So I haven't really thought about what tradeskills I want my shaman to have until today (wish I would have thought about it sooner) and will be atleast training them all to 1 skill in their respective skills tonight so that they can see pattern drops from all these instances that im doing anyway. Not that the patterns will be all that useful when wotlk is released but some may still come in handy for skilling up more efficently and what not

Anyway heres the big question...I loot with my leader with looting permissions set to FFA, will my alts need to touch the corpses to see the pattern or will they get a roll window for the pattern if only my leader touches the corpse? I would set the looting threshold so that greens and blues are all rolled on...seems like it would work, but honestly im not sure how the "hidden" pattern drops work

i set my 4 followers to pass on loot and set the main as master looter so all greens and above you can see and asign to the proper toon.

Your main will see the patterns but will not be able to loot them. So you need to click on npc with the toon you want to have the item. A box will pop up confirming that you want to loot the bop item. If it is a boe item then it is a mute point b/c you can just trade it to the correct toon.

I am a firm believer in not having 1 of every profession on your team. It would be cool to be the only one on the server to have a pattern drop and make oodles of gold off it. I would think if this were to happen you would spend more time in trade than in instances. Also with the release of Wotlk I believe there will be profession based daily quests. Hopefully having multiple toons with the same professions will make this easier to grind.

My current Professions set up

shaone(main) alch/herbing

shatwo alch/skinning

shathree alch/mining

shafour alch/leather working

shafive alch/enchanting

I plan on keeping this while leveling from 70-80. When they come out with some epic bop leatherworking gear I plan on the following

shaone alch/lwing

shatwo alch/lwing

shathree alch/lwing

shafour alch/lwing

shafive lwing/enchanting

One thing that I have been worrying about is cooking. I thought I could get by with only one 375 cooker. But It looks like the only way to get northrend spices (spice needed to make the best food buffs) is through cooking dailies. This will make these spices a hot commodity. I plan on raising the rest of my team's cooking to 375 before the release of wotlk.

Whew, well its good to know that the leader will atleast be able to see the patterns ;)

For tradeskills I was thinking of the following:

5x Alch
1x LW
1x Enchanter
1x Smith
1x Inscriber
1x Engineer

Not really set in stone or anything, I did see that JC requires a daily quest to obtain the dragon eyes which wouldn't make sense for me to do with only one character when i could obtain many times the gold value of said JC item in the same time with all my characters doing a daily or something...if other tradeskills follow this model then I think you have a very good point with tradeskill diversity.

I do like the 5x alch for the "press this button for an effortless 100-200g" each day (though im already coming to realize that gold is probably going to be a non-issue just running heroic and outland dailies...that aside the endless potions, flask buffs, and trinkets all seem very nice.

Reguarding the other stuff, I really liked the idea of having an engineer for portable mailboxes and repairbots for the added convience (time = $$,afterall) as well as engineering bombs and tools possibly for some of the more tricky 5man encounters. LW for the drummer....figured insciber would be handy for making my own glyphs to allow for more swapping but thats not necessary....smith, yeah mostly useless and is just a pattern collector :)

Mabey I'll take a step back and rethink some of these ideas, LW does have a very compariable passive buff to go along with it's bop item lineup (ill have to check these items out)
