Hi,
My shamans hit outlands and doing the first few quests I already got a lot of nice gear upgrades; including a nice shield; unfortunately the only suitable weapon I saw so far is a 2H staff - How/where do I find a suitable 1H to be able to wear the shield ? Is the AH my only option ? (I did a scan of the HFP quest rewards and I don't think I see any dagger or mace or axe with spell or int stats - there is a sword but we can't use sword...)
TIA
ps: meta question - what site you use for good item searches ? I tried thottbot "quest reward" checked but it bugged on me / didn't return anything

www.wow-loot.com lists gear you can get from instance and quest loots. www.max-dps.com lists gear by dps and can search by rep, 5man, quest, crafted, etc.

http://thottbot.com/i25492 is probably your best bet. It's a healing mace but it has decent spell damage. It's from a quest at Mag'har Post in Hellfire Peninsula. Once you hit lvl 64 you can pick up http://thottbot.com/i25543 from Nagrand.

Are you horde or alliance? If you're horde the only good ele shaman 1H weapon for the first few zones is the earthcaller mace which is available from the Mag'har questline in HFP. Basically when you find the body of the guy assassinated, then have to summon the ghostwolf to follow it to the mag'har outpost, you then have to go back to thrall. Upon returning to the mag'har you get a quest to get some sort of mushroom from the cave by falcon watch and then the next/last step is to cure 10 debilitated mag'har.
Its a very fast quest line and gives great XP also - easy for multiboxers (curing the mag'har counts for all 5 guys) and the mace will last you probably until nagrand unless you do a lot of instances.
If you're alliance... then I have no idea, sorry :)

I'm alliance (it's in my sig btw :-) )
wow-loot seems to indicate that this

in blood furnace may be my best choice but its only 17% drop from the maker so I'm not sure I can 5 shaman that instance yet... and it's random drop rate
the max-dps.com seems to link to some spam site... is there a typo there ?
Any ally shamans here - what 1H did you get/how when you got to outlands ?

I'm ally and I used the staff til I got the shield. I got 1 mace from BF for my ead shammy but the others I just used spell dmg daggers from the AH, they were up there for about 5g each so wasn't too bad. At lvl 65 do the Ring of Blood quest and choose the healing mace, I still have it even at 70.

I just farmed BF for the mace but if your really stuck and have some decent money just buy some +damage daggers and some random shield off the AH. It'll help you a ton in the instances

Thanks for the tips. I got lucky and got 1 dagger w/ spell dmg drop and I bid on a couple other somewhate overpriced (6-15g) at the AH. I'll give BF a shot too (but excpect a wipe fest - should I try ramps first ?)

Making it to the maker is pretty quick. It might have a low drop rate but I have heard stories of people running out of quests so might as well start the grind. Maker also drops a nice belt that you won't upgrade for a couple levels. I know when I was that level I had fun farming instances b/c I wasn't sure If I would be able to do it or not.

FWIW I ran BF on my 5 shamans to maker 10 times and only got 2 mace drops - after the 10th time i just didn't have the heart to run it anymore, plus I was starting to outlevel the instance.
Its pretty easy to run BF to maker and maker is cake but I would run ramps first just to do it.

I just bought 5 blades of trapped knowledge on the AH, they were around 20g each

Not really replaceable until 70 or close to it, fwiw I also ran bloodfurance 10 or so times between levels 62-63 and never saw the MH drop. <3 RNG

After reading Suvega's (I probably misspelled it but V's Man (Cant remember how to spell her name either ;( )) I had every intention of grinding to 70 after doing the HFP ad Zang quests (got HFP done and got Zang quests completed but waiting for patch before I turn them in) so I didnt mind running BF over and over again.
After 10runs The mace had dropped twice, once for my main shaman and another for my wife's priest. It only took another 7 runs to get it for my other 3 shamans and my druid so 17 runs total for 6 drops and sitting at just under 65 right now :D

With the change to Spellpower in the next patch I would imagine the Ring of Blood quest reward mace (available at lvl 65) should be pretty good. Personally I just picked up some AH green daggers and have been running BF both for the mace and for XP to 65. At 65 I plan on stocking up on 3 of the Ring of Blood maces (Pally and Shammies) and 2 of the Ring of Blood staffs (Boomkin and Mage).
