all fun and games until some parent finds that their minor child starts using the word "anal" in suggestive ways because it's "common language -- everybody does it".
Please remember that this game is not 18+, and as few multiboxers as we are, each of us is a representative of our community. We may think it's "funny", but in perspective -- it's against the rules in a game that may include children. As since it's against the rules (and we've all agreed thanks to the dual-boxing forum rules that we wouldn't discuss purposely breaking them)...
THREAD LOCKED.
It's wrong because Blizzard says it's wrong. It's wrong because you were actioned for it.
It doesn't matter if it's "funny".
It doesn't matter if it happens "all the time".
It doesn't matter if certain people get away with it and you didn't.
You were warned by a Blizzard employee not to do such things. Therefore, there need not be any discussion on whether it's "wrong" or "right". It's wrong. Whether or not it's "funny" is irrelevant. Certainly don't ENCOURAGE it.
Bragging about how you broke the rules on a forum that has very clear standards to uphold the rules was not smart, nor funny, nor useful.
