View Full Version : Professions in WotLK?
Hey there! I've a question for all you shaman boxers out there about professions in the upcoming expansion. From what i've seen on beta notes and wowhead loot data, I initially decided that enchanting/leatherworking would be the way to go, but after examining the jewelcrafter daily system for earning patterns/dragons eyes, im thinking of going that route. The idea of being able to complete the once a day JC daily's on 4 toons to farm up dragons eyes is just too appealing. That would allow you to equip the +32 spell dmg prismatic x3 on all 4 toons as well as make a boat load of money selling dragons eyes, which will be required for the BoE rings/necks.
The linings available via LW look nice upon first glance but the money making potential on top of the dps gained via bop gems is calling to me big time. I've got a warrior that i use to mine on so the gathering capability will be available to fund the JC push. Anyone know of a profession combo that will trump this? The engineering stuff for pvp looks interesting as well but will the addons be available in arena (the glove attatchments and what not)?

Still doesn't look like a new rare material
What I am interested in is maybe a link or 2 on this. After reading this I went to wotlkwiki and tried to find any information on dragon eyes or the new daily profession quests. Thanks for your incredible insight Warchamp7

The bonus from jewelcrafting is lower than most other professions on an absolute scale (relative to epic gems) barring your valuation of the trinkets. Where it might begin to make more sense is in the relative value of not having to purchase the gems (although you might be able to make enough money to fund the gems in the time of the quest?) and the freedom from meta requirements (if this is still the case).

Oh, no problem really, heres some more insight for you

Just so you know, the first one I searched "Dragon's Eye" with an apostrophe, something you did not do. As such it turned up 3 results as opposed to your zero.
For the second one, I googled WoW JC Dragon's Eye ('http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=WoW+JC+Dragon%27s+Eye&meta='), it was the very first result.
If you go into any of those Dragon's Eye prismatics, you'll see this reagent http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?item=42225 ('http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?item=42225'). The one I'm sure he was referring to in the first post.
I'm very tempted to be quite the jerk right now.
Edit: What you actually failed to do was toggle WotLK data on WoWhead when you searched.

Zim I would shy away from taking professions to just make you alot of gold. Unless this is your end goal. Me personally I would like to have something that would help me in pve. I have alchemy * 5 right now for the +63 spell damage trinket it is just a bonus that I get 5 transmutes every day.
So the question is what will jcing get you?
Trinkets - I think it would be cool to have 2 ~60stam trinkets.
Gems - The way it currently is you get one better gem.
And possibly alot of gold from selling your dragon eyes. One thing that I wouldn't worry about is gold. Grinding instances or doing dailys you can get gold pretty quickly
for some reason I thought that you get to equip up to 3 dagon's eye gems (3x32 spell dmg for each toon was what I was going for). You have a good point about gold though, Schwarz, selling the eyes is probably not necessary, however....what about being able to pump out x4 crafted necks and x4 crafted rings that much faster? (ring - http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?item=42644, neck - http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?item=42647) I've yet to see the pvp stuff available for those slots so it might be a bust, but those items are pretty impressive atm. JUST found this inscription shoulder chant available only to those with the profession, http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=61120, that along with another major slot would definitely be hot. It will be interesting pvp'ing against people and seeing what their professions bring to the table, I'm almost tempted to wait for the expansion to lvl the second one.

From the tool tip i think they mean that you can have three of those gems equiped but you can't have 3 of the same ones b/c they are unique. Yes if you have 4 or 5 jcers you will be able to get that ring and neck faster. But you can also get the ring and neck without having any of the jc. The items are boe so an option will be to shell out the gold and have someone make them.
I would look for the best bop rewards you can find. To be honest I am not sure what that is right now. If they add a bunch of mail leatherworking stuff with spell damage then I will probably go that route.

And for JC, is it still one of each BoP gem or is it 3 BoP gems in total now ? (+ BoP jewelry)
3 in total, and it can be 3 of the same type. They also count as all
three colors at the same time, both for meta gems and socket bonuses. Granted this is still beta but you might be able to stack three of the +spell damage gems
