Hi Guys, i am hoping to hear from a Warlock boxers here:
Currently my Warlocks are level 50 and i mainly created them for pvp as i already have a pve team.
my question is:
from your experience are you able to do any instances with just 5 locks?
cheers

You should be able to do up to Sethekk without too much trouble...the lvl 70 instances will be very difficult unless you significantly outgear them.

Thanks stealthy!
Also, what are they like in PvP? Do all the dots stack or is there a cut off point for the amount of dots that land?

I have 5 level 62 locks and LOVE them. From my experience they are totally awesome in PVP. I use one felpuppy and 4 felguards. DoTs stack. I'm not doing that great in Ramparts at 62. The first boss hits so hard he kills my pets pretty quick. Haven't gotten past him yet.

The hardest part of PvP with 5-box locks is dealing with AoE fears from the enemy, whether in BG's or in Arena. On the otherhand it is utterly brutal the havoc you can wreck though with 5x seeds! :)
As for running instances, felguards do a pretty decent job of maintaining threat, but they don't have enough health to take blows for long. It'll be interesting to test non-heroic instances once the 3.0 patch comes out, with the Demonic Empathy talent (healing your pet for 15% damage you do).

Pre 50, what spec did you guys run with for the most part?
I've got 1 that's demo and 4 affliction, but I was thinking how much more DPS (and therefore quicker mobs die) if I spec'd the 4 into destro.
Any thought? Or just don't waste the gold?
My first team was 5 demon specced Warlocks.
They completely trounced everything up until the final boss in Ramparts where I hit a brick wall which they still couldn't get over at 63 :(
So, swapped out a Warlock for a Priest and creamed it :)
They're now chugging towards 70 with proper healing

my 5x afliction warlock team rocked all of the 0-60 dungeons without much effort.
I had to respec demon to get my epic mounts because strat has spell immune skeletons between you and the door, the fel guards do physical damage. That was the hardest room to do.
I wasn't as happy with my warlocks in the outland instances.

I've been 4 boxing warlocks for a while now. With 4+ levels on the early outland instances, I've been able to successfully 4-man them. Any time I've gone in with a healer or tank we've roled straight through them. But of course, you don't want to limit your team, so I can't really say much in the way of advice for you.
PvP, however, has been simply amazing. Where my locks are human, I usually forego the Felpup and just have 4 Felguards out at all time.
I spec'd destro from 1-55 or so. Then I respec'd and got the felguards. I've loved every minute of it. Having that many Felguards in PvP is just insane. Same as the dots. Just running around and dotting someone 8 times so quickly is incredibly fun. I find that leveling with dots is a bit of a waste because they'll never last their full duration. Destro allowed me to usually 1(x4) shot everything, and the Felguards have done all the work for me ever since.
But nothing beats seeds.
I'm still running a setup that involves focusing my main char, but Iv'e found that:
/assist focus
/cast Seed of Corruption
/petattack
...is the best Macro ever. My Felguards always detonate my seeds before I fire off my next round. As a result of this, I've found that firing seeds repeatedly on the same target results in a constant stream of 4k+ damage per 2 seconds to everyone near that target until everything is dead or I'm oom. I've walked out of an AV with over 500k damage per character, 200+HKs and less than 5 deaths while trying to break a massive Horde turtle (30+ characters) stuck at RH. It helped that I had a resto druid healbot.
I haven't tried Arena yet, but am expecting it to go pretty horribly. I've just set a team up the other day. My two rotating Arena partners are a warlock (for fun) and a druid (hopefully we'll have some small measure of success, but I doubt it).

get those felguards as soon as you can, demo is by far the best levelling spec, since with low-end gear that is the best damaging tree.
Demo really only shines with good hit and good crit.
