Well I was just looking at old videos I have enjoyed over the years and this one alwase gets me going...
For those that have not seen it, there was a person that passed away and there guild decided to have a funeral in game for them. Well they posted time and cords for the funeral on the realm forums and with that an allience guild decided they would raid the funeral.
This is a link to the download of the high quality version and if you want to see a stream then just youtube, wow funeral.

I remember this. This was a really big deal back then. Tons of posts about it. Some thought it was funny as hell, others were touched and upset about it. I see both views, but I must admit I did laugh. Bit dark but it's still funny.
Hell if anyone held a end game thing like that for my death I'd want PVP.

Yeah well, three things.
Firstly! This is so 2006. :P
Secondly, organising an event like that in a contested zone.. On the internet. Where everyone is safe behind their screens, in an mmo on a pvp server. Yeah, anough said.
Thirdly. The people crashing it are pretty much assholes in my book, but I honestly wasn't surprised the least when I heard this happened. In a perfect world this wouldn't happen ofcourse. A little respect can go a long way. But asking it from an online mmo pvp community is asking for it. Not saying it's right, but it's bound to happen.
Besides, without assholes, the nice people wouldn't mean shit. :P

I'm on the realm this group of guys is on. I never had any strong feelings either way about the video, I could see the humor in it, it just wasn't that funny to me.
These guys, however, are serious attention whores. I kid you not, we still have posts daily in our realm forums about this video. They still mention it all the time in their posts (whether on the official forums or on illidrama.com). It's been speculated countless times that they themselves are the ones posting under alts on the official forums to give themselves props. I have lost every ounce of respect I could possibly have for the people in that guild as a result.

SN are a bunch of idiots that spend most of their time camping people in STV and like you said being attention whores. They have some e-thug mentality. I would pay for RL pictures of all of them. ;)

Hell if anyone held a end game thing like that for my death I'd want PVP.Same here, I think that is the biggest thing I would want even if world pvp gets you little honor lol
In the end its a funny video imo, though yes it can be seen as disrespectfull.... Yet they have an emote to spit on people and many people do just that, so with a mmorpg its compleatly fitting in my book.

-50DKP for crashing a funeral.
-500DKP for being stupid enough to do this in a contested zone on a PVP server and expecting the other faction to leave you alone.

This was funny when I first saw it due to the fact they got what they for the sure fact they held it in a contested area but on the other hand these people are highly cocky.
The only time i got a laugh out of this was when my roomate started playing wow.
His first character was called Serenitynow. He had no idea about this video at the time, he just liked the name. Me being me though, thought better of it than to tell him.
Then it just got funnier because he would get constant whispers asking him if he was in that guild. Even though we were on a totally different server.

they held it in that zone for a reason...for those of you who are bashing them ur as bad as the 1's that did the bashing....that was that person's favorite place in the whole game...it was just a way to for that guild to remember her, pay their respects...absolutely nothing funny about it.....its ................u know!! it wasnt like they people in her guild could fly to where ever her funeral was taking place...omg! leave it alone....

with all the due respect, i understand the situation, but this kinda stuf isn't doable on the interwebz. i saw the vid back in the day, and honestly i couldnt care less. it was evil to do that, but they were basically asking for it...
WOW is a game. To do a funeral on a pvp Server is not clever...
I would crash it too. If someone cares he would go to the real funeral. Get a RL...

Playing a game full of adolescence, and ask them not to act adolescent...bit odd to me...
and in the end...it's just a game... if you take it that seriously..maybe a break is in order..?

You really have to wonder about the mentality that thinks trying to do something nice for somebody else is "asking" to be griefed.
Maybe they should have expected it, but asked for it? No.
They were asking for it, not because they were trying to do something nice. But, because they were moving a lot of people to a PVP zone. At the time before much instanced PVP distractions existed. Honestly, if I were on their server and of the opposing faction ... I probably would've called friends in to roll them too. Because ... they were there ... and it's a PVP server. PVP happened on a PVP server! I don't read the wow forums daily, least of all the ones for my server. And I don't check the websites of opposing factions guilds either. SO how would I know what they're doing? All I would know is that some guild is staging some sort of event in a PVP server in an open PVP zone. That's like an open invitation to fight.

The evil monkey in me laughed really hard when he saw this the first time.
Still makes me smile.
And yeah, they are asking for it .. The video should be called "Why so serious ?"
