So i am on BE Imba site looking at my guys when i see an add about network cards. I usually don't touch these but it say it reduces lag and we know when boxing lag=bad. So here it is, if any of you techies can let me/us know if it is any good or it is just hot air.

But would it worth it for a 5 boxer with only 1 computer?

Sry, just hyped up that this might fix a problem that i have in av and shat.

1. Get lots of RAM.
2. Have a GPU with plenty of memory, 512 MB+.
3. (Optional) Ramdisk your WoW data folder, and symlink to it from your install dir. 1-2 GB/s and practically near-zero access time should help load times.

However, it's also possible that on loading textures, some modulation and whatnot takes place in CPU/memory, which can basically only be alleviated by having more CPU power. Quad core and high speeds is your friend.

I'm running a Core2Quad at 3.0 GHz, 4 GB mem, 768 MB card. Only occasionally do I have load stutter in Shatt and AV.

By the way, the 3.0 GHz is a 2.4 GHz Q6600 auto-overclocked by the motherboard.. stock cooling, lol.. I guess it will blow up soon.

Edit: I suppose having a "killer nic" could reduce your latency by a small amount... which could be useful.. but like Fursphere indicates, your current problem does not lie with NIC performance.

So the options for those with shatt/AV lag is the following:

Symlink data to a standard drive
Use a Ramdisk and symlink data to that
Use a SSD drive and symlink data to that
Use 1HDD per wow client install
Get more Ram/upgrade to 64bit OS+more ram
Anything else? And, what would give you the most 'bang for your buck'? I've been reading multiple threads trying to come up with a cost effective solution to my city lag and my options seem to be the above.

well right now i have 2 WD raptors in my computer that are raid0 and my wows are symlink. Next time that the raptors go i sale i will probably pick up 2 more then. Have 1 as the windows hd and add the other one to the raid. Would that help any?

I wouldn't count on it. What are your system specs?

Upgrade your router if anything. Go from 10/100 to Full GigE=1000 between clients.

In the end your router is only putting out 6-10mb from your cable modem (you have one and not FIber?) So it really doesn't matter about the network performance as it's all throttled down to the lowest common denominator when it exits your LAN and connects to Blizzards servers.

This card is cute, but in the end it's just a 'cpu' on a network card, my 3C905 has one of those too.
