I'm working on a new free key broadcaster called "Keywire" for the Mac and I need some beta testers to help me out before I release it.

So far it's fairly basic but I have big plans for it ... here's the list of features it has so far :
Add Process either Active or from a filename Do Not Pass list support Toggling Broadcasting on/off Toggling DoNotPass on/off Toggling RoundRobin on/off Saves/Loads process list so it can relaunch them quickly.

A few ideas I'm working on :
Individual key re-routing, eg. When key 'h' is passed to client 3, a list of keys will execute. Round Robin timer reset. Multiple setup support. Global Macro switching for Wow (copying a macro set to client folders prior launching)If you are interested in helping me test / improve it please respond with an email and I'll send you a copy.

Thanks,
Paul.

My 3 accounts are frozen right now or I would love to help! Best luck with this project!
Your basic feature list already covers all that I needed hahaha :D amazing :P when i come back to the game I hope I can be using this software :D

I work in software development myself, but I have not done very much development for OS X yet. I sent you a PM with my contact information.

I've been playing a little with it.
It's more configurable than clonedKeys, which I love.
The setting of keys to pass/roundrobin is easy, the unsetting is a bit unintuitive.

I only had one instance of it not working. While in session WoW started to stutter and lag and no keys where being broadcasted. A restart of Keywire cleared it up.

I've just sent out an updated version (v1.01) to those of you who are beta testing it for me.

If you haven't received this version, please drop me an email and I'll get it to you asap.

Thanks for all the support.

Just got the app in an email from you, looks great. Did want to ask, this is my first time multiboxing with a program like this, any type of user guide available for this so far? I'm sure I'll figure it out, but some type of guide would sure make things easier :D

**Edit

Seem to have figured most of it out, this is AWESOME!!! Makes it so much easier to PL my toons rather then have 1-2 on useless /afk autofollow!

I haven't yet written a guide or instructions on the app. Once it's fully ready for release I'll write them up.

If you are using it to play WOW then all you really need to get you going is to add 'asdw' keys to the "do not pass" list (this prevents the clients from breaking follow in game when controlling your main). I'd also advise making the 'enter' & 'tilda' keys toggle broadcaster on/off. To do this simply click in the smaller edit box below the larger list box and hit the corresponding key.

Just to let everyone know that I'm planning on keeping KeyWire free once it's officially released.

Also, I've noticed that occasionally keys do get dropped and it seems to be a problem with the OS incorrectly reporting a successful broadcast when in actual fact it wasn't. I'm relatively new to coding on the Mac so I'm learning the OS as I'm going, if anyone out there has any input into why the Mac would eat keys up please drop me an email.

Thanks,

This looks very nice - never quite got clonekeys working the way I wanted it too.

Sending you a PM.

Been working great now for two weeks, my buddy had some issues starting it up, but he said it had something to do with his universal settings and once switched is working great for him now as well.

Great to hear the program is going to be free, hopefully will have a donation option, well worth it!

Any word on some support for getting this program to launch for me?

did you move it out of the disk image?
any error messages? tried looking at the usual system log files for an error?
or do you just load it up and it crashes?
what system version youre running?

like.. you cant just expect to say "it doesnt run" and expect the guy to come up with a fix for you if you dont provide any kind of information.

Individual key re-routing, eg. When key 'h' is passed to client 3, a list of keys will execute.
This sounds like automation to me, and is bannable.

I'm running Tiger. I ran it in terminal and if I remember right, the error message I got was totally non-descript(no error codes or anything) but I will post it when I get home. I have moved it out of the disk image. When I launch, I get the bouncy icon and then it disapears all together. Again, I'll post more info when I get home.

This sounds like automation to me, and is bannable.I think that means something like when you press 'h' it might execute ctrl+shift+alt+h on client 3. That would be my interpretation at least for the phrase "a list of keys"

When I double click on the app, nothing happens. Tried launching from terminal to maybe see if it gave some helpful output but Open Keywire.app gave me no output.

When I browse into the package and launch the terminal app found in the MacOS folder, here is what I get.

/Applications/Keywire.app/Contents/MacOS/Keywire; exit
Bus error
logout
[Process completed]

Running OSX tiger. Not sure what other information would be helpful.

Individual key re-routing, eg. When key 'h' is passed to client 3, a list of keys will execute. That's definitely automation and a bannable offense. I wouldn't even put it in as a feature.

One keypress = one action is the only way to be legal.

I wish you'd post this somewhere so a bunch more folks can try it! I emailed and am hoping for a response soon. :)

like I said in a previous post, this could be interpreted as

'h' is pressed and ctrl+shift+h is passed to client

Until the dev replies we don't know.

Sorry I've been quiet the last few weeks I've just been buried with work.

Regarding the key mapping feature, I was unaware that sending multiple keys on a different client would be a violation, so I'll drop the whole list idea.

I will still make it possible to remap a single key per client - in other words ... press 'h' could send a totally different keypress on one of the other clients (e.g. pressing 'h' on client 1 will broad-cast it as 'ctrl-h' on client 2) - hopefully this won't break any rules.

I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow for the next few weeks, once I'm back I'll get back to working on the app.

Finally, I don't have the Tiger OS available to me so I'm not exactly sure how i'll be able to fix this problem.

Regards,
Paul.

This is perfectly legal, modifying one key is fine (alt, shift, ctrl, etc)

I would love to help beta test this! Sounds like everything I've been looking for, and then some. The other Mac based broadcasters seemed to just leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Looking forward to helping, if you still would like some!
