So, I missed the original WoW launch by a year because I don't keep in touch with the latest games and saw the pile of boxes at Frye's thought WoW was Warcraft not Diablo 2 patch awesomo. BC was not so cool the first few days but was infinitely better than WoW 1.0. Now the question comes, should I take a vacation day to play some WoW-crack at launch or just wait a few days? In order to aide my choice or makeit more pathetic, I also am required to take 2 vacation days Oct-Dec and will have Thanksgiving week off, just a mere week after lauch. So I leave I part of my decision up to you to help guide my choice.

I really wish they'd have digital upgrades available on the day :/

No option for "Other" in there. :P

I'll probably be done leveling my RAF teams to 70 by then but I'll start leveling them past 70 in outlands with the leftover quests I never did in Shadowmoon/Netherstorm and some of the instances. That will easily get me through 73-74ish with almost zero competition.

Not really sure how I'll be leveling, though. Might end up leveling my 10-man priest/locks team to 80 first so I can start getting my 10 arenas in per week to grab the first tier PVP arena gear ASAP. We'll hafta see.

Either way, I'm not really thinking much about it yet. Having way too much fun leveling RAF alts. :D

I've got my 3 copies reserved and will be standing in line right after I get off work. Also took 3 days of PTO to give me a 5 day weekend.

I will have 3 RAF teams, maybe 4 parked at or above 60. I will probably live in ramparts and blood furnace since my pally will still get XP in there. I might take my solo rogue to northrend and get started but hated the crush when TBC started TBC so will try and avoid that. I don't raid any more and I am not a top 10% (or even 70%) PvPer so there is no rush for me this time.

I've got 3 copies preordered and if GameStop is open at midnight I'll be playing on the 13th.

I chose the 2nd choice because our store doesn't open at Midnight, and won't just for this game. I'll have to wait til I finish work on the 13th :(

Ive got 5 copies ordered from Amazon and they are supposed to be delivered on the 13th. We shall see. I have several projects going on, so I will be plenty busy untill they show up, but I did take that Thursday and Friday off from work, and I work extended hours with a 4 day work week, so I always get Sat,Sun, and Mon off. 5 day WOTLK frenzy FTW.

I wasn't around for the BC release but I can imagine the first few days would be pretty hectic with everyone competing for the new areas.

I wont be in any real rush, most likely just going to level another group to 70 with the reduced XP.

There was a truce in the starting zone for most servers so even if you were competing, at least you weren't dying while waiting.

Yea, true story, PvP server and all. Alliance and Horde were not even thinking about killing each other, they were all too busy trying to finish all the quests quickly so they could leave the zone. We didn't have any multi boxers back then either.

But don't worry, Tasty, jamien and I will ensure this does not happen again. It will be a gank fest.

I'm going to try (try) to relax and wait a week before upgrading and jumping in to let the initial craziness blow over.

Ill buy my copies of WOTLK and install it but wont sample the contet for a while as it will be a bit crowded in the start areas and doing quests will be crazy hard with all the mobs being camped. My dillema atm is my guild is at Sunwell point of raiding, just got there. The dilema is what do I use as a raid main, I have lots of chars now so what do I level for raiding? Ive healed, I have dpsed in raids but Ive never tanked. My feelings atm are with pally tanking. DK Im not sure I think the competition in a raiding guild for DKs will be too much with a lot being dissapointed.

Have just put in for the friday and following week off work, so 9 days of nothing but LK to try and get the group to 80.

For everyone concerned about an over abundance of people in Fjords or Tundra, don't forget about the new phasing technology Blizz are applying to a lot of quests...think there will be a lot less competition than is expected.

I'll be getting it on the 13th, but I doubt I'll be able to play, guessing all addons will be broken again :p And it'll take the night to set them up on my team :)

I hope to get them to 70 before that though, 40 right now :p

I would love to start playing on the 13th but unfortunately in France getting an English version on release date is impossible. If someone here living in France knows how to do it, please hint me ;).

So I ordered my copies from England and if it goes well I'll start in 1 week after release... X(

I've preordered 5 copies.
And i'm sure they will send it out a few days earlier like they did with tbc, so you can install and patch it and be ready when they open Northrend

my raf will still be only 3 weeks old when it comes out, so i'm in no rush to level my existing 70's onwards.

i will probably be levelling different teams to 60 and then on to 70

My computers won't be able to handle the lag on the first day..but odds are my group won't be fully 70 by then anyway. (no RAF for me! :S )

I figure I'll head straigth to an instance and live there til I hit 80... When TBC came out I was in blood furance from 60-68 then finished out in Mana Tombs, Shadow Labs, Etc... I quested 69-70 solo in Nagrand and a half dozen quests in SMV since I ran out of nagrand quests...

Unfortunately my shamans are not going to progress together, I'll be grouping with my guildies, so when they are on, I'll be kicking shammies from my 5 box to make room for them... when they aren't, I'll 5 box. I figure that I can rotate the out m an well enough to get them all to 70 close to each other.

My plan is also to hang out in instaces for the first couple days. Does anyone else have a bad feeling about the release of wotlk and server up time. I think queues to log on happened when bc hit. Also the server would randomly go down. I have been telling everyone that is thinking about taking time off of work to level to wait around a week then take time off.

All in All I can't wait to get into some new instances and kick the crap out of them. If it is true that you don't need to replace your t5/t6 equivalent stuff until 76/77 then I don't see any need to do quests until then.

Yeah, Im debating on waiting around for a couple weeks before I plunge into WotLK. I have ten copies of WotLK ordered, but I might wait until the servers stabalize with the increased population. Also, with the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday (2 weeks after WoTLK), I get some free vacay time from my office, so I might just take that whole week of the 23rd off to focus on leveling my 10 chars up to 80. We'll see...

Silly me, I planned my hooneymoon before they had a release date. Guess the wife will have fun on the cruise by her self...

And I think I'm going to finish the RaF bonus out to it's bitter end. I love multiboxing to death, and the money isn't an issue, but I'll be honest, I only started up the other 3 so I could make as close to 1 of every character class very near 70 as I could. I've always been one of 'those guys' in any single player game. (you know, the ones that make every class to play because they get a little bored)

Might just pick up my 5 copies at midnight. Got vacation days for the 13th, 14th, and 17th. Then company is forcing us to take vacation days 24th - 26th. I'd be giddy if I can hit at least 75 by the end of November, but I'm afraid the wife will have a big honey-do list for me.

I'm gonna buy and install/upgrade on the day it comes out(got my own game store so got 5 copy's waiting for me anyway) and then setup my addon as much as possible. Then log out and leave it for a week ;) There will be less people in the lower level area's(lower as in from 71  ) and rested bonus saved up a bit. So for me it will be around the 20th when I'm going to start.

That's the plan, but I probably end up playing whenever I can in the end :S

I've preordered 5 copies but I haven't decided if I'm going to take vacation the week of or the week after release.

I'm sure it'll be somewhere from the 14th to the 16th since real life and work are more important than WoW.

I'll give it a week, upgrade my primary account to WotLK then start a death knight, I'm currently levelling a team with similar names for some RP aspect, when they get to 50/55/60 ish I'll leave them ready and waiting to team up with my new DK ofr a run to 70. After that I'll level my paladins to 70, then finally upgrade all accounts and start on the 70-80 content.

I'll be soloing to 80 on one of my 70s with my wife and will probably mess around with deathknights before going back to multiboxing.

I will be getting it probably the day of release, but not midnight. I was only allowed to preorder 3 copies, so I will need to shop around to get 2 more. I play very late at night to avoid having WoW mess with my real life, so I might be able to avoid the big lag and the overpopulation in quest zones. I'm sure questing will still be annoying.

I was on a PVP server when BC came out, and I can attest to the fact that PVP didn't happen much. There were just too many players. If you killed someone you would be killed, guaranteed. It just wasn't feasible to PVP. I'm sure people did kill each other, but like I said, it would be met with your own death with 20 people standing there watching you.

keep in mind wotlk is more demanding on your PC than current WoW, patch 3.0 may be a good indicator of how many your PC can handle.

keep in mind wotlk is more demanding on your PC than current WoW, patch 3.0 may be a good indicator of how many your PC can handle. It should be noted that you can set the beta client's graphics settings such that you end up with the exact same graphics performance as your main/live client. ;) I've tried it and I can get 'em to where they look almost identical and get within 1-2 FPS of each other. Now, where I will agree is with memory usage. The couple of times I checked, in the same zone, the beta client was using about 30% more memory (700mb vs 500mb). That aspect will probably affect single-machine boxers with 4GB of RAM more than any other aspect of things.

Already preordered 3 of them, when I went in to do it the guy at Gamestop was like you got a few friends that want it too. And I was like yeah thats it friends that want it hehe. I will more than likely not hit Northrend for a few days and let it cool down, sure I will be behind but dont really mater still tinking of picking up another copy and have a 5 man team vs a 4 man team. This weekend I might pick up my 5th.

Thanks for all of the responses. I'm definitely going to stand in line to get my copies. This will allow me to check off one of those un-planned life goals of "for no reason whatsoever, stood in line for 2-4hrs to get a copy of a video game". I think I will wait a week to the weekend before thanksgiving to take my 2 vacation days, to let any unforeseen kinks expose themselves the opening weekend and allow me a week to wander around.
