Not sure if this is a hardware problem or software but oh well..

settings

2,8 gz quad
4gb ram
1gb 280 egva
Vista 32 bit

No matter what i do wow use 100% of all 4 cores and i dont realy have THAT manny mods

Ram use is 90% but the CPU is used 100% all of the time and i set them up to divide load over all cores.

Now my mate runs with 2.5 gz quad and a 512mb screencard with 4gb ram but he doesnt lag at galv and have higher settings then me on his slaves.

My main wow folder is on a 10000 rpm drive while slave 2,3 is on a 7200rpm and 4,5 on my last 7200rpm.

The wow windows isnt near my windows bar wich is hidden aswell.

Have you checked to see if the wow.exe is taking all those precious resources up?

1 core alone could not run my "main" wow window so i spread it over 2 and now i even have 25 fps in shatrath at full settings!

My system is a bit weaker on CPU power with a Q6700 2.66GHz C2Q. I do have 8GB RAM and 64bit Vista though. I doubt you have a hardware problem.

I'd recommend that you grab Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx) from Microsoft's free offers and use that to look a bit closer. It's basically a much more detailed task manager view for your purposes.

Make sure you look at your CPU load per core AFTER you have logged in and finished loading the zone. WoW has insane CPU consumption on the login screen and CPU load may be higher when the zone is being loaded. I split my five WoWs between the cores, each client using one core, with the exception of 4 and 5 which share one. I use two WoW folders, one with max settings and resolution for the main and one with minimal settings and resolution for the secondaries.

I hope this helps.

Here is the setup i now run and i would consider it smoth (i doubt it will get higher in shatrath unless i get more ram but i dont realy care since my fps is constant 40-50 everywere else even at galv)

Main window with full resolution and all GFX settings maxed (no sound thought since i cant stand the wow ingame sounds)

Core 1 and 2

Second window:

Core 2

Thrid window

Core 3

Fourth window

Core 4

Fifth window

Core 3 and 4

What doesnt makes sense is why im not able to run it on one core while others are with weaker pcu. However i now run my games smoother then my mate pix (fu) :D

Yeah, it sounds like you have some processes (spyware, viruses, other applications?) that may be running in the background and is sucking down all of your processing power. Check your task manager, windows tray, and startup folder as quick first places to look for applicaitons that you may not need running all the time.

You should consider using a single wow data folder instead of many as you are now using.
Windows isn't really a "data transfert God" especially when multiple disks are used simultaneously, and you have a 10K rpm drive .. just use the symbolic links ('http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_symbolic_link') to set all the data folders point to the one on your 10k rpm drive. Give it a try, it should worth it !!
And, btw.. your extra gig of ram isn't used at all.. you have only 3gig mapped for your apps.. consider switching to vista 64 to use all the installed memory.

I know that vista 32 only use 3.3gigs but it aint realy a issue yet since i only use 80% and the only place it lags now is shattrath but i cba to upgrade just because of shatrath.

Computer still shuts down when its been on for a long time.

seems like its my GTX 280 card who is having problems with the heat and the fan only runs at 40% so i will tune up the speed and test if the computer stops shutting down after a while of play.

lol shat is a nightmare for almost all players.

What i do, is put all graphics to low, and put windows running with the basics only, so i get all memory and cpu to wow.

i open 4 clients, and run very nice, and my computer is kind old.

My conf is:

AMD Athlon64 3000+
2 GB Kingston DDR1
Hard drive Seagate 500GB Sata2
Geforce GT6800 512.

and i´m using windows xp 32 bits version.

So check what is running in youre windows, oh another thing i notice, using service pack 3 make windows xp run slower then ever...
Good luck ;)

set video settings to "LOW" for all clients but your main. I ASSUME (and I hate that word) that you are running them on one single monitor? It is very very unnecessary for clients to require anything but low FPS/graphics as your main will be doing all the work.

I'd do:

Core 0: Main
Core 1: Client 1
Core 2: Client 2
Core 3: Client 3/4

Also defrag your Hard drive.

Seems to be my power supply actually.

my cpu is nearly at max temp all the time and i short circuted my whole computer room when i tried to start up the pc after using the other power output on the power supply. 2 of my hard drives also had issues by vanishing and comming back untill i changed the power output.

I would assume that the fluid aint getting pumped around in my water cooling system it just stands in one spot and cant take the heat away fasst enough.

Especially with a Core 2 Quad you should stick to one HDD since the multithreaded perf of a C2Q is dependent of a clear front side bus (die0 is connected to die2 via fsb). Possible hardware upgrades would be the coming Core i7 platform, it makes wonders for multoboxing. I have tested 10-boxing on a Core i7 940 running at 3.6GHz with 6GB DDR3 1333MHz (tripple channel) and the perf is just amazing. The new platform will be available in the middle of Nov and motherboard + cpu (920) will be about 300+250 USD, absolutly worth it! I will for sure upgrade to Core i7 as soon as it is available (using QX9770 atm above 4GHz and 3GHz core i7 outperforms it).

Im posting how it went in order for people who bother to use "search" later on :)

It seems like it was my CPU wasnt working like it should and they changed it.

Hope this helps for others!

Hope this helps for others! How did you figure out your cpu was bad? I'm using a Q6600 with 8gb of ddr2 800 memory, nvidia 8800gt and I'm consistently 98% cpu on running just 4 clients since the 3.0.2 release. All of the cpu usage is from wow as well. Even if I run all settings on low I get the issue. It's currently driving me crazy. I've tried a ton of different affinity settings to no avail. I'm currently running core 0 and 1 on main, and the 3 other cores sharing 2 and 3. I keep reading all these people 4 boxing with dual cores and I can't even run 4 on a quad much less run all 5 of my clients. Before the patch everything seemed fine.

I had to send my complete pc back to were it was built so i realy have no idea how they did it! Maybe someone can give us a input on how to test if the CPU is working or not?

But it certainly sounds like you have the same problem as me! How about contacting the support for your cpu company?

I havent taken a look on how much o% my CPU use but the only place i get lag is in shatrath but most people do anyway and my server is overcrowded. In AV it pretty much runs smooth even when 40 people is fighting in the galv room now.

I really find it hard to believe the cpu is bad but it may very well be a possibility. If someone has a good idea how to benchmark a quad core and some reference benchmarks I can test against then I can start to get a better idea. I was completely fine prior to 3.0.2, which is what makes me sad.

Well they told me the first time i called them that it also could be my power supply.

I would suggest you to get crysis and max out the video settings.. My computer ususaly blacked out after a few hours when i did it!

Well they told me the first time i called them that it also could be my power supply.

I would suggest you to get crysis and max out the video settings.. My computer ususaly blacked out after a few hours when i did it! I got home and started doing some snooping and coretemp was reporting very high temps (around 65c) under no cpu load. So I took everything apart and discovered one of the mounting pins for my cpu cooler had come loose. I locked it back down and under no load I was getting 35c. Under load it had to have been spiking super high and causing things to run super slow.

After all that and seeing my temps being very low I decided to start messing with overclocking. Right now i've been running stable at 3.15 ghz and prime95 full cpu load with temps under 55c. I"m going to spend the next day or two pushing the system to it's limits overclocking and find a stable overclock.

funny but now that you mentioned it i remember that they also said that my water cooling was abit loose! Maybe it was the same issue there but in the end they had to change my cpu since it was showing 125 degrees in the bios! :P
